Chapter 81: Chapter 81

"All you’re doing is causing more and more trouble. I thought you said you were going to apologize to him?"

Maverick asks in an outraged tone. "I was going to.

But then the idea snapped after what he did to me this morning. And why is everyone so scared of him like a chicken by the way? If you all just stand your ground it wouldn’t be like this. Not to this extent!" I argue.

"You really think no one has ever tried that before? You clearly don’t know what you are getting into. It is strange that he is letting you off now like this."

"I thought of it too. But perhaps my scolding got through his thick skull."

"No. It means it is going to be much worse as from tomorrow." I furrow my brows at him. I can’t say that I don’t already know that though.

"Hey." Someone says, joining me and Maverick on the bench we are sitting on at one of the hidden sections of the school library. I see that it is Curry.

I call out her name in flat surprise. One close to not happy to see her. She has ignored me from that first day. We meet in classes and at the cafeteria and she acts like we don’t know each other. Not that I care much. I am grateful for the help she gave me on my first day here.

But hey...? How do you totally ignore someone like that?

"Ugly freckles?" That’s what Maverick calls her. I don’t understand why though, because her freckles are beautiful. Maybe a little too much. But still beautiful.

"I did not come here for you faggot. I came here for you." She is looking at —"Me?" She nods yes. "We haven’t spoken much since your first day, have we?"

"No, we haven’t." I thought you preferred it that way. freeweɓnovel.cѳm

"Curry, what are you doing here? Won’t your masters be angry that you’re speaking to us?" Maverick asks condescendingly.

"Shut that mouth of yours or you are going to get it from me!" She warns him. "Look at you acting like it isn’t a true fact." He claps back.

"Guys, guys, guys..... stop this. You aren’t kids." I act as a placater between the two of them. I don’t know what kind of history they have, but it is certainly not good. "I just came by to tell you that I really liked and respect what you did earlier. Standing up to you-know-who. No one ever does.

Even the principal and the school board members are scared to go against him." I honestly don’t know what to reply to that. So I just nod. "Can we be friends?" She asks sweetly. "No way in hell." Maverick snaps that before I could reply. She rolls her eyes at him. "I wasn’t asking you. I was asking her."

My new friendship with Curry was not the only thing that grew in the next two weeks.

Calyx truly came back at me in a series of cruel ways that I never thought possible or had seen coming. Maverick was right when he warned me. Calyx Lamont is not your average bully. He does not do verbal torture like most bully does. His forte is physical and mostly psychological bullying. He had cornered me once by the swimming pool while I was taking extra lessons from Coach Mira.

She had conveniently disappeared.

I raise my head from the water and see him standing by the pool instead of her. I was really startled when I saw him. I had asked him what he wanted. But he just smiled. The next thing was the pool cover being engaged while I was still in the water. I panic, trying to get out only to find the surface above to be so slippery that my hands will not stay on for a second much more long enough for me to put my weight in to drag myself out of the water.

He stared at me with sick satisfaction, enjoying my panic. He was also behind why the surface was slippery. I scream, begging him to take his hands off the control button. But all he did was smirk and continue to engage it anyway. I couldn’t swim to the other side in time before it fully closed. It closed while I was inside.

Trapped in the water with no way to come out. Fear and panic ate at my soul. I shouted for help and pounded at the cover. Attempting to break through it but to no avail as it is quite thick. My shouting only resulted in water getting into my mouth. I couldn’t hold myself up for long and started to submerge.

More like drown. I really thought that it would be the end for my life. I was going to be killed by a bully in my school’s swimming pool. A watery death. I have never thought that was how I will go. It should have been some place dry at least! I began to think of my mom. My Dad, and Percy. How would they feel knowing I died? I also thought of my little happy moments. Me serving customers at the noodle shop. All the Christmases I have had. And the frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓

day I got the scholarship to this damn school. Now my life is just going to end.

But just then, the cover slowly opened above my head. I immediately swam up for air. Calyx was crouching by the side of the pool with a wicked look in his eyes. "You are my source of fun now." That was what he said.

I don’t know if he really intended on killing me or if he was just testing my survival limits knowing I wouldn’t die because I’m a swimmer. I really cannot tell which. When school finally closed later that day, he forces me into his car and makes me tell him where I live.

Me telling him was superficial.

Turns out stalking came with the bullying package and I had no idea until that moment he made it known.
