Chapter 1469: Chapter 209 - Demon Who Lurks At Night (2)
Satania of Wrath.
One of the Seven Deadly Sins and the ruler of the Demon Continent.
Alongside her stood Lucielle of Pride, Beelzebub of Gluttony, Asmodeus of Lust, Morsea of Greed, Levi of Envy, and Belphegor of Sloth.
Together, they were known throughout the world as the Seven Princesses of Hell.
Just hearing that title alone was enough to make most people nervous. It wasn’t some fancy nickname people had come up with for dramatic effect. The title carried weight behind it. Fear. History. Blood.
And perhaps the most infamous thing attached to their name was the fact that they were the ones responsible for Lilith’s death.
That alone was enough to make anyone understand just how terrifying they truly were.
Among those seven monsters, Satania was considered one of the most dangerous.
At least, that was what every story, rumor, and warning I had ever heard seemed to agree on.
She was said to be one of the strongest beings in the entire world.
Some stories claimed she could wipe out entire nations if she wanted to. Others said she possessed enough power to destroy the world itself with a simple snap of her fingers. Whether those stories were completely true or exaggerated over the years didn’t really matter.
The fact that people genuinely believed them was scary enough.
Most legends had at least a little truth buried somewhere inside them.
And Satania’s reputation wasn’t built on empty rumors.
A large part of her power came from the army she commanded.
An army of undead.
An endless horde made up of corpses that should have remained dead but instead continued walking under her command.
That was what she was known for.
That was what made her so feared.
On top of that, she had a reputation for being the most ruthless among the Seven Princesses.
Mammon had warned me about her before.
Actually, warning might have been putting it lightly.
She practically told me to avoid Satania at all costs.
According to Mammon, Satania was the absolute last person I wanted to encounter during my journey.
The reason was simple.
If Satania ever caught even the slightest trace of Lilith’s presence inside me, she wouldn’t hesitate.
She wouldn’t stop to ask questions.
She wouldn’t care about explanations.
She wouldn’t care whether I was innocent or not.
She would simply go berserk and try to kill me.
Not exactly the kind of person I wanted to meet over lunch.
And now...
Foriel wanted me to kill her.
Honestly, hearing that request felt so absurd that I almost wondered if I had misheard her.
"Why do you want me to kill her?" I asked.
Foriel’s expression immediately darkened.
"That woman..." she began.
Then she shook her head.
"No. That bitch."
I blinked.
For a moment, I was actually more surprised by her choice of words than by the request itself.
This was the first time I had ever heard her call someone that.
Foriel had always carried herself with a certain level of grace and composure whenever we talked. She wasn’t the type of person who casually threw insults around.
Yet she had said it without hesitation.
Without even a trace of guilt.
The amount of hatred packed into those two words was honestly impressive.
She really despised Satania.
"She killed all of my people," she continued. "And then she turned them into her playthings."
I frowned.
"Plaything?"
"You’ve heard the rumors about her, haven’t you?" she replied. "The rumors about her undead army."
I nodded.
"They’re true," Foriel continued. "Satania really is creating an army of undead."
Her voice gradually became colder.
"From what I’ve gathered, she’s trying to increase her military power. She’s preparing for some kind of conflict."
"With who?"
"I don’t know."
She shook her head.
"I genuinely have no idea who she’s preparing to fight. Maybe another nation. Maybe another powerful force. Maybe something else entirely."
She sighed.
"But whatever the reason is, she seems willing to do absolutely anything to make sure she wins. That’s why she’s creating so many undead," Foriel continued. "And she... she..."
Her voice faltered.
I watched as her hands slowly clenched into fists.
The muscles in her jaw tightened.
For a second, it honestly looked like she was grinding her teeth hard enough to crack them.
Whatever memory was running through her head clearly wasn’t a pleasant one.
Eventually, she took a deep breath and forced herself to continue.
"I heard you’re very powerful. I watched the tournament."
