Chapter 510: Chapter 511 Bringing Up Past Grievances_1
"Why kill them? I am a pacifist," Aiden thought back to the vengeance deity.
"Don’t say things that will make my skin crawl," the vengeance deity replied.
"Let me slit their throats; when cutting grass, one must remove the roots," Lamia, who had been following behind Aiden, suggested, echoing the vengeance deity’s opinion. Qiqimora had set their "stealth" to be visible only to Aiden.
"No killing without my say-so," Aiden stopped her.
"I say, you haul my believers here to die with these people, and now you’re playing the merciful one?" the vengeance deity suddenly sneered.
"Don’t rush; they are still useful," Aiden thought back.
An alarm suddenly rang out. A door at the side of the corridor burst open, and more soldiers filed out. Several gun barrels aimed at Aiden and fired in an instant, but no bullets could leave the chambers— the "Return" Divine Word had completely sealed their means of attack.
Aiden commanded the mercury alloy golem to rush forward, knocking down these people, breaking their bones, piercing their limbs, destroying their weapons, but not taking their lives.
Aiden noticed that one of them was a demon, so he supplemented them with Anti-Magic Bullets.
No more came out. These dozen or so officers, including three demon officers, seemed to be the last line of defense before the restricted area. They were truly elite, but the power of the Divine Word was too unreasonable; it was like one power overwhelming a group.
Aiden’s direct incursion aimed to meet with them; he needed to know Professor Dodge’s exact location.
Next, Aiden commanded the mercury alloy golem to pick up an officer whose arms had been broken and confirmed with him, "Your external advisor, Professor Dodge, in which room is he?"
"..." The officer’s face turned to steel, and he remained silent.
Officers working in the restricted area were carrying out the core work of the "Infection" project. Soldiers with subpar political ideology couldn’t come here; they were the most loyal and fanatical soldiers, not easily coerced into talking.
But at that moment, the illusion of the vengeance deity next to Aiden snapped her fingers at the soldier.
The power of "Treason" was activated; although it was only for a brief two seconds, it was enough to change the officer’s expression. Then he raised his hand and pointed to a steel door at the very end of the corridor, "There..."
"Good," Aiden dropped the officer.
Aiden commanded the mercury alloy golem to stay behind to respond and cover the retreat, and he gave a meaningful look to Qiqimora.
Qiqimora nodded, applying the power of "Stealth" on Aiden. Now, all three had their presence erased.
"I say, why can’t I kill people? Seeing so many injured so painfully, I feel like giving them release!" Lamia complained by Aiden’s side, her bloodlust being stirred upon seeing so many people. The two guards she had killed earlier were not enough to satisfy her.
"Why do you bad women always want to kill at the drop of a hat?" Aiden retorted.
"I haven’t said anything," Qiqimora thought Aiden had included her too.
"I told you, let them live, they are still of use," Aiden continued while taking out The Codex again.
"Did you say that?" Lamia asked, puzzled.
"Warden, before we go in, it’s time you scratched out the redundant rule," Qiqimora reminded.
"We need to clear one thing up first; once I erase that rule, you won’t be hitting me with any sly ideas," Aiden said, looking seriously at Qiqimora.
To have Qiqimora and the other steal the Divine Artifact, Aiden had to erase the "prohibition against theft" rule, which served as his insurance, just like the past situation with Navi Drake who came carrying The Codex to bring him a head.
Once this provision is crossed out, Qiqimora could actually find an opportunity to steal the "Wordless Code" from him.
"You don’t trust us that much?" Qiqimora’s eyes widened slightly.
"To be honest, if you had a chance to snatch this thing from my hands, you wouldn’t make your move?" Aiden stared at Qiqimora as he spoke.
"Well... that’s true." Qiqimora felt she couldn’t deny it, "But now it’s different, I wouldn’t be foolish enough to cause trouble in such a dangerous place."
"That’s hard to say, I’ve been sold out by you guys, after all." Aiden brought up past grievances, "Don’t tell me you’ve forgotten the Harvest Mother Cult incident..."
"You still remember that kind of thing?" "How long are you going to hold onto that!?"
Qiqimora and Lamia almost shouted in unison.
"Don’t blame me for bringing up the past, better safe than sorry." Aiden’s face was expressionless.
"Fine, I promise I won’t make trouble this time. The ’concealment’ will remain visible to you on this end." Qiqimora sighed; this man, who actually benefitted from that incident, was still unforgiving.
"The initiative is still in your hands, you need to put it in writing... I mean, you need to swear." Aiden pointed at the first provision and said, "Absolute no betrayal of each other."
Qiqimora and Lamia looked at each other.
Ten seconds later, under Aiden’s insistence, they both had no choice but to make an oath that they would in no way betray or desert each other in this operation, and absolutely not harm one another.
"I suddenly wonder if I have been set up." Lamia muttered. ƒгeeweɓn૦vel.com
"How could you be?" It was only after this that Aiden crossed out the "no stealing" rule, but immediately after, he also crossed out the newly written "no obstructing passage" rule.
"Warden, is this... a slip of your hand?" Qiqimora was shocked once again by Aiden’s actions.
The power of sole authority can’t be used without restriction; the number of times rules can be written on the "Wordless Code" within a certain period of time is absolutely limited.
"No, this is to prevent outsiders from entering." Aiden lifted his face, "That’s why I told you to try not to kill anyone."
"Ah, I see." The goddess of vengeance suddenly realized.
Lamia and Qiqimora exchanged glances and also gradually came to an understanding.
After breaching the number restriction and entering the restricted zone, this rule was pretty much rendered useless.
As long as this provision is crossed out, the Divine Artifact that limits the number of people inside would be able to take effect again.
After they forcefully entered, this space would be in an "overloaded" state, and as long as the Divine Artifact is still effective, the soldiers from the base outside wouldn’t be able to rashly break in to provide support; of course, Mr. Bloodcoat might also have trouble entering if he can’t find the way.
They could resolve the issue without external interference.
"Our enemy is less than twenty miles away, take it easy." The goddess of vengeance warned Aiden.
It seemed that the pawns sent out to delay Mr. Bloodcoat hadn’t managed to buy much time.
"Now comes the main event." Aiden, accompanied by the two witches, walked toward the iron door, and Qiqimora used her "suspension" power on the door. The three concealed figures passed through the iron door just like that.
