Chapter 206: Chapter 206

Riley’s POV

Everything in the hall looked wrong the moment I really started seeing it clearly.

Gunnar was on the floor first, and I noticed him before anything else. He was barely holding himself up, his body shaking like it was fighting to stay conscious. Blood was on his mouth and chest, and he was still holding on like he could stop the damage by force alone.

I had never seen him like that before. Not once. He always looked like someone who could not be broken, no matter what was thrown at him.

Seeing him on the ground like this made my stomach tighten in a way I did not understand.

"What is happening?" I said without thinking, but no one answered me.

My feet moved before I even decided to go to him.

I reached him and dropped down immediately, my hands going to his face. His skin felt colder than it should have been, and his breathing was uneven and slow. I shook him lightly at first.

"Gunnar," I said. "Look at me."

He did not respond. I shook him again, harder this time. "Hey. Open your eyes."

Nothing.

My hands moved to his shoulders and I pulled him slightly upright, trying to keep him from collapsing completely.

"Don’t do this," I said, my voice sharper now. "You cannot just pass out right now."

Still nothing.

I looked around quickly while holding him. Cane was standing a few steps away, completely stuck between moving forward or staying still.

Caden was on the ground too, barely conscious.

Daphne was behind me with Wendy next to her.

Ethan was further back, watching everything.

Emberkin was in the middle of it all like none of this affected him.

I felt something tighten in my chest.

"Get help for him," I said loudly. "Get guards now."

Amelia reacted first and ran out immediately. Summer followed her without hesitation.

I turned back to Gunnar.

His body was getting heavier in my arms, and I could feel him slipping further.

"No," I said quietly, more to myself than to him. "You are not dying here."

I held him tighter, trying to keep him steady.

The guards came in fast after that.

"Take him," I said immediately.

They did not question me. They moved in and lifted him carefully.

For a second, I just watched them carry him out, and I realized how strange it felt not seeing him standing on his own. I had always seen him in control. Always in charge. Watching him being carried out like that made something in my chest feel harden in a way I could not explain.

I did not let myself stay on it for long.

Caden was still on the ground. I walked over to him quickly.

"Cane, take him out," I said.

Cane did not move at first.

His eyes were still on Daphne and Wendy.

"I said take him," I repeated, firmer.

"I need to stay here," Cane said. "I am not leaving you alone."

"That is not your decision to make, your two brothers are dying," I said.

He looked at me for a long moment, then finally bent down and lifted Caden.

Caden groaned slightly as he was moved.

Cane hesitated before leaving."I will come back," he said.

I nodded once, and they left.

Now the hall felt emptier.

It was just Emberkin, Ethan, Daphne, Wendy, and me.

I turned slowly and looked at all of them.

Emberkin was calm again, like nothing had changed.

"You sent them away, how brave of you," he said.

"I did," I replied.

"Brave," he said.

I ignored that and walked forward until I stopped in front of him.

"I am going to say this clearly to you," I said. "You took me. You forced me into this nonsense. You used control on my mind. You made me do things I did not choose."

He watched me without interrupting.

"And you also hurt the people I care about," I continued. "That ends now."

Emberkin tilted his head slightly."And what are you going to do about it?" he asked.

I did not answer right away.

I just looked at him. Then I said, "You think you are in control of everything. You are not."

He smiled slightly.

"You are still speaking like you have power here," he said. "You do not understand the situation you are in."

"I understand it very well," I said.

I took one more step forward.

"You are Emberkin," I continued. "Vampire lord. Son of Dracula. The one everyone fears. I know exactly what you are."

His expression stayed calm.

"And I know what you did to me," I added.

My hand slowly lifted.

I did not rush it. I just raised it and held it there.

Emberkin’s eyes followed my movement.

Then I focused.

It was not something I explained in my head. I just did it. I stopped thinking about everything else and focused only on him. Like something inside me was answering the intention I had.

Emberkin’s body suddenly lifted off the ground.

His feet left the floor completely.

The entire room reacted at once.

Ethan’s eyes widened.

"Her eyes," Ethan said suddenly. "They are red."

Emberkin grabbed his throat immediately like something invisible was holding him there. His body tensed as he tried to resist it, but it did not work. freёwebnovel.com

Whatever I was doing was holding him in place without physical contact.

He tried to speak, but no sound came out.

I stepped forward while keeping my hand raised.

"You do not get to decide anything for me anymore," I said. "You do not control me. You do not just hurt anyone I care about."

His breathing looked uneven now.

His body jerked slightly as he tried again to break free.

It did not work.

Daphne turned fully toward me.

Wendy looked unsettled now, like she was trying to decide what to do.

I tightened my focus as Emberkin reacted, struggling harder in the air.

I kept my hand steady. "What you did to me," I said. "The things you forced me in, you’re getting it ten folds."

He tried to move again but it only made it worse for him.

Then the doors slammed open and everyone turned at once.

Summer ran in. She stopped the moment she saw Emberkin suspended in the air.

Her eyes immediately went to me. "Riley," she said loudly. "Stop."

I did not respond.

She stepped forward quickly. "Do not kill him."

That made me pause slightly, but I did not drop my hand.

"You will die if you do," she said urgently. "He is still bonded to you."

The words hit me differently. Not enough to stop everything, but enough to make me hesitate.

Summer moved closer.

"Unless the bond is broken," she said. "If you kill him now, you’re gone."
