Chapter 110: Chapter 110

Cane’s POV

Bane suddenly grabs my arm and pulls me hard.

"Run!"

For a moment I am too stunned to react.

"Are you serious right now?" I snap angrily as he drags me forward through the marsh.

But Bane does not slow down.

He keeps moving fast and pulling me with him.

"Run!" he repeats again.

My anger immediately spikes.

"Why the hell would an Alpha run from danger?" I shout at him as I jerk my arm away from his grip.

But he keeps moving beside me.

"I know you can kill them," he says quickly.

"Then what is the problem?" I growl.

"We must run," he answers firmly.

The Gravemaws behind us suddenly release a loud chorus of guttural growls.

Their feet slam into the muddy ground as they start chasing us.

I glance back quickly.

They are moving fast.

Way too fast for creatures that look half dead.

Their bodies move in strange jerky motions and their teeth snap loudly with every step they take.

"Unbelievable," I mutter under my breath.

Bane and I run through as quickly as possible.

The mud splashes under our boots and the twisted trees rush past us as we move.

But every time I glance back those things are still behind us.

And they are not slowing down."Why are they still following?" I growl.

"Because they are Gravemaws," Bane replies quickly.

"That explains absolutely nothing," I snap back.

We keep running.

The marsh slowly begins to thin out and the crooked bridges of the Tithers town come into view again.

The moment the Tithers see what is behind us they react immediately.

Several of them shout loudly and run in different directions.

Some of them climb up onto the houses while others jump into the buildings and slam their doors shut.

Cowards.

"Bastards," I mutter.

Bane does not even look at them.

"Keep moving," he says.

We rush across the bridges and out of the town.

Soon the outer border of the Tithers territory appears ahead.

The moment we cross it the ground becomes firmer again.

The path leading toward Obsidian Veil stretches out in front of us.

I can already see the distant tree line that marks the beginning of our territory.

But the Gravemaws are still chasing us.

Their growls echo loudly behind us and my jaw tightens.

There is absolutely no way I am allowing these disgusting creatures to cross into my pack lands, no fucking way they’re entering the gates of Obsidian veil. fгeewebnovёl.com

No chance.

I suddenly stopped running.

Bane runs a few more steps before realizing I am no longer beside him.

He turns quickly."What the hell are you doing?" he demands.

I do not answer.

Instead I slowly turn around and face the approaching Gravemaws.

They are still running toward us.

Their twisted bodies moving in unnatural ways as their teeth snap hungrily.

Bane stares at me like I have completely lost my mind.

"Cane," he says sharply.

But I step forward instead of listening to him.

The creatures slow down when they see that I am no longer running.

Then they begin spreading out slightly as they approach.

Twenty of them.

Maybe more.

Their eyes are fixed on me.

I crack my neck slowly and roll my shoulders.

Then I speak calmly without turning my head."Get behind me."

Bane stares at me.

"Cane—"

"Get behind me and watch," I say again firmly.

He hesitates for a moment. Then he moves behind me reluctantly.

The Gravemaws stop a few feet away now. Their growls grow louder as they stare at us.

I smirk slightly.

"Not even one of them will be able to get a single scratch on my body," I say calmly.

"And I do not even have to shift to do that."

Behind me I hear Bane’s sharp inhale.

"No," he says quickly."Do not fight them like that."

I ignore him.

"It will be disastrous!" he continues urgently.

But I am already moving.

The first Gravemaw lunges toward me with its jaws wide open.

I step forward and drive my fist straight into its mouth.

The impact is brutal.

Its teeth shatter instantly and its head snaps backward violently.

The creature crashes onto the ground with a loud crack.

Before it can move again I stomp down on its skull.

The bone breaks under my boot.

Another Gravemaw jumps at me from the side.

I grab its neck mid air and slam its body straight into the ground.

The force shakes the dirt beneath us. I do not give it time to recover as my fist crashes into its throat.

Once.

Twice.

Three times.

Its body goes limp.

Two more rush toward me at the same time.

One aims for my arm while the other lunges toward my leg.

I spin my body quickly and drive my elbow into the first one’s face.

Its jaw snaps sideways.

Then I grab the second one by the back of its head and smash it into the first.

Their skulls collide with a sickening crack as both bodies drop to the ground.

Behind them the others begin growling louder.

Their patience finally breaks.

They rush toward me all at once.

Good.

I step forward to meet them.

One leaps high toward my throat but I catch its arm and twist it violently.

The bone snaps loudly.

Then I swing its body into two others charging from the side.

They crash into each other and roll across the ground.

Another one tries to bite into my shoulder.

I grab its jaw with both hands and force it open wider. Then I slam my knee straight into its chest.

The ribs collapse instantly and the creature drops.

More Gravemaws keep coming.

But none of them are strong enough.

I punch one straight through its throat.

I grab another by the hair and slam its face into the ground repeatedly until it stops moving.

One manages to scratch my coat but I catch its arm before it can strike again and twist it behind its back before breaking its neck.

The fight continues for several more minutes.

Growls. Bones breaking. Bodies hitting the ground.

One by one the Gravemaws fall.

Until finally the last one collapses at my feet.

Silence slowly fills the area.

I stand there breathing heavily while looking around at the bodies scattered across the ground.

Every single one of them is dead. Behind me Bane remains completely silent.

I wipe my hands slowly on my coat and turn toward him.

Then I raise my hands slightly.

"Done," I say casually. "Now let us go."

But Bane’s expression suddenly changes.

His eyes narrow as he stares at my face.

"I fucking told you," he mutters.

I frown slightly."What?"

He steps closer. Then he points at my face. freewebnovёl.ƈom
