Chapter 122: Chapter 122
Ethan’s POV
No.
Riley is mine.
The thought kept repeating inside my head as I had arrived and walked through the long stone halls of Obsidian Veil.
Mine.
Only mine.
I clenched my jaw as anger burned inside my chest.
Everything that had happened was a mistake.
A simple mistake.
I trusted the wrong person.
Wendy.
That stupid woman had filled my head with lies and I believed her like an idiot.
Over the years in my marriage, she had once told me Riley was betraying me.
She had also told me Riley was secretly planning things behind my back, including taking the company away.
She told me Riley did not love me anymore and was just pretending.
And I believed every word.
I ruined everything because of that.
But that did not change the truth.
Riley belonged to me.
She loved me before.
She would love me again.
I just needed to take her back.
My fists clenched tightly as I walked.
"I will get you back Riley," I muttered quietly to myself.
"I do not care what I have to do."
My eyes darkened slightly.
"Even if I have to fight the three Alphas of this pack."
By the time I had arrived at this place it was already evening.
The sky outside had grown darker and the cold air made the pack grounds feel tense and quiet.
But the moment I stepped inside the pack chambers something felt wrong.
Very wrong.
People were rushing around everywhere.
Warriors were standing in groups whispering urgently.
Some servants looked frightened as they hurried down the halls.
Others were carrying things around like something serious had happened.
I frowned slightly.
"What is going on here?" I muttered.
Nobody stopped me as I walked past them.
Most of them were too distracted by whatever chaos was happening around them.
That worked perfectly for me.
I did not want anyone stopping me anyway.
I walked directly toward the Alpha chambers.
If Riley was anywhere in this pack house she would be with them.
My steps grew faster as I reached the large door.
Without hesitation I pushed it open.
The room inside was empty.
My eyes quickly scanned the space.
Nothing.
Riley was not there.
My jaw tightened "Fuck."
The curse slipped out loudly as frustration hit me.
Where the hell was she?
I turned around angrily and walked back toward the door.
But the moment I stepped out I bumped into someone.
The impact made both of us stop.
I looked up immediately. Then my brows pulled together.
Standing in front of me was an older woman.
Her posture was straight and calm and her eyes were sharp as she looked at me.
Something about her presence felt powerful.
Then recognition slowly hit me.
Wait—
Luna Catherine.
The mother of the Alphas.
My eyes narrowed slightly.
I had heard rumors about her.
Everyone said she had gone mad years ago.
They said she had not stepped outside her chambers for almost eight years.
Yet here she was standing in front of me looking perfectly calm.
And very much not mad.
She stared at me with clear scorn in her eyes.
"How did the guards let you walk freely into the Alpha quarters?" she said coldly.
Her voice was sharp and filled with irritation.
"These guards truly need real punishment for their stupidity."
I felt irritation rise inside me immediately.
Who did she think she was talking to like that?
I straightened slightly and glared at her.
"Why do you care how I got in here?" I said bluntly.
Her eyes narrowed slowly.
"Careful, Ethan Forlorn," she replied calmly."I am still the Luna of Obsidian Veil."
Her voice became slightly colder. "You would do well to show proper respect."
But I did not bow. And I did not apologize.
Instead I stepped slightly closer to her.
"And what if I do not?" I asked.
For a moment she simply looked at me.
Then something strange happened.
She smiled.
But it was not a friendly smile. It was the kind of smile that made the hair on the back of my neck stand up.
"If you do not," she said slowly, "then perhaps everyone here will learn the truth about you."
My brows pulled together."What stupid truth are you talking about?"
Her eyes remained locked on mine.
"The truth about how you strangled your own mother to death," she said calmly.
My heart stopped.
"And how your obsession with your stepsister pushed you to do it."
For a moment I could not breathe.
My mouth fell open in shock."How do you—" fɾēewebnσveℓ.com
The words got stuck in my throat.
How did she know that?
Nobody knew about that.
Nobody.
My thoughts raced quickly.
Then suddenly realization hit me.
She was a seer.
Of course.
I had heard the rumors before.
Luna Catherine had the ability to see things others could not.
My chest tightened as anger and panic mixed together.
She simply looked at my reaction calmly.
Then she turned and started walking away like the conversation was already over.
But after a few steps she paused. She looked back at me over her shoulder.
"And if you are looking for the Alphas," she added quietly, "I suggest you do not disturb them right now."
Her eyes held a strange look."They are not in the mood to entertain foolish visitors."
My jaw tightened. "I am not afraid of your sons," I said sharply.
She chuckled softly."Oh I know you are not afraid."
Then her expression darkened slightly."But you should be at this moment."
My chest tightened as she continued."Because tonight they might actually rip your insides apart gauge your eyes out"
Her words hung in the air for a moment. Then she turned and walked away without another word.
I stood there frozen for several seconds.
My mind was racing. How much did she know?
If she revealed what I had done everything would be over for me.
My hands clenched tightly.
No.
She would not expose me.
At least not yet.
Otherwise she would have done it already.
I took a slow breath and forced myself to calm down.
This did not matter right now.
The only thing that mattered was Riley.
I needed to find her.
My eyes slowly scanned the hallway. Something strange was happening in this pack house that I did not know yet.
The tension in the air was too strong to ignore.
And Luna Catherine’s warning made me even more curious.
What exactly were the Alphas dealing with that they’re nowhere to be seen? It was very unusual.
I clenched my fists. Then a small smile slowly appeared on my face.
If something serious was happening inside this pack...
Then it might be the perfect opportunity for me.
Because chaos always made it easier to take what belonged to you.
And Riley belonged to me.
