Chapter 186: Chapter 186
Riley’s POV
I didn’t move.
I didn’t blink either.
I just stood there looking at her, waiting for her to finally say it properly because I was done with half answers and pauses that didn’t explain anything.
"Carian," I said, my voice firm and steady, "whatever you did, just say it clearly."
I was impatient already.
She held my gaze, and I could tell she already knew there was no point hiding anything anymore.
"I bound you to someone else," she finally dropped.
I frowned immediately. "What does that even mean?"
Her jaw tightened slightly before she continued. "I made you a bloodhost to another person."
Everything in me went still.
I stared at her, trying to process that properly, but it didn’t make sense at first because I already knew what I was to Gunnar, I already understood that connection, and now she was telling me there was another one, there was another fucking person?!
"That’s not possible," I said slowly. "You can’t just make someone a bloodhost twice."
Her expression didn’t change.
"I did," she said.
My chest tightened, and I felt anger start building up fast inside me.
"How?" I demanded. "How would you even do something like that?"
She took a slow breath before answering. "After I found out you were his bloodhost, I couldn’t accept it. I couldn’t stand the idea that he chose you without even knowing it, while I tried everything and he ignored me completely."
I didn’t interrupt her.
I let her talk.
"I was angry," she continued. "And I was jealous too, more than I had ever been before, and instead of dealing with it properly, I made a choice that I shouldn’t have made."
I clenched my jaw. "What did you do?"
"I went looking for something stronger," she said.
That didn’t sit right with me at all."Stronger than what?" I asked.
"Stronger than him," she replied.
That made my stomach tighten immediately.
"There are things out there that even our parents warned us about," she continued. "Things that shouldn’t be touched, things that come with consequences that can’t be undone easily."
I didn’t like where this was going.
"And you still went ahead anyway," I asked.
"Yes," she admitted without hesitation.
I shook my head slightly. "You really didn’t think this through, did you?"
"No," she said. "I didn’t."
I let out a slow breath, trying to stay calm, but it was getting harder by the second.
"What exactly did you do?" I asked again, this time more direct because I needed the full truth.
"I performed a binding," she said. "A forbidden one."
My eyes narrowed. "On me?" ƒгeeweɓn૦vel.com
"Yes."
I laughed once, but there was no humor in it. "Without me knowing."
She didn’t deny it.
"I used your blood," she continued. "And his."
That made me freeze.
"His?" I repeated.
She nodded.
"The one I chose," she said.
I stared at her. "Who?"
She didn’t answer immediately, and that hesitation made everything worse.
"Carian," I said, my voice sharper now, "who did you bind me to?"
She looked at me like she was about to say something that couldn’t be taken back.
"Emberkin," she said.
I frowned. "I don’t know what that is."
"You will," she replied. "Very soon."
That didn’t help.
"Who the fuck is Emberkin?" I asked again.
She held my gaze. "He is the only surviving son of Dracula, the vampire lord."
Everything went silent in my head.
I stared at her, trying to see if she was joking, but she wasn’t.
"That’s not funny," I said.
"I’m not joking," she replied.
I ran a hand through my hair, pacing slightly now because I couldn’t just stand still anymore.
"You’re telling me," I said, trying to keep my voice steady, "that you tied me to some... vampire prince or whatever he is, without my consent, because you were jealous?"
"Yes," she said.
"How did you even get his blood?" I asked further.
"We’re the strongest witches to exist Riley, anything is possible"
I stopped pacing and turned to her sharply. "Do you even hear yourself right now?"
"I do," she replied calmly.
"And you still think saying sorry is going to fix that?" I asked.
"I’m not asking for forgiveness," she said. "I’m telling you the truth."
I stared at her, my anger rising more now because of how calm she was being about it.
"What happens now?" I asked.
She didn’t hesitate."He will come for you."
That made my chest tighten again."When?" I asked.
"I don’t know," she replied.
I shook my head. "That’s not a fucking answer."
"He already knows," she added.
That made it worse.
"What do you mean he knows?" I asked.
"The bond connected you both," she explained. "Once it was completed, he would not stay put for long."
I exhaled sharply. "So basically you sold me twice."
I let out a small laugh again, shaking my head. "This is insane."
"Listen Riley he is not like Gunnar," she continued.
I looked at her. "Explain."
"He is stronger," she said. "Far stronger."
I narrowed my eyes. "Stronger than Gunnar? Stronger than the brothers together?" I asked.
"Yes," she said again.
That made me pause.
Because if that was true, then this wasn’t just a problem.
"He doesn’t hold back, and he doesn’t care about anything except what he wants."
"And what he wants is me," I asked because it sounded ridiculous right now.
I clenched my fists slightly. "And you expect me to just stand here and take that?"
"No," she said.
I looked at her. "Then what do you expect me to do?"
"That’s why I need your help," she replied.
I laughed again, this time louder. "You need my help?"
"I do"
"You created this problem," I said. "You dragged me into something I didn’t ask for, and now you need my help to suddenly fix it?"
"I can’t fix it alone," she said.
I stared at her, trying to understand how she could say that so calmly.
"What exactly do you want me to do?" I asked.
She stepped closer slightly.
"The bond can be broken," she said.
I narrowed my eyes. "And what’s the cost?"
She didn’t answer immediately.
That alone told me everything.
"Carian," I said, my voice low now, "what’s the cost?"
She looked at me, and for the first time since this conversation started, she didn’t look completely steady.
"It’s dangerous," she said.
"That’s not what I asked," I replied.
She hesitated again and that hesitation made me even more scared
"I need you to trust me," she said.
I let out a short laugh. "Trust you? After everything you just told me?" I asked.
She didn’t respond to that.
I shook my head slowly. "You really don’t understand how bad this sounds, do you?"
"I do," she said quietly.
"Then say it clearly," I replied. "What did you really do to me, Carian?"
She held my gaze.
And then she said it properly this time.
"I split your blood," she said. "I tied it to two different beings, and now both of them can claim you."
My stomach dropped.
"And the second one," she continued, "is not someone you can fight easily."
I stared at her, my mind racing now.
"Who exactly is he?" I asked again.
She took a slow breath. "He is called the Emberkin," she said. "The last son of Dracula."
My chest tightened again."And he’s coming for me," I said.
"Oh fucking hell! Why do everyone keep using me? I’m not a fucking goalkeeper for goodness sake!"
I stayed quiet for a moment. Then I looked at her again.
"Now the sin you committed," I said slowly, "is turning me into something I never agreed to be."
She nodded."Because of what I did and because of what you’re, Mom wiped off your memories and took you to crescent to a childless couples"
I clenched my jaw."And now you want to fix it," I added.
I stared at her for a long moment and then I spoke.
"You better have a real plan," I said, my voice steady but serious now, "because if this thing comes for me and I’m not ready, that’s on you."
