Chapter 1323: Chapter 1320: A VIP Arrives at the Hotel, Citywide Lockdown
Leah and Delphine were still discussing what to eat for dinner at the hotel, completely unaware that the men had already arrived at the hotel.
Due to Richard Shaw’s special identity, the local military district sent personnel to the hotel for strict control, making the hotel staff somewhat uneasy. Upon learning that they would be hosting a distinguished guest, everyone was flustered.
As a result, hotel guests noticed a strange atmosphere, with armed soldiers visible everywhere, all stern-looking, tall, handsome, exuding a killing aura, instantly revealing that a VIP had checked into the hotel, and the guests were somewhat excited.
Richard Shaw, finding it somewhat disruptive, frowned slightly and said to the person in charge of reception from the Northeast Military Region beside him, "Isn’t this too eye-catching?"
"It’s just that this area is under strict control. The Major General’s previous case stirred much hatred, so it’s better to be cautious when traveling now." The case from over twenty years ago had been revisited, affecting so many people’s interests. Richard Shaw should rightly stay in the Imperial City, but he ended up in this corner of the Northeast, and the local military district officials were even more nervous than him.
"The commander said if the Major General has time, he’d like to meet with you, or you could visit our military district for an inspection." The person receiving him said with a smile.
"I’m just here to relax, so I won’t bother the military district. Please send my regards to the commander and political commissar." Richard Shaw replied coolly. The Northeast is close to the Imperial City and is one of the military districts that leans more towards the Shaw family. If Richard Shaw hadn’t retired nearly eight years ago, he would have been at the Vice Admiral level. He knew without going what they would say, certainly urging him to return to the military district and advance further.
However, he recently felt that pursuing his wife was more important, since a wife is someone who knows the warmth throughout the seasons and accompanies you for life.
"I will certainly convey your message. If you need anything, feel free to ask anytime." The person receiving him smiled, seeing him imposing yet gentle in tone, easy to talk to, feeling relieved deep down. Suddenly receiving someone bigger than their military district’s chief officer made hosting quite a challenge.
Fortunately, Richard Shaw was on a personal trip. The higher-ups had hurriedly sent him to host, otherwise, it would have caused a big fuss, keeping everyone extremely busy.
Using his privilege, Richard Shaw stayed in the suite next to Leah and Delphine, and the whole floor was sealed off with no entry allowed.
Ignatius Leclair was an hour later than expected, not only because the snowy roads were slippery but also due to traffic jams. Tourists flock to Snow Hamlet this season for vacation. Upon arrival, he was told that reservations for non-pre-booked guests had been suspended.
Maximilian was still negotiating with the hotel, and the man’s handsome face turned somber as he called Richard Shaw.
"Did you seal the hotel?" The handsome man looked at the strictly controlled military district personnel outside, intuitively knowing it was old Richard playing tricks.
"They won’t let you stay?" Richard Shaw was slightly surprised. The Northeast was stricter than he imagined, seems well-governed, deserving of commendation.
"Heh." Ignatius Leclair coldly chuckled, aristocratically and elegantly spitting out fierce words, "Tomorrow I’ll buy this hotel, then kick all the guests out."
"I’ll have someone talk to the hotel." Richard Shaw was speechless, having been here for so long and hadn’t seen Leah yet. He was torn inside, whether to meet directly or watch from afar, continuing with the previous plan.
Ten minutes later, Ignatius Leclair successfully checked into the hotel and smoothly met with Richard Shaw.
Maximilian had someone buy super thick down jackets and sent them to the hotel; in the South Pacific, it was summer, and arriving in the Northeast with temperatures tens of degrees below zero, not to mention down jackets. If it weren’t for planes and off-road vehicles with heating, people couldn’t have come to this corner.
"This damned place is really going to freeze my ears off." Ignatius Leclair’s ears were red from frost; a person having lived in a subtropical climate for a long time, suddenly experiencing the Northeast winter, was quite indescribable.
"Haven’t you lived in the United Kingdom for years? It’s not like the climate there is mild either." Imperial City native Major General Richard expressed no pressure at all, and he used to train with his shirt off during winter in the Southwest Military Zone, coming here just needed an extra coat.
"It’s much colder here." Ignatius Leclair asked, "Are Delphine and Leah staying next door?"
"Yes, in the afternoon, they went to soak in the hot springs and had essential oil massages, haven’t had dinner yet." Richard Shaw had a clear grasp of both their whereabouts.
"Griffith Squire?" Ignatius Leclair continued asking.
"Hotel next door, 100 meters from here." Richard Shaw replied expressionlessly.
"What’s to fear, it’s not like I haven’t fought him before. This guy indulges in bed rolling daily, must be kidney deficient. Then, one punch per person." Ignatius Leclair coldly laughed, envisioning Griffith Squire’s beaten swollen face in his mind.
Richard Shaw’s mouth twitched slightly, is he here to pursue his wife or to fight, eh?
"Your previous plan won’t work, better kneel and propose directly." Richard Shaw said coolly.
"Here? Are you serious? I see your soldiers everywhere." Ignatius Leclair raised an eyebrow.
"Northeast Military Region folks, not raised by me." Richard Shaw thought proposing here was good, at least fewer people knew him.
Ignatius Leclair squinted his phoenix eyes, signaling silence, then pondered, proposing in the snow? Seems nice, Delphine always liked snow. Then, having bouquets airlifted from Holland to create a sea of flowers in the snow, with him kneeling with a ring to propose; once on social media, who would still scold him? Rumors of the breakup would be automatically disproven.
"Cough, cough, I think we should seriously consider this, since you just stirred a scandal in the Imperial City. Are you sure Squire Leah won’t slap you when you appear?" Ignatius Leclair smiled; the road to pursuing a wife is long and requires skill. Old Ignatius wouldn’t have thought of proposing in the snow.
Good buddy! He took the creative idea immediately.
Young Mr. Ignatius thought he was embarking on a path of flamboyant proposals, a way to show love.
Richard Shaw’s face darkened. Wasn’t this lousy idea suggested by old Ignatius?
Now the Land Family’s second young lady is still in the dark, although he and that girl spoke only a few words in total. Can Leah trust it?
"You keep thinking it over, I’ll go rest, freezing me to death." Ignatius Leclair elegantly got up and returned to his suite, then quickly ordered Maximilian to airlift a plane full of fresh flowers from Holland, and had his think tank come up with a beautiful snow proposal plan overnight.
Major General Shaw was in his room with a grim face, hesitating whether to knock on the door, even if beaten by Leah, his thick skin wouldn’t matter; but with Leah and Delphine in one room, it was somewhat inconvenient.
Richard Shaw didn’t sleep all night, nearly becoming a statue longing for his wife, completely unaware that history’s most unreliable teammate was about to appear.
