Chapter 592: Chapter 592: That Woman Isn’t Joy?
The second-ranked fan took off his sunglasses, revealing eyes with the whites showing beneath the irises. His tone was tinged with dissatisfaction. "She fell asleep? Is she really that tired?"
"Yeah, please try to understand." Emil Redmond explained with the same old excuse. "Joy is under a lot of pressure at home. She has a whole family to support, so besides streaming, she has to work part-time..."
The second-ranked fan frowned. "But we made plans in advance for today. Why would she wear herself out like this?"
Emil Redmond said placatingly, "Sir, I’ll have Joy be more careful next time. Can we just leave it at that for today?"
An impatient look crossed the fan’s face. He said coldly, "If this happens again, don’t blame me for taking my business to another stream."
"Got it, got it." Emil Redmond nodded emphatically and pushed the door open. "So, sir, are you going in now? There’s a bathroom inside."
The second-ranked fan walked into the room with a cold expression.
A few small birds witnessed this and sent Fanny to inform Renee Jennings.
The little sparrow flapped its wings hard and flew to the car window. "Renee, the dark male went into the friend’s room."
"Okay, I got it." With her little bird detectives on surveillance and a listening device left by Kyle Morgan, Renee Jennings had a general grasp of the situation in Room 903.
She pressed her communication earpiece and spoke to the people on the other end. "Henry, Kai, the number two fan is in the room."
Henry Stark and Kyle Morgan were already posted at the door of Room 903, ready to go in at any moment.
The listening device wasn’t picking up any sound at the moment; Veronica Young and Emil Redmond were in the other room.
Henry Stark gave a hand signal. Kyle Morgan nodded and used the passcode from the landlord to open the door.
"BEEP—Door open."
The living room was quiet. The two of them entered, treading lightly.
Both bedroom doors were closed. They weren’t sure which room the victim was in. Just as they were about to hold their breath and listen, they saw Azalea fly toward the left-hand door.
Seeing this, Henry Stark raised an eyebrow.
Kyle Morgan glanced at him and pointed to the door on the left.
Henry Stark nodded.
Kyle Morgan walked up silently, gripped the doorknob, and tried to push it down.
It wouldn’t open. The door was locked from the inside.
He shook his head and took a few steps back.
Both men gathered their strength and kicked the door at the same time.
The door flew open, the panel slamming against the wall with a loud BANG.
The second-ranked fan’s black shirt and dress pants were scattered on the floor. He was lying on top of Nancy Yules.
He shuddered violently at the loud noise.
The shock completely killed the mood for him, and a fire of rage ignited in his chest. "Who the fuck are you, ruining my fun?"
He whipped his head around to see two men with grim expressions, one of whom was shoving a mirrorless camera in his face and filming.
"Who are you?" the second-ranked fan immediately threw a hand up to cover his face. "Stop filming!"
Kyle Morgan shouted, "Police! What do you think you’re doing?"
The commotion startled Emil Redmond and Veronica Young as well. The former stepped out of their room to check on the situation, but when he heard the word "Police," his face instantly turned pale with fright.
He scrambled back into the room to get Veronica Young, his deliberately hushed voice betraying his panic. "This is bad, there are cops! We have to run!"
"How can there be police?" Veronica Young’s eyes widened in shock, her knees feeling weak.
"I don’t know! Let’s just go!" Emil Redmond grabbed her hand and made a break for it.
But just as they reached the front door, a slender figure blocked their path.
"Get out of the way!" Emil Redmond hissed.
Renee Jennings leaned against the doorframe, her delicate features filled with disgust and contempt. "Trying to run? Too late."
"Get the hell out of my way!" Emil Redmond’s face darkened as he viciously reached for her.
However, the seemingly slender and weak girl extended her pale, slender fingers, precisely grabbing his wrist and twisting it with a clean, sharp motion.
Emil Redmond’s face twisted in pain, and he let out an agonized howl. "Aaargh... My hand! It hurts..."
"You..." Veronica Young looked frantic. She glanced around, then grabbed a screwdriver from the entryway cabinet and threatened shrilly, "Let go of my boyfriend, or I’ll stab you!"
Renee Jennings’s eyes shifted, and a scornful smile played on her lips. "Go ahead."
As soon as the words left her mouth, she lifted her foot and kicked Emil Redmond straight at Veronica Young.
Caught completely off guard, Veronica Young was sent staggering back a few steps, and finally, both of them tumbled to the floor in an uncontrolled heap.
Henry Stark came out of the room and immediately cuffed them.
Renee Jennings walked into the bedroom. The girl on the bed was covered with a blanket, while the second-ranked fan was squatting on the floor, stark naked, with his hands raised high above his head.
When Kyle Morgan saw her enter, he kicked the clothes on the floor toward the man. "Get dressed!"
Renee Jennings coldly averted her gaze and walked to the bedside to check on Nancy Yules.
She was slightly relieved to see that only a few buttons on the girl’s blouse had been undone.
’We made it in time.’
After getting dressed, the second-ranked fan asked resentfully, "Why are you arresting me? I haven’t broken any laws..."
"We can talk about whether you broke the law or not at the station," Kyle Morgan said before stepping forward to cuff him. "Out."
The second-ranked fan walked into the living room and saw Veronica Young, also in handcuffs. A look of shock instantly filled his eyes. "You..."
Veronica Young immediately lowered her head, not daring to meet his gaze.
The fan’s expression changed. He quickly realized he’d been tricked. "What the hell are you people pulling? The woman in there wasn’t Joy?"
Neither Emil Redmond nor Veronica Young said a word.
As the three were being led away, the ambulance Kyle Morgan had called also arrived.
Renee Jennings went with the ambulance to the hospital.
Sawyer soon arrived at the hospital, too, bringing a bottle of water for Renee Jennings.
"What are you doing here?" Renee Jennings took the water with a smile. "I would have been fine on my own."
"The boss’s orders," Sawyer said. "Are you waiting for the blood test results?"
"Yes." Renee Jennings nodded and changed the subject. "Is your mother recovering well?"
"She’s doing great," Sawyer said with a smile. "She bought a ton of supplements and has been taking them."
"That’s good." Renee Jennings pursed her lips, then added, "There’s still no news about your sister, by the way."
In truth, some netizens had sent her private messages, but the information they provided didn’t match Sawyer’s sister.
"It’s okay." Sawyer let out a soft sigh. "I’ve already waited sixteen years. I have the patience to wait a little longer."
Just then, a short-haired woman walked over with a nurse, looking extremely anxious.
"That’s the young lady who called the ambulance for Nancy Yules," the nurse explained before leaving.
The short-haired woman, dressed in a white blouse and a black pencil skirt, walked over in her high heels. "Hello, I’m Nancy Yules’s sister-in-law, Wendy Dawson. Are you the officers who brought her here?"
"Ms. Dawson, hello." Sawyer stood up and showed his badge, then pointed to Renee Jennings and explained, "It was my colleague here who brought Nancy Yules in."
"Thank you for your help, Officer." Wendy Dawson quickly bowed to Renee Jennings, then asked worriedly, "Officers, may I ask what happened to Nina before she came to the hospital?"
She had already asked the nurse about the circumstances of Nancy Yules’s admission.
