Chapter 104: Chapter 104

Riley’s POV

The moment that woman’s voice echoes in my head screaming "Aemoria run!" something inside me snaps.

With every little bit of strength I still have left in my body, I shove Dahlia away from me as hard as I can.

"Get off me you fucker!"

She stumbles back from the sudden push and I lose my balance too. My legs give out under me and I fall hard on the ground.

My hands immediately grab my head as another wave of pain slams into my skull.

"Ahhh—!"

It feels like my brain is being ripped apart from the inside. The flashes, the voices, the screaming people, the blood everywhere, they are still trying to force their way through my mind and I cannot stop them.

"What the hell have you done to me you bastard?!" I yell angrily while gripping my head.

My voice echoes across the clearing as I glare at her.

Dahlia straightens herself slowly like nothing serious just happened.

"I have done nothing to you," she says calmly.

Her voice annoys me even more."Nothing?!" I shout."Are you kidding me right now?!"

My head is still throbbing painfully and I feel dizzy but I force myself to sit up and stare at her.

"You just messed with my head and now I’m seeing crazy things!"

Dahlia sighs slowly."I am trying to show you the truth," she says.

Her tone is serious and steady."It is about time you knew it."

I stare at her like she has completely lost her mind."The truth?" I repeat in disbelief. "What kind of ridiculous truth is that?!"

My voice is loud and angry now."You shoved weird visions into my brain and expect me to thank you for it?!"

But Dahlia does not look bothered. Instead she tilts her head slightly and asks something that makes my entire body freeze.

"Do you remember the time you killed a scout just by looking at it?"

My breath catches immediately. My eyes widen in horror.

For a moment I cannot even speak.

Wait. Wait a second.

"How the hell do you know about that?" I ask slowly.

My heart starts beating faster as the memory hits me again.

That day.

That scout.

The moment it suddenly dropped dead after looking straight at me.

The Alphas had seen it.

They said it was strange but they confirmed that I did not kill it.

So how the hell does she know about it?

"How did you—"

I start asking but Dahlia raises a hand slightly and smiles.

"You should not worry about how I know," she says calmly.

Her words immediately irritate me again."Oh really?"

Instead of answering my question she continues speaking.

"You should worry about how to use your powers," she says.

My brows pull together instantly."My fucking what?"

"Your powers," she repeats.

My confusion only grows.

"Because they are going to come for you Aemoria."

I stare at her like she just said something completely insane.

"Who the hell is coming for me?" I ask.

My head is still aching but the pain is strangely starting to fade away little by little.

Dahlia’s expression becomes more serious."The moment your existence becomes known," she says slowly, "everything will change or perhaps crash."

I shake my head."You’re not making any sense."

But she keeps talking."You are the last heir of Emberwyn."

My stomach twists again when I hear that name."Emberwyn?" I repeat.

"Yes."

She takes a slow step closer."The bloodline that everyone believes went extinct."

My eyes narrow."Okay... I’m going to stop you right there," I say quickly.

"Because this whole conversation is starting to sound like a bad fantasy movie."

But Dahlia continues like she did not even hear me. "Every single creature that exists will hunt you once they learn the truth," she says.

My stomach tightens.

"And because of that," she continues quietly, "you will lose many people you love."

The clearing suddenly feels too quiet.

"So you should start preparing now," she finishes. "Prepare to use your powers, train it or it destroys you completely."

I stare at her for several seconds. Then I slowly rub my forehead.

"Okay... okay... hold on," I say slowly."This is insane."

Dahlia watches me carefully.

"What kind of ridiculous powers are you talking about?" I ask.

My voice rises slightly again."Because if this is about that scout thing again then I already told you that wasn’t me."

I point a finger at the ground firmly. "The Alphas said it."

"I do not have any freaking powers."

My frustration grows stronger with every word."I’m just a human okay?"

Dahlia listens quietly. Then she suddenly smiles. It is a calm smile. Too calm.

She nods slowly. "Since you are so adamant on not believing it," she says. "Perhaps I will have to force you to."

My stomach drops slightly at her words.

My brows pull together."What does that even—"

But I stop speaking the moment I notice something in her hand.

A dagger suddenly appears in her hands.

My eyes widen instantly.

The blade is sharp and dark and something is dripping from the tip.

Blood.

Real blood.

Oh my wtf have you gotten yourself into Riley? You were told not to trust anyone and this is it!

My heart sinks."What the hell are you doing with that thing?" I ask immediately.

My body reacts without thinking. I start moving backwards across the ground. Fear spreads through my chest quickly.

Dahlia holds the dagger calmly.

Her expression is strangely serious now."I am going to end your life," she says.

My breath catches."What?!"

But she is already moving.

Dahlia rushes toward me suddenly and raises the dagger high above her head.

The blade flashes in the light.

My mind goes blank."Oh hell no!"

I scream loudly and throw my arms up in front of my face.

Everything happens in the next second.

Before the dagger can reach me, a sudden powerful sound explodes through the clearing.

A heavy whoosh tears through the air like a massive gust of wind crashing down.

The ground shakes slightly.

And Dahlia’s body is suddenly thrown backwards violently.

She flies through the air like something invisible slammed into her.

Then she crashes hard onto the ground several feet away.

The impact is loud.

"Ugh—!" A painful sound escapes her mouth as her back slams into the dirt.

But it does not stop there.

Something invisible presses down on her body immediately.

She is pinned to the ground like a massive force is holding her there.

My arms slowly lower from my face.

I blink several times in confusion."What...?"

Dahlia is struggling.

Her body moves violently as she tries to get up.

But she cannot.

It is like something heavy is crushing her against the ground.

She coughs suddenly."Cough—!"

A splash of dark red blood spills from her mouth.

My eyes widen in shock.

"Holy—"

She coughs again. freёwebnovel.com

More blood.

Real blood.

I slowly push myself to my feet.

My legs still feel weak but the pain in my head has completely disappeared now.

The clearing is silent except for Dahlia’s heavy breathing as she struggles against whatever force is holding her down.

I stare at her. Then I slowly look around.

No one else is here.

No one touched her.

No one attacked her.

Then my gaze slowly drops to my own hands.

My fingers twitch slightly.

My heart begins beating faster again. A horrible realization begins creeping into my mind.

I look back at Dahlia.

Then back at my hands again.

Then back at Dahlia again.

She is still pinned to the ground.

Still coughing blood.

My mouth slowly opens.

"Wait..." I say quietly.

Then my voice rises in complete disbelief."Wait, what the hell is going on?"

My eyes widen more.

Then the ridiculous thought finally hits me fully and I almost choke on my own words.

"Don’t tell me it’s fucking me that did this?!"
