Chapter 1306: Chapter 1303: A Man’s Deadly Allure—Especially Wicked

Griffith Squire’s injuries had been healing for about a week, and by now he was almost fully recovered. The remaining process would just require long-term rest.

The man searched all the way here, asking several young nurses along the way, only to vaguely know that Aurora Coldwell had gone down to the small garden.

"This is the most handsome patient I’ve seen this year. I really want his phone number," a few young nurses he stopped to ask for directions gathered together, their eyes glowing as they suppressed the screams stuck in their throats.

"Don’t get starry-eyed. I saw him coming down from the fifth floor, and the special care wards up there aren’t just something anyone can afford to stay in."

"Wow, that makes it even more necessary to pursue him. You wouldn’t believe the kind of losers I’ve been dating lately. This guy, handsome with a touch of wickedness, about 190 cm tall, and with a deep voice to boot—my gosh, he’s simply a dream guy."

The two young nurses dragged her away, calling, "Come on, let’s do the rounds."

The conversation of the young nurses faintly reached Griffith Squire’s ears, and his eyes lit up. Were they talking about him? It seemed he really was that outstanding.

Griffith found Aurora Coldwell on a bench in the small garden. The young girl was wearing a wide, fluffy knit sweater, with white rabbit fur on the hat, looking very cute as she sat there in a daze.

What was this behavior? No annoyance? No crying? Just came down to be in a daze? Griffith inexplicably breathed a sigh of relief.

Aurora, having run all the way down, was less flushed in the face after the chilly wind had blown on her. She stared dejectedly at the unknown wildflowers in the flowerbed at her feet. How could he pinch her cheek? And her wrist? It felt so natural as if they were boyfriend and girlfriend.

She was afraid Griffith would notice her blushing, which was why she couldn’t help but flee.

The man was a fatal temptation all over, downright bad to the core, highly enticing, yet he didn’t even realize it. Aurora thought of how Brooke Coldwell had been infatuated with Griffith before. If she hadn’t gotten her wrist pinched and got scared off, she’d probably still be chasing him every day.

"What are you daydreaming about? Come on, I’ll take you for a stroll around the Imperial City." Griffith flicked her forehead with a finger and smiled, "You’ve been here a week and I haven’t taken you out for fun yet."

Aurora was startled by him. Just as she came back to her senses, Griffith grasped her wrist and briskly led her outside.

She hurriedly ran small steps to keep up with his pace, the words of refusal stuck in her throat, unable to speak.

"Boss, the other day the Shaw family’s old lady recommended a classic teahouse to me. The performance, the snacks, the tea, all top-notch." Cornelius Turner hurried over to act as driver, eagerly recommending it.

Griffith squinted his eyes, giving him a cold glance. He’d only stayed in the Imperial City for about twenty days, and his spirit was almost bought out by the Shaw family. Look at this lack of resolve.

Each of them had no backbone.

Griffith let out a snort. Anyway, he was determined not to let Richard Shaw off the hook for this marriage without making him suffer. He knew Leah’s character well; although she usually fought fiercely with him, she’d still listen to him in critical moments.

Don’t be fooled by Richard Shaw’s current appearance, looking all affectionate like a loyal dog; he was such a jerk in the past. If he’s so capable, then keep it up, be cool till the end, why chase after a wife!!

Cornelius saw a stern look on his handsome face and almost bit his tongue off. Oh dear, the boss now seemed increasingly annoyed with the Shaw family. He better not cross him right now.

"Just drive wherever, find a place to stroll. Preferably somewhere with a nice view, not too crowded." Griffith got in the car and said.

"Yeah, a teahouse is too noisy, let’s find a quiet place, good for romance. Boss, I’ll immediately find ten scenic spots for you." Cornelius slapped his thigh, grinning as he spoke.

A place good for romance?

Aurora was somewhat confused, wondering if she misheard.

Griffith wished he could sew the kid’s mouth shut; how had he come to the Imperial City and started talking so much?

The man fiercely glared at Cornelius, his earlobes slightly red. He should’ve driven himself.

Cornelius, an excited outsider, drove towards the most popular park and couple’s paradise, only to be stunned at the sight of the crowds. Is even dating so competitive these days?

Finally, Cornelius was out of options and gave Leah a call under Griffith’s vicious gaze.

Leah, who had lived in the Imperial City for quite some years, almost hurt with laughter upon hearing this, saying, "Brother Turner, you truly are my brother’s right-hand man."

She could just imagine Aurora’s awkward state. It must be hard on the young girl, dealing with these two bachelors.

"I know of a nice private teahouse, with beautiful scenery, very spacious, barely any people, and extremely private. I’ll send you the address." Leah recommended a teahouse that only entertained the noble descendents of the Imperial City, which was actually Constantine Stewart’s enterprise.

Mr. Stewart’s businesses indeed spanned various industries. It’s peculiar, his investment areas differed from the ordinary businessman. Ignatius Leclair invested in future-booming fields like tech and new energy, while conservative businessmen were all about real estate, but Constantine only invested in what piqued his interest. Like teahouses, auction houses, antiques, the film industry, and the like.

Lana Shaw and Calliope Shaw concluded from their studies that Constantine was so wealthy that he came back home just to throw money around.

Leah had never been to Constantine Stewart’s private teahouse but heard it was non-profit and the reception depended entirely on appearance.

Cornelius was grateful and teary-eyed as he hung up the call and re-navigated.

"Your brother took Aurora out for fun, shouldn’t we also take a stroll?" Richard Shaw, seeing her laugh happily, said with a smile in his eyes, "A few days ago I went back to the cabin, and it’s still in good shape."

Richard had moved back to the Shaw Mansion these past two years, served at the Military District, and then resigned, never getting a chance to stay at the cabin, and yet the situation there had actually maintained.

The small courtyard that Sook had previously rented became a temporary stop, with many people from the Southwest Military Zone coming over on business trips, retired soldiers, soldiers on leave, who would come live for a day or two, then check out Richard’s old cabin, help plant some vegetables, do some weeding, tidy up a bit.

Everyone took turns farming the land, and the harvested fruits and vegetables were given to the local citizens to eat. Over the last two years, it had become quite an interesting activity.

According to Sook, the cabin had become a sort of spiritual sustenance for soldiers from the Southwest and Central Military Regions. Whenever their military careers became uncertain, or they faced life challenges, they’d take time to visit the suburban outskirts and see the cabin.

Coming from a powerful military family, reaching the rank of Major General, then abandoning everything to live alone in poverty, reinstated, then exposed a major case since the founding of the country, only to be deprived of power again. Such a rollercoaster life, such a mindset and courage, gradually made Richard Shaw a legendary figure in the Military District, with undiminished respect.
