Chapter 126: Chapter 126

Riley’s POV

"Ethan?"

The name escaped my mouth before I could stop it.

Shock rushed through my body as I stared at the man standing in the destroyed doorway.

For a second I genuinely thought I was imagining things because there was absolutely no reason for Ethan to be here inside Obsidian Veil.

But he was real.

Standing there breathing heavily with anger burning in his eyes.

"What—what the hell are you doing here? How are you here?" I demanded in disbelief.

The room had gone completely silent for a moment as everyone turned to look at him.

Caden and Cane both stiffened instantly.

But Ethan was not even looking at them, his eyes were locked on me. Then suddenly his nose twitched and he sniffed the air slowly. His expression changed immediately and his eyes widened.

"You’re... in heat?" he said slowly.

The way he said it made my stomach twist.

His eyes darkened as something dangerous flashed inside them.

"That’s impossible," he continued.

"There’s no way you can be in heat."

His gaze moved slowly down my body and then back to my face.

"You’re just a human woman."

His voice turned rough. "How the hell are you in heat?"

Then he sniffed the air again.

And his expression changed even more. Confusion mixed with hunger and lust.

Slowly he started walking toward me. freewebnøvel.com

Each step felt heavy with a deadly intention.

But that was a terrible mistake.

Because the moment Ethan took another step toward me...

A terrifying growl exploded through the room.

The sound came from Gunnar. It was deep and violent and filled with pure rage.

Before anyone could react, Gunnar moved.

One second he was across the room. The next second he was on Ethan.

The speed was unbelievable.

Even my eyes barely caught the movement.

Ethan barely had time to react before Gunnar slammed into him with brutal force.

The impact sent Ethan crashing backward.

The chains attached to Gunnar rattled violently as he lunged forward with deadly strength.

Ethan hit the ground hard.

But before he could recover Gunnar grabbed him by the throat and lifted him straight off the floor.

My eyes widened."Oh my God!"

Ethan struggled immediately.

His hands grabbed Gunnar’s wrist as he tried to break free.

But Gunnar’s grip did not move. It looked like a freaking iron.

Ethan’s feet kicked slightly as he tried to breathe.

Then his eyes suddenly widened. Because he had finally noticed something.

Gunnar’s fangs.

The sharp white fangs that were fully visible now as he growled down at him.

Ethan stared in stunned disbelief."You... you’re a vampire?" he choked out.

His voice was filled with shock."You’ve been hiding that all along?"

But Gunnar did not answer.

His eyes were glowing dangerously as he stared at Ethan like he was nothing more than prey. freeweɓnøvel.com

A threat. Something that needed to be destroyed.

His grip tightened around Ethan’s throat and Ethan gasped for air.

His hands clawed desperately at Gunnar’s arm.

But it was useless.

The strength difference between them was terrifying.

Even though Ethan was an Alpha werewolf he looked completely helpless.

Across the room Caden cursed under his breath.

"Shit."

Cane stepped forward nervously."We cannot let him kill him."

Caden nodded sharply.

"If Gunnar commits his first kill while he is like this it will make everything worse."

They both started moving toward Gunnar.

But before they could reach him another violent growl burst from Gunnar’s throat.

The sound was so threatening that both brothers stopped immediately.

They knew that sound. That was the warning growl of a predator ready to attack anything that came closer.

Caden lifted his hands slightly."Gunnar," he said carefully.

But Gunnar was not listening. Right now he only saw Ethan as a threat.

Ethan’s struggles were getting weaker. His face was turning pale. His breathing had become shallow.

It looked like Gunnar was actually going to kill him.

And nobody could stop it.

My heart started racing.

This was going to turn into a disaster.

If Gunnar killed Ethan like this everything would spiral out of control and they might actually find out what he’s been hiding.

Without thinking I moved. I rushed forward quickly and stepped right in front of Gunnar.

"Stop!"

My hands grabbed his arm instinctively.

The moment my skin touched him something electric ran through my body.

His glowing eyes snapped toward me instantly. For a second everything felt frozen.

Then I spoke quickly before anyone could react.

"Take me instead," I said breathlessly.

My voice sounded desperate. "Mark me Gunnar, that’s what you want so please do it."

Everyone in the room went silent."Take my blood," I continued quickly."Ethan is not worth killing."

Gunnar stared at me.

His breathing was heavy. For a moment I thought he might ignore me.

Then suddenly his grip loosened and Ethan collapsed to the ground coughing violently as air rushed back into his lungs.

But Gunnar was no longer looking at him. His entire attention was now focused on me.

His eyes looked even more darker now, deadlier.

Slowly he stepped closer towards me but I did not move.

Even though my heart was beating so fast it almost hurt.

His hand reached out and grabbed my arm firmly.

Then without hesitation he pulled me closer to him.

My breath caught in my throat. His face moved near my neck.

I felt the cold brush of his breath against my skin.

Then suddenly—

His fangs sank into my neck again.

A sharp gasp escaped my lips as the bite sent a shock through my entire body.

The pain lasted only a moment. Then it changed into something strange.

Something warm and overwhelming. I could feel him drinking my blood yet another time.

His arms tightened around me as he held me close.

The room felt like it was spinning slightly as the strange warmth inside my body spread again.

Even stronger this time.

My hands gripped his shirt instinctively to steady myself.

Behind us I heard Caden speaking urgently to Cane but their voices sounded distant.

Right now all I could feel was Gunnar’s grip around me.

And the steady pull of my blood as he drank.

But the longer he fed...

The more I started to realize something frightening.

He was not stopping this time unlike earlier.

And if he did not stop soon...He might actually drain me and I will die.
