Chapter 207: Chapter 207

Riley’s POV

The moment Summer said those words, I dropped my hand without thinking twice.

The force holding Emberkin disappeared instantly, and his body fell hard to the ground. The sound of it echoed through the hall, and for a second everything went quiet.

I stood there, still, my hand slowly lowering to my side as my breathing remained ragged. I could feel all eyes on me, and I did not need to turn to know that everyone had seen what I just did.

I had seen it too. I had felt it. And I did not understand it even.

I had never used power like that before, not even close, and the fact that it came so easily made something inside me uneasy. It did not feel like something new. It felt like something that had always been there, just waiting for a moment like this.

I pushed that thought aside and focused on what was in front of me.

Emberkin was on the ground, trying to steady himself. He coughed slightly and braced one hand against the floor as he adjusted. He was not as composed as he had been earlier, and that alone told me I had affected him more than he wanted to show.

I walked toward him without hesitation.

Each step was steady and I stopped right in front of him before reaching down and grabbing his collar. I pulled him up forcefully until he was facing me. His eyes met mine, and for a moment neither of us spoke.

"Reject the bond," I said. My voice was clear, firm and direct. There was no room for negotiation in it. frёewebnoѵēl.com

He looked at me for a second and then a slow smile appeared on his face.

"Never," he replied.

The calm way he said it made my grip tighten immediately. I clenched my fist without thinking and I pulled my arm back, ready to hit him hard enough to wipe that expression off his face.

Before I could move, Summer stepped in again.

"Riley, stop," she said quickly.

Her voice was urgent and it cut through my anger just enough to make me pause.

"You cannot hurt him like that," she added.

I glanced at her, then back at Emberkin. He was still watching me closely, and that same look was still there. I released him suddenly, letting his body drop back to the ground.

I stepped away from him and turned fully toward Summer.

There was something about her that made me listen, even when I did not want to. She was too young to be this calm in a situation like this, and yet she stood there like she understood everything that was happening.

"And what am I supposed to do then?" I asked.

My voice was still firm but it was more controlled now.

She raised her hand slightly, and that was when I saw the knife she was holding.

The same knife.

The one that had been used to stab Gunnar.

My attention fixed on it immediately, and something inside me tightened again. That weapon had done something to Gunnar. It was not just a normal blade and I knew that the moment I saw it.

Summer stepped closer and held it out to me.

I took it from her slowly, my fingers closing around the handle as I looked at it carefully.

"She stabbed my Daddy with this knife," Summer said.

Her voice was firm even though everything around us was not.

I nodded slightly, still looking at it.

"But you are not going to stab him with it," she continued. fгee𝑤ebɳoveɭ.cøm

I looked up at her. "Then what am I going to do with it?" I asked.

"There is a mark at the back of his neck," she said. "At the nape. That is where the bond is tied to you."

I listened closely.

"Because this bond is not real, it did not form naturally," she continued. "It was created through blood, not a true mate bond. That makes it weaker than it looks."

That explained a lot more than I expected.

"It also means it can be removed," she added.

I felt my grip on the knife tighten slightly. "How?" I asked.

"You use the knife," she said. "You cut into his back and carve out the mark. You keep going until his blood drops to the ground. Once that happens, the bond breaks."

There was no hesitation in her explanation. She spoke like she had seen it before. Or like she had been told exactly how it worked.

For a moment, the hall was quiet again.

Then I turned. My eyes landed on Emberkin. He had gone completely still.

The confidence he had earlier was no longer there.

He was watching me now with full attention, and I could see the change in his expression. He understood exactly what I was about to do.

I started walking toward him again, the knife still in my hand.

"Do not come any closer," he said immediately.

His voice was not as steady as before. That alone told me everything I needed to know.

I did not stop. "You do not get to tell me what to do," I said.

I kept moving forward. "You already lost that right."

He pushed himself up slightly, watching me closely. His body was tense, ready to react if needed but he was not as sure of himself anymore.

"Think about what you are doing," he said. "You do not fully understand the consequences."

"I understand enough," I replied.

I stopped a few steps away from him, holding the knife firmly.

"This ends now," I said.

Before I could move any closer, I heard something behind me.

Movements.

I turned my head quickly.

Ethan.

Daphne.

Wendy.

They were moving toward the exit. Clearly trying to leave while my attention was on Emberkin.

My expression hardened immediately.

"Stop right there," I said to them.

My voice carried clearly across the hall and they froze. All three of them.

I turned fully to face them now. "You think you can leave?" I asked.

No one answered. That made my anger sharper.

"You think you can walk out after everything you just did?" I continued.

Still no response. I did not take my eyes off them as I called out.

"Guards."

The response was immediate and I did not even expect them to obey. It was like some kind of unseen aura from me was making them submissive.

They entered quickly, alert and ready for orders.

"Lock everything," I said. "Every door. Every exit."

They nodded and moved to carry out the order.

"No one leaves this place," I added.

My eyes moved from Ethan to Daphne, then to Wendy.

"Not until each and everyone of them gets a taste of their own medicine."

The guards moved fast, securing the hall and blocking every way out. The sound of doors closing echoed through the space.

Now there was no escape.

I turned back slowly. Emberkin was still on the ground, watching me.

The knife was still in my hand. "Starting with you"
