Chapter 76: Chapter 76

Gunnar’s POV

I had been inside this cave for three days, and every hour that passed was making me more restless and more angry because the prime wolf beasts were nowhere to be seen.

I moved slowly through the darkness again, my steps careful and controlled as my eyes scanned every corner and every shadow.

The cave was huge and deep, and it felt endless, with different tunnels stretching in every direction. I had searched almost every part of it already, and still there was nothing. No sign of them. No scent that stayed long enough for me to follow.

It did not make sense.

These beasts had been here for centuries. They were bound to this place. They were not creatures that just disappeared. freewebnøvel.com

Something was wrong, and that thought alone was making my wolf restless inside me. He had been pacing in my head for days, clawing and pushing against my control because he wanted to be free, and I had kept him restrained because shifting too early would waste my strength.

But now I was starting to question everything.

"Where the hell are you?" I muttered to myself, my voice low and rough in the quiet cave.

The sound echoed slightly and then died, swallowed by the darkness. I stopped walking and listened.

My senses stretched out, alert for anything. The cave smelled of damp stone and old blood, and the air was heavy and cold, but there was no fresh scent.

I tightened my fists.

I was not here for glory. I was not here for power. I was here for Riley.

The image of her face flashed in my mind instantly, and my jaw clenched hard. I remembered her fear, the way her body trembled even when she tried to act brave, and the way she looked at me like she trusted me even when she did not understand anything. That alone pushed me forward. I would clear the path for her. I would make sure she survived this.

Then suddenly, a loud growl echoed through the cave.

I froze.

The sound was deep and violent, and it vibrated through the ground under my feet. Dust fell from the top wall, and the air shifted as if something huge had just moved.

My heart slammed hard.

A second growl followed.

It was different. Lower and rougher.

So they were here.

I swallowed once, my body going tense as every instinct sharpened. My senses snapped into focus, and I shifted my stance, ready to defend and attack at the same time.

Heavy footsteps followed.

Each step was slow but powerful, and the ground trembled slightly with every movement. The sound echoed from deeper inside the cave, coming closer.

I still could not see them.

But I could feel them.

My wolf growled inside me, his excitement and rage rising fast.

"Stay back," I warned him silently. "Not yet."

The footsteps stopped.

There’s silence for a while.

Then they stepped out of the darkness.

My breath caught.

They were massive.

Each of them was almost thrice the size of a normal wolf, their bodies covered in thick dark fur that looked rough and wild. Their muscles were huge, their legs powerful, and their glowing eyes locked onto me instantly.

One had black fur with red eyes, and the other was dark grey with golden eyes. Their teeth were long and sharp, and drool dripped from their mouths as they watched me.

They looked ancient and brutal.

Not normal wolves.

Not even normal beasts.

These were monsters.

They circled me slowly, their steps careful and controlled as if they were studying me. Their claws scratched the stone floor, leaving deep marks with every movement.

"So you finally came out," I said, my voice steady even though my heart was pounding.

The black one growled, its lips pulling back to show its teeth. The sound alone felt like a warning and a challenge at the same time.

I did not move.

I watched them.

One wrong move, and they would tear me apart.

They split apart, one moving to my left and the other to my right, trapping me in the middle. Their eyes never left me. Their bodies lowered slightly, ready to attack.

I rolled my shoulders, preparing.

"Come," I said coldly.

The grey one lunged first.

It was fast. Much faster than I expected. Its body shot forward, claws aimed straight for my throat.

I dodged to the side just in time, and its claws slammed into the cave wall instead.

The wall exploded.

Stone shattered and flew everywhere, chunks breaking off as if the rock was nothing. The sound was loud and violent.

I barely had time to react before the black one attacked from behind. I twisted and jumped back, its jaws snapping shut where my arm had been.

They did not stop.

They attacked again and again, their speed and power relentless. Every time they hit the walls or the ground, the cave cracked and broke around us.

They were testing me.

Trying to tire me.

But I would not fall that easily.

I punched the grey one when it came too close, and it slid back a few feet, but it barely reacted. Its eyes glowed brighter, and it growled louder.

Then suddenly, the black one howled.

The sound was deafening.

Before I could react, it lunged again, but this time it did not aim to bite. It slammed its body into me.

The impact was brutal.

My back hit the wall hard, and my head slammed against the stone. Pain exploded through my skull, and my vision swam instantly.

For a moment, everything went blurry.

The beast pinned me there, its weight crushing, its claws digging into my shoulders as it snarled in my face.

My wolf roared inside me.

"Enough!" I growled.

Anger surged through me, hot and violent.

I stopped holding back as a brutal shift tore through me instantly.

Immediately my Bones cracked and moved. Muscles stretched and expanded. My body grew larger, stronger, and fur burst from my skin as my wolf took over.

It had been a long time since I shifted.

But the moment I did, power flooded me.

I roared.

The sound shook the cave.

The beast jumped back, surprised.

Now we were equal in size.

No.

Now we were three.

The two prime beasts and me.

They stared at me, their eyes burning with excitement.

The grey one attacked first again, and this time I met it head-on. We collided in the air, teeth snapping, claws tearing.

Pain shot through my side as its claws ripped into me, but I bit down hard on its shoulder, tasting blood.

It howled and twisted, throwing me off.

The black one attacked from the side, and we rolled across the ground, crashing into rocks and breaking them.

The fight was brutal and wild.

We bit.

We tore.

We slammed into each other again and again.

Blood covered the ground. Growls and roars filled the cave.

The grey one lunged at my neck, and I dodged, then slammed my body into it with all my strength.

It staggered.

I attacked again, faster this time, using my full power.

I grabbed its neck with my jaws and twisted it.

It fought back, claws digging into my chest, but I did not let go.

With a final burst of strength, I slammed it into the ground hard.

The cave shook. freeweɓnøvel.com

Dust exploded into the air.

The beast crashed into the stone, the impact loud and violent.

We both roared at each other, our bodies tense, blood dripping, eyes locked in a deadly challenge.

And neither of us was ready to back down "Both of you will listen to me and fucking cooperate!"