She looked directly at me.
"The one where you defeated the Vice Commander of the Magic Knights. I thought your fight was impressive," she said. "And that’s coming from someone who doesn’t know much about combat."
Her expression softened slightly.
"Even I could tell how extraordinary it was."
I stayed quiet and listened.
"That was when I first became interested in you. After watching that fight, I started wondering if maybe you could help me."
She paused briefly.
"Or at least become someone capable of helping me."
A small smile appeared on her face.
"And now, here we are."
I couldn’t really blame her for thinking that way.
If someone was desperate enough, they would naturally look for any possible solution.
"So tell me exactly who these people are," I said. "The ones who became undead."
Foriel’s expression immediately turned serious again.
"My people."
Then she shook her head.
"Well, not literally. Most of them weren’t beastkin."
She looked down.
"They were people from many different races."
Humans.
Beastkin.
Elves.
Demons.
And others.
"The people who helped me establish my company."
A faint sadness appeared in her eyes.
"They were there from the beginning."
I remained silent.
"They supported me."
Her voice became quieter.
"They believed in me."
Then her expression darkened.
"And then Satania took them."
The anger returned almost immediately.
"They were captured."
Her fists tightened again.
"And afterward, she turned them into undead."
The room fell silent.
Foriel lowered her gaze for a moment. freewebnσvel.cѳm
"The only reason I’m still alive right now is because they protected me."
Her voice trembled slightly.
"They stayed behind so I could escape."
I could tell she remembered every detail.
"They bought me enough time to get away."
Then she slowly raised her head.
"And because of that, they’re gone."
The determination in her eyes became almost frightening.
"They saved my life."
Her voice hardened.
"So I will take revenge for them."
There wasn’t even a hint of uncertainty in her words.
She meant every single one.
Looking at her now, it was obvious that this wasn’t some temporary grudge.
This wasn’t anger that would disappear after a few months.
This was something much deeper.
Something that had rooted itself firmly inside her heart.
And honestly, I understood why.
Anyone would be furious after something like that.
The people who helped build her future had been taken away from her.
The people who protected her had been turned into tools.
The people who sacrificed themselves so she could live were now being used by the person responsible for their deaths.
Anyone would want revenge.
The problem was who that revenge was aimed at.
Satania.
One of the Seven Princesses of Hell.
One of the people responsible for Lilith’s death.
A monster powerful enough that even Mammon warned me not to go anywhere near her.
I didn’t know exactly how strong Satania was.
But I knew enough to understand that fighting her sounded like a terrible idea.
Actually, terrible was probably an understatement.
Suicidal felt closer.
"I don’t think it’s going to be easy," I said honestly.
Foriel listened quietly.
"What you’re asking isn’t exactly a small favor."
I let out a slow breath.
"You want me to kill Satania."
Even saying it out loud sounded ridiculous.
"If she’s really as powerful as everyone says she is, then defeating her won’t be easy."
That was the most polite way I could possibly put it.
Because the less polite version sounded something like, "I’d rather not speedrun my own funeral."
"That’s understandable," Foriel replied.
To her credit, she didn’t seem upset.
She looked like she had expected that answer from the beginning.
"I’m not asking you to agree right now."
She gave a small nod.
"But I hope you’ll at least think about it."
I understood where she was coming from.
I really did.
She wanted justice.
She wanted revenge.
She wanted to honor the people who had sacrificed everything for her.
But understanding her feelings and agreeing to fight Satania were two completely different things.
The target wasn’t some random criminal.
She wasn’t some corrupt noble.
She wasn’t even a powerful king.
She was one of the Seven Deadly Sins.
A being feared across the entire world.
For all I knew, provoking her could cost me everything.
The life I had right now could disappear the moment I got involved.
So while I genuinely felt sorry for Foriel and everything she had gone through...
I couldn’t honestly say I was willing to accept her request.
At least not yet.
And definitely not fully.
