Chapter 259: Chapter 259: Arhat Is a Traitor
Zhong Yunman, a three-star female General!
Her uniform was immaculate and crisp. Every button was fastened with precision, every detail revealing her meticulous nature.
"Second Senior Sister, of course I’ve missed you," Jiang Xinghai said, taking a deep breath.
"Just call me Sister Man," Zhong Yunman said, her eyes flashing with displeasure.
Though resolute and decisive, she also possessed a delicate warmth.
"Sister Man, I’ve really missed you. I’d love to get a hug," Jiang Xinghai said with a chuckle.
Zhong Yunman burst out laughing. "Alright, Little Junior Brother, spit it out. What’s this sudden phone call all about?"
"Sister Man, my Third Senior Sister contacted you not long ago, didn’t she?" Jiang Xinghai asked, getting back to the point.
"Yes. She wanted me to investigate your parents and a man named Arhat, right?"
Hearing this, Zhong Yunman slowly rose to her feet. Her gaze was resolute and piercing, like that of a cheetah sprinting across the savanna—filled with unyielding spirit and fearless courage.
"That’s right. According to what Third Senior Sister and I have found, after my parents were rescued by the Shen Family, they were taken away by a man named Arhat," Jiang Xinghai confirmed.
Zhong Yunman said, "Arhat is indeed a member of the War Department, but..."
Her posture was as straight and tall as a poplar, upright and unyielding, yet a flicker of hesitation crossed her sharply defined features.
Jiang Xinghai sensed her hesitation. ’If something makes even you hesitate, Sister Man, it must be classified. I understand.’
Zhong Yunman stated decisively, "Little Junior Brother, Arhat is a traitor."
"A traitor!" Jiang Xinghai’s expression tightened.
’This is bad!’
"But you don’t need to worry," Zhong Yunman said all at once. "If he wants to live, he has to keep your parents safe. He’d have to have a death wish to harm them. Right now, even with my resources, I can’t find their whereabouts. They’ve most likely hidden away in some remote mountain range."
"Sister Man... you’ve been investigating for me this whole time?" Jiang Xinghai asked, steadying his turbulent emotions.
"Of course. I’ve been looking into it since before you even came down from the mountain," Zhong Yunman said solemnly.
Jiang Xinghai’s eyes instantly welled up.
’His Third Senior Sister was secretly helping him, and so was his Second Senior Sister.’
’He was sure of it. His First Senior Sister, Chu Lingyun—the world-renowned head of the Black Gold Consortium—must be helping him in secret, too.’
"Don’t worry," Zhong Yunman comforted. "You’re the only man from our Kunlun’s Jasper Pool. It’s only natural that we all help you."
"Sister Man, could you send me a copy of your findings? I want to try investigating from a different angle," Jiang Xinghai decided after a moment’s hesitation.
Zhong Yunman hesitated as well. "Your resources are too limited, and you don’t have enough eyes and ears. Just wait. I’ll give you a more detailed file when the time is right. It’ll be soon. I think I should have results around the same time as your sister Linglong."
"Are you saying that when Third Senior Sister finds Mr. Long, that’s also when you’ll be able to find my parents?" Jiang Xinghai asked, finding it hard to believe.
"I’m not ruling out that possibility," Zhong Yunman nodded.
Jiang Xinghai suddenly had a bad feeling.
’Could it be that Mr. Long faked his death and is also secretly investigating my parents’ whereabouts?’
"However, this is all just speculation for now. Until we have a final result, none of it counts for anything more than a reference," Zhong Yunman said, gazing at the evening clouds with a hopeful expression.
Jiang Xinghai nodded calmly. He and Zhong Yunman talked for over half an hour before finally ending the call.
’There’s something else I forgot to tell Third Senior Sister.’
After calming down and thinking things through, Jiang Xinghai dialed Zhao Linglong’s number.
"Little Junior Brother, I saw your message. Is there something else you’re worried about?" Zhao Linglong was on a rooftop eating hot pot, gazing out at the darkening nightscape of the Imperial City.
Jiang Xinghai said, "Senior Sister, I forgot to tell you something. Black Cloak originally sent people to kill me, but after I killed Wanyan Xiong, they aborted the mission. It’s very strange."
"There’s nothing strange about it," Zhao Linglong said. "They were just trying to gauge your strength."
"So that’s what it was." Jiang Xinghai understood.
"Also, the disguised face you wore for your life-or-death match against Wanyan Xiong has been blacklisted by the Black Cloak organization. Try not to use that ’Little Chef’ identity anymore," Zhao Linglong added with a teasing smile.
The fight was live-streamed online that night, and Zhao Linglong had watched it too.
Jiang Xinghai scratched his head with a wry smile. He had just come up with it on a whim at the time.
Shortly after, they ended their call.
Jiang Xinghai drove straight to the Feng Manor. fɾeewebnoveℓ.co๓
「At the same time.」
Inside the Feng Manor.
Near the main gate, there stood an inconspicuous building.
It was originally a storage shed.
Now, it was where Feng Lulu and Lin Liping lived.
Lin Liping sat on a bench outside the door with Feng Lulu’s arm in hers, gazing up at the moonlit, sparsely starred sky.
"Auntie, was coming here the right choice, or the wrong one?" Feng Lulu’s eyes were filled with confusion.
Ever since their arrival, the two of them had been placed in this room, which was less than ten square meters.
Even though the Feng Manor was vast, their movements were restricted to a ten-meter radius around the storage shed.
The two of them had endured endless humiliation.
