Chapter 238: Chapter 238 You Actually Poisoned in the Blood_1
"What? Given the chance to do a little something to raise your already-bottom-level treatment grade, you’re not happy about it?" Aiden said without changing his expression, Ophelia’s reaction was within expectations.
Rather, it would be unusual if she had immediately agreed without objection.
"Hmph, don’t bother yourself!" Ophelia bluntly refused, "Why should I care about the life or death of such low-ranking vampires? Let her die!" ƒгeewёbnovel.com
Aiden thought that a vampire of the Earl level wasn’t really considered low-ranking.
Perhaps only someone of Ophelia’s Prince-level stature would have the privilege of looking down from the top of such a disdain chain.
"Do you know why this woman came here?" Aiden pointed at the female Earl on the bed, "Today, she attempted to kidnap you from prison by holding a prison guard hostage and threatening me."
"What?" Ophelia turned to look at the female Earl, quickly ascertained she didn’t know her, then furrowed her brows, "Who are you trying to fool!?"
"I’m not fooling you. Her demand to me was to bring you out while you’re still wearing the Anti-Magic Shackles," Aiden said expressionlessly, "If I’m not mistaken, she likely planned to capture you as a hostage. As for who she intended to threaten, you probably have an idea."
Ophelia’s expression shifted slightly upon hearing this and glared again at the female Earl.
"Even if you ask her, she probably knows nothing; she was manipulated. As a result of her failure, the person behind the scenes turned her into this," Aiden added, "In order to extract as much information as possible from her, that’s why I asked you to try and save her life."
"What exactly is going on? What trouble has that idiot gotten herself into?" Ophelia stared into Aiden’s eyes, "Do you know something?"
"Didn’t he write to you?" Aiden countered; he had just yesterday suggested that Kael send a letter to Ophelia.
"A letter did arrive today, filled with nothing but pointless preaching—didn’t say anything useful at all!" Ophelia replied through gritted teeth.
It seemed Kael had completely failed to inform Ophelia of his situation...
"Save her first, then I’ll tell you," Aiden directly made an offer.
Ophelia stared at Aiden for a good while: "I have a condition too."
"Always up for bargaining, aren’t you... out with it," he said.
"Let me drink your blood!" Ophelia said, enunciating each word with emphasis.
"Oh? You specifically want mine?" Aiden raised an eyebrow, teasing, "Have you finally started fantasizing about me?"
"To hell with that! This prince has to drink that measly pig’s blood every day, and now you expect me to deplete myself to donate blood?" Ophelia pointed at Aiden, her words steeped with resentment, "Let me drink human blood! If I had a choice, of course, I’d want yours; I dream every day of draining you dry, you bastard. Just a little bit would already be letting you off easy!"
It was out of spite... If it was just letting out a little blood, Aiden didn’t really mind.
"Fine, save the person first, then we’ll talk," he nodded to Ophelia.
Ophelia then approached the female Earl, who moved her eyeballs to look at her, her eyes filled with the desire to survive.
Ophelia stretched out her hand towards the female Earl with an indifferent expression, as if a noblewoman offering her hand to be kissed.
The female Earl struggled to lift her head and opened her mouth, her fangs aiming for Ophelia’s wrist, and she bit down hard.
Ophelia frowned slightly, a flash of disgust crossing her face, but she managed to control herself and not withdraw her hand.
With the sound of gulping, the rotting wounds on the female Earl’s face and hands rapidly reversed and healed.
Ophelia frowned and endured for a long while before she finally yanked her hand back, "That’s enough, scum. How much more do you want to drink!?"
The Earl, with blood still dripping from the corner of her mouth, looked longingly at Ophelia’s pierced wrist.
Then Ophelia immediately turned her face and glared at Aiden, "It’s time for us to settle things."
"Biting the neck would be rather indecent, so I’ll let you bite the back of my hand instead," Aiden said while adjusting his sleeves.
Aiden, of course, wouldn’t let her bite his neck. Even with her magic power sealed, the fangs in a vampire’s mouth were always a threat. If he carelessly exposed his neck, she might take the chance to bite through his windpipe.
Veronica, standing behind, let out a sigh of relief.
A twitch crossed Ophelia’s cheek, "I wouldn’t even want to bite there if you asked me to! Hurry up and release this Prince from her bindings!!"
Aiden temporarily removed the seal on Ophelia’s neck and extended his hand toward her, "Come on, open your mouth."
Ophelia glared at him fiercely, then opened her mouth to display her fangs, biting down hard in retaliation for the humiliation she had suffered in the past.
Blood immediately sprang forth, flowing between Ophelia’s teeth.
Long-missed human blood! And from the very enemy she had dreamed of drinking from every day!
At that moment, Ophelia felt the blood to be scaldingly hot, more stimulating than any fresh blood she had ever tasted, like a potent liquor... no, even more intense than that.
However, after that first sensation of fiery, stimulating heat, a sharp pain quickly followed, making her entire body shudder.
It wasn’t an illusion! The blood was indeed so hot that it could scald her, as if she had gulped down Holy Water!
She immediately released her bite and reflexively spat out the first mouthful of blood, but her mouth still burned painfully.
"What’s wrong? Not to your taste?" Aiden asked with mild surprise at Ophelia’s reaction.
Ophelia didn’t reply right away, grabbing the water jug from a nearby table and pouring water into her mouth, rinsing and spitting continuously.
After a while, she finally recovered, covering her mouth and cursing at Aiden, "It’s so hot! It’s killing me! You despicable wretch, resorting to such tricks! Did you poison the blood?!"
Aiden was stunned for a moment, looking at his blood-stained hand, not immediately understanding what had happened.
Poison in the blood? Impossible, he wasn’t Avansa... besides, poisons that affect living beings wouldn’t work on the undead.
"Officer, is your hand alright?" Veronica approached with concern, offering him a handkerchief.
"Thanks," Aiden responded, beginning to wipe the blood from his hand.
The prison medic came over with prepared medicines and bandages, "Let me dress that wound for you..."
But as Aiden wiped off the blood, the medic was startled, "Huh?"
After being bitten by a vampire, there should have been two puncture wounds from the fangs on the back of Aiden’s hand.
But now there were only two very faint wounds on Aiden’s hand, that looked more like scrapes.
Moreover, these faint wounds were healing at a visible rate, quickly disappearing from view.
