Chapter 35: Chapter 35: Homework Saves the World
Despite being propelled by Magic Power, Duan Fei’s altitude in the air was still dropping lower and lower.
Holding onto Yue Hua, Duan Fei checked his items. Besides the Crowbar, he had the Biological Culture Medium, the Healing Ointment from the first instance, the Fluorescent Agent, and the Electric Tool Team.
As for his Skills, he only had Medical Skill and Spiritual Armor, neither of which were very useful against Cuihua.
After all, he couldn’t just activate his Spiritual Armor, go down and take Cuihua’s pulse, and then shout, "You’re pregnant! Send me fifty bucks and I’ll make sure it’s a healthy one."
’The very thought is ridiculous.’
Just as Duan Fei felt he was about to meet his end and began to compose some cool-sounding last words, he was intercepted in mid-air. After gliding for a short distance, he landed steadily on a motorcycle.
Turning his head, he saw the person who had saved him shining brilliantly in the moonlight. Their silver-white hair seemed to emit a hazy glow under the moon’s rays, like mist.
A three-millimeter smile graced their fairy-like, dreamy face, and a cool voice sounded out, "Duan Someone, you really can’t manage without me, can you."
"Badmouthing my abilities the second we meet? Where are your manners!"
"I don’t know about manners, but I do know you’re a complete weakling. Otherwise, you wouldn’t have ended up being chased around."
"Let me tell you..."
"Not listening, not listening, la la la. Alright, Zhao Baimao, let’s go."
Zhao Baimao, driving the motorcycle, glanced at the two of them, annoyed.
’Why do I have to be the third wheel while you two are flirting!’
But Jinghong’s looks were a dream, and that new guy, Duan Someone, was also incredibly handsome. The two of them together were a picturesque couple, a sight that could make a hardcore face-lover like Zhao Baimao wolf down three extra bowls of rice.
Nearly drooling, Zhao Baimao decisively twisted the throttle, sending his little motorcycle rocketing forward.
Behind them, Cuihua was catching up.
Aside from having his mind controlled, he must have also had various buffing Magic cast on him. His current speed could even rival the motorcycle, and his every step left a clear footprint on the ground.
Staring at the humanoid beast, Jinghong said, "How did you guys manage to provoke this thing?"
Before Duan Fei could answer, Jinghong cut in, "Ah, well, I don’t really care. Just asking. Remember that you owe me a favor for this. You’ll have to help me with something later."
"Did I say I’d owe you a favor?" Duan Fei asked, displeased.
"You can get off the bike right now."
Duan Fei glanced at the speeding motorcycle, then back at the relentlessly pursuing Cuihua, who seemed to have infinite stamina. He could only lower his head and say, "Fine. We need to get to the TV tower in the city center. We’ve already tracked the Black Hand there. As long as we can get over there and kidnap him, we should be fine."
"Alright, got it. Zhao Baimao, you take them to the city center. I’ll go stall Cuihua."
After settling Duan Fei on the motorcycle, Jinghong leaped directly off the bike, adjusted her trajectory in mid-air, and then landed a solid kick on Cuihua’s chest.
The kick felt like it had struck an iron plate, and Jinghong felt a dull ache in her own foot.
Cuihua, on the other hand, only stumbled back a few steps and spat out a mouthful of blood, but otherwise seemed to have taken no significant damage.
"Impressive defense, but what a shame his Reaction is so slow. That won’t do."
Cuihua’s Strength Attribute had been massively boosted, but his agility and Reaction had been significantly lowered. For a master of stick fighting, this was actually a detriment.
The person controlling Cuihua clearly didn’t know how to utilize a stick-fighting expert like him, only knowing how to mindlessly boost his Attributes. Jinghong felt it was a terrible waste of talent.
Taking six Yo-Yos from her pocket, Jinghong slowly equipped them in her hands. Sharp piano wires set the Yo-Yos spinning, turning them into terrifying weapons.
As Cuihua charged at Jinghong, the six Yo-Yos spread out, weaving a massive net in the air like a spider’s web.
Cuihua, caught in the net, struggled to escape, but the six Yo-Yos wrapped around him completely, trapping him within the web’s confines.
Once Cuihua was completely immobilized, one Yo-Yo flew past and slit his throat, bringing his journey in this instance to an end.
[Cyan Dragon Team: Cuihua has been killed by Jinghong of the Cyan Dragon Team.]
Watching Cuihua’s body gradually disappear, Jinghong frowned.
’If I’d known it would be over this quickly, I shouldn’t have let them go on ahead.’
Glancing at the TV tower in the distance, Jinghong could only start walking, heading in its direction.
On the speeding motorcycle, Duan Fei also heard the system notification.
There were now six players left. On his side, there was himself, Jinghong, and Jianghu Little Ball. On the opposing side, there was Bystander A, Nemo, and a certain someone who had yet to appear.
’Jianghu Little Ball was ’borrowed’ by the enemy, so that makes four of them, plus their corresponding Magicians... This match is going to be tough.’
Staring at the Biological Culture Medium in his hand, Duan Fei began to think.
’He could just find a deserted place and slowly cultivate the ideal Yan Yuan. However, they had already used Yue Hua’s Magic to lock onto the Black Hand’s location, so launching a surprise attack later would be difficult.’
’Besides, an enemy who could hire people for a kidnapping must have some serious money and influence. Dragging this out would only put him at a disadvantage.’
Just then, a scorched smell filled the air. Something ignited in front of him, followed by a surge of roaring flames.
Trapped by the flames, Zhao Baimao was forced to stop. He then saw walls of fire rise up on both sides. At the end of the fiery path, a twelve-year-old boy leaning on a cane appeared, and beside him stood a very casually dressed Bystander A.
The boy was dressed in a white suit and a black cape. His calm eyes exuded a kingly aura, making one wonder why a Magician with such presence would participate in such a low-tier Holy Grail War.
"I am Wang Er," the boy said softly.
Duan Fei nearly burst out laughing.
The name was just as comically common as "Cuihua," and Duan Fei almost lost his composure.
"Go ahead and laugh. A king is not angered by mockery of his name."
Wang Er tapped his cane lightly and said softly, "Our positions are different, so a great battle is inevitable. Come, nameless hero, nameless Mage. Let us make this quick."
"Why should we make it quick?" Duan Fei asked. "If you’re in a hurry, feel free to leave. I definitely won’t stop you."
"I have class in the morning. I only took one day off."
Duan Fei stared blankly at Wang Er. The reason was so real it was almost jarring.
"So... have you done your homework?"
Wang Er gave a calm smile. "As one who possesses the bearing of a king, how could I be bound by such mundane, Sisyphean tasks? Before me lies a sea of stars, endless surging waves, the..."
"Have you done your homework?"
"...No."
"How about this: we help you with your homework, and we call a temporary truce?"
"...Deal."
