Chapter 127: Chapter 127

Riley’s POV

My body was already starting to feel weak.

At first the bite had only made my heart race, but now every second felt heavier. Gunnar was still holding me tightly against him and his fangs were still buried deep in my neck. I could feel the steady pull of my blood leaving my body.

It was not slowing down. It was not stopping.

My fingers were gripping his shirt so tightly that my hands were shaking, but I barely had the strength to hold on anymore.

My vision was starting to blur around the edges.

Behind me I suddenly heard a loud thud.

Then another one. Through the fog in my head I turned my eyes slightly and saw something that shocked me.

Caden and Cane had moved toward Ethan.

Ethan was still coughing weakly on the floor after Gunnar had nearly crushed his throat, but before he could even react the two brothers hit him.

Hard.

Caden’s fist slammed straight into Ethan’s face.

The impact was so heavy that Ethan’s head snapped sideways.

Before he could recover Cane punched him again.

The second punch was even worse.

Ethan’s body went completely limp and he collapsed back onto the floor.

He didn’t move again.

My eyes widened weakly. They had knocked him out unconscious.

Without saying a word the two brothers grabbed Ethan by the arms and dragged him across the floor toward the doorway.

The sound of his body scraping across the ground echoed in the room.

A moment later they pulled him completely outside and the door slammed shut again.

Now the only sound in the room was Gunnar. And me. And the horrible sound of him drinking.

My knees felt like they were about to give out. My head was spinning badly now.

I tried to speak but my voice came out weak.

"G-Gunnar..."

He didn’t respond.

His grip only tightened around my waist as if he was afraid I might escape him.

My body sagged slightly against him because I was losing strength quickly.

I could feel the blood leaving my body faster than before.

Fear gripped my chest.

’He’s not stopping.’

The door suddenly burst open again.

Fast footsteps rushed inside the room. Someone had run in.

My blurry eyes shifted weakly toward the entrance.

It was the same woman from earlier.

The moment she saw us her expression changed immediately.

Her eyes widened.

"Oh no," she whispered under her breath.

Caden and Cane came rushing in behind her.

It looked like they had gone to get her. fгeewёbnoѵel.cσm

The woman moved closer quickly but stopped a few steps away when she saw Gunnar still feeding from my neck.

"We have to stop this quickly," she said urgently.

Her voice sounded tense now.

Caden frowned deeply.

"Mother," he said, sounding confused and frustrated at the same time, "but you were the one who told us her blood might help balance the unstable part of him."

He sounded like he didn’t understand what was happening.

The woman shook her head slowly."Yes, that was my belief," she said quietly.

Her eyes were still locked on Gunnar.

"But it seems the situation is not what I thought it was."

Cane stepped forward slightly. "What do you mean?" he asked.

My heart was pounding slowly now.

Their voices sounded distant in my ears but I was still hearing everything they said.

The woman took a slow breath."I believe she is something much more important to him."

Caden frowned deeper."What are you saying?"

The woman finally turned her gaze toward me.

Her eyes looked serious. Then she spoke the words that made my stomach drop.

"Gunnar’s real father had someone bound to him by blood before he died," she said.

"A rare bond that only a few vampires ever have."

She paused for a moment.

"And I believe Riley is the one bound to Gunnar in the same way."

Cane blinked in disbelief.

"Wait... are you saying Riley is his bloodhost?"

Her voice was calm but firm."Yes."

The word felt heavy in the room.

My mind struggled to understand it. Bloodhost?

Caden looked stunned.

"You mean... she’s the one person his body recognizes as its source?" he asked slowly.

The woman nodded.

"Yes. The one person whose blood can feed him without driving him into madness. The one person his instincts will seek out again and again."

My breathing became uneven. And the words they were saying were starting to terrify me.

Cane ran a hand through his hair in frustration.

"Not only are we her mates," he muttered, "but she’s his bloodhost too."

He let out a sharp breath."Oh shit."

Caden’s jaw tightened."What are we supposed to do now?"

The woman looked back at Gunnar. Her expression became serious again.

"The wolf inside him has been the only thing keeping him stable all these years," she explained.

"His wolf balances the darkness that comes from his vampire blood."

Her voice lowered slightly."But Sebastian has bound his wolf."

My heart skipped painfully.

"So right now the only thing controlling him is his feral vampire instincts."

Cane cursed under his breath."And if those instincts fully take over?"

The woman didn’t hesitate."He will hunt." Her voice was quiet but clear. "And he will drain anyone he can reach."

A cold wave of fear ran through my entire body. My fingers weakly clutched Gunnar’s shirt again.

So that’s what this was.

He wasn’t just feeding. He was losing control.

Caden looked back at me with something like worry in his eyes.

"And because she’s his bloodhost..." he said slowly.

The woman finished the sentence. "He will crave her blood above all others."

My breathing became shallow.

"So if he keeps drinking from her like this..."

Cane spoke the words none of them wanted to say. "He might drain her completely."

Silence filled the room again. My heart pounded weakly.

They were talking about me dying like it was a real possibility.

And the worst part was that I could feel it happening.

My body felt lighter. My legs barely held me up now.

Caden’s voice came out tense."What do we do?"

The woman’s gaze sharpened."We have to stop him before he takes too much, more than she can give right now."

"But we cannot fight him directly right now."

Cane frowned."Why not?"

"Because if we provoke him while he is feeding," she explained, "his instincts will treat us as threats and he will attack."

Caden cursed softly."So we can’t pull him away."

The woman slowly reached into her coat."Not physically," she said.

She pulled out a small case. My blurry eyes focused weakly on it.

Inside was something that looked like a syringe.

She calmly filled the syringe with a dark liquid from the small case.

My heart began racing again even though my body felt weak.

Cane looked confused."What is that?"

"A sedative strong enough to slow his system for a few minutes," she replied.

"Just enough to break his feeding instinct."

Caden nodded quickly."Then do it."

The woman stepped forward carefully. Every movement she made was slow and controlled.

Gunnar was still completely focused on my neck.

His arms were tight around my body as he continued drinking.

My head felt so light now. I wasn’t sure how much longer I could stay conscious.

The woman moved behind him silently.

Caden and Cane both stood still, watching nervously.

I could hear my heartbeat in my ears. Slow. Weak as the woman lifted the syringe. Then in one quick movement—

She drove the needle straight into Gunnar’s neck.

Gunnar froze instantly.

A deep growl exploded from his throat. The sound vibrated through his chest and into my body.

For a second I thought he was going to lose it completely.

His arms tightened around me. Then suddenly—

His fangs pulled out of my neck and air rushed into my lungs.

I gasped loudly.

My legs immediately gave out beneath me.

But before I could fall Caden rushed forward and caught me.

"Careful!" he said quickly.

My body felt extremely weak now. I could barely lift my head.

Behind him Gunnar staggered back a step. His glowing eyes flickered with confusion and rage.

Then slowly his body started to sway.

The sedative was working.

Cane grabbed him quickly before he collapsed.

"Easy," he muttered.

Within seconds Gunnar’s eyes rolled back slightly and his body went limp.

Cane lowered him carefully to the floor.

My breathing was shaky as Caden was holding me upright while pressing a cloth against my neck.

"You lost a lot of blood," he said softly.

I tried to speak but my voice barely came out.

"Am... Am I going to die?"
