Chapter 456: Chapter 456 You Are Very Brave_1
The core area playground, Halo was comfortably leaning against the long bench, endlessly preaching to the inmates gathered around:
"In this world, it’s not important to have people you dislike, but what’s crucial is that you can’t do anything about them. You always have to tolerate their existence, tolerate that a scumbag is breathing the same air as you. There will always be people you want to get rid of quickly, even if it costs you a little, but you won’t always have that chance. You can only pray that when you wake up the next day, that guy will have dropped dead. But such prayers are of no use, unless there really is a god willing to grant this wish for you..."
Aiden was looking out from the main prison building’s window at this scene, with Veronica standing beside him.
"There are fewer listeners than when I left, most people are just here for the spectacle, after all, it’s the Halo who went crazy in prison for two years," Veronica said. fɾeewebnoveℓ.co๓
"Most people indeed come for the spectacle at first, but if she keeps on talking, it will have an effect," Aiden narrowed his eyes, "This one is really quite good at inciting others’ emotions."
"Ha, who still believes in this day and age that the law can help you seek justice? Everyone here is a criminal, so I ask, how many believe in the fairness of the law? Just imagine, when someone threatens to chop off your hand or kill your family members, and you go to the police or the sheriff, will they arrest that person to protect you? Of course not, they will always act only after the fact! And they will even protect your damned enemy well, waiting for ’justice’ to be served in trial, but what you lose can never be reclaimed... Revenge needs absolute power! Immediate retribution, an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth!" Halo’s speech continued, "You must have all witnessed the miracles on my body here. Ha, just imagine if you had the power to take revenge anytime, anywhere, who would dare provoke you? This is the grace of the goddess of vengeance, just offer your absolute loyalty!"
"Just out of solitary and you’re causing trouble, quite bold of you," a jarring voice sounded from the outskirts of the crowd.
The inmates turned their heads in unison to see Aiden standing behind them with his hands clasped behind him, his back ramrod straight, and Veronica beside him with a stern face.
"Show’s over, ladies, don’t gather together like this during yard time, I have a few words to say to this charlatan here," Aiden said with a "kind" smile.
It was just a few casual words, but the gathered inmates felt an irresistible aura of authority emanating from Aiden.
And that indescribable presence, just by standing here, no one felt like shifting their attention back to Halo.
Without any protest or complaint, and in just three seconds, the dozen or so inmates around Halo disappeared from Aiden’s sight, leaving only Halo still sitting calmly on the bench.
"You can see you’ve started to get used to your own authority," Halo flashed him a grin, "The sense of majesty that comes with the ’Order’ authority is already enough to dominate these small fries in terms of momentum."
"I could have kept them in line with the prison rules, too... but you," Aiden looked into Halo’s eyes, "you’ve forgotten all the rules you memorized the moment you stepped out of solitary."
"I don’t believe your prison rules ban preaching, do they?" Halo didn’t even try to avoid his gaze, "What is not forbidden by law can be done, kid."
Autonomous region laws allow believers to have the freedom of religion and engage in lawful religious activities, and this freedom also extends to prisoners in jail.
"Indeed, there is something to be said for religious freedom," Aiden nodded with a smile, then extended his hand, "Then hand it over."
"What?" Halo was taken aback.
"Of course, the religious activities application form approved by me. Religious activities with multiple participants, including preaching, must be applied for with the prison authorities. The number of participants and the content of the activities must be declared, and they require my stamp of approval. But as I recall, I don’t seem to have received your application form. I hope I am mistaken," Aiden said meaningfully. frёewebnoѵēl.com
"This also requires your approval? That’s a bit excessive," Halo raised an eyebrow.
"Outside the cell, you need to report even when you go to the bathroom," Aiden replied calmly.
"What if I say no?"
"Remember the solitary confinement cell next to the toilet where you slept yesterday? You’ll be sleeping there again tonight."
"You’re really not making yourself likable," Halo sighed deeply, "I was just summoning a few followers."
"’Sacrifice’ combined with a bunch of brainwashed zealots, and you just had to start trouble under my watch?" Aiden frowned, "You promised you wouldn’t trip me up, right?"
"Did I?" Halo smiled nonchalantly.
Aiden realized this guy had absolutely no credibility, and he wasn’t sure if it was because of the influence of his own realm or just his nature.
He felt he had to impose some restraint on the other party.
"Stop recruiting followers in my prison, or else you’ll only have green peppers as a side dish with your meals, in addition to being thrown into solitary," Aiden said seriously, "I mean what I say."
For a moment, Halo’s expression froze.
After a while, Halo spoke up, "Kid, are you trying to... help me accumulate resentment?"
"How can eating some green peppers rebound any harm?" Aiden didn’t know what to make of this, such a trivial matter of food had somehow become so important to a deity.
Halo simply exhaled through her nose and apparently decided not to argue further with Aiden on this matter.
Then, her gaze shifted to Veronica, and a look of appreciation appeared on her face, "It’s you, the ferocious little girl. Would you be interested in worshiping the goddess of vengeance?"
"No need," Veronica declined indifferently.
"Stop proselytizing to everyone you meet, you’re acting like a flirtatious scoundrel," Aiden commented.
Just then, out of the corner of his eye, he caught a glimpse of Daili’s figure—standing out strikingly since she had the privilege of not wearing a prison uniform.
"Daili, come here for a second," Aiden called out to her with a wave of his hand.
"Warden, do you need help?" Daili, with her wide-brimmed pointed hat, came over as requested.
"I remember, among the demons you can summon, there are those that can make others behave, right?" Aiden asked.
"Is the warden asking me to plant a possessing demon in her?" Daili looked toward Halo, "But her reflective damage trait..."
"I’ve already sealed it," Aiden replied.
"Hehehe, trying to intimidate me with a possessing demon, what a great idea," Halo laughed heartily, "In fact, I never told you, but the power of ’revenge’ can actually accumulate unexpressed hatred and take revenge later."
