Chapter 1305: Chapter 1302: Others Are Sweet, He’s Miserable

Aurora Coldwell entered the hospital room, only to see Griffith Squire turn around and slam the door shut.

The man was tall, his usually smiling handsome face drew near, pinning her directly against the door. His almond-shaped eyes flashed a momentary dark light, and his voice was deliberately lowered, deep and sexy, "You’ve been acting strange lately."

A statement.

The feeling that his little rabbit no longer wanted to be close was like being dumped by a girlfriend—or rather, like a daughter running away from home not wanting anything to do with her father.

Griffith Squire had pondered for several days, thinking it through, and it seemed to start changing from the second day she came.

Nothing significant happened on the first day, aside from him dealing with the Coldwell Family.

"You don’t want me to go against the Coldwell Family?" Griffith Squire squinted and asked.

Aurora Coldwell had seen the man’s wild and wicked side often, but seeing him look at her so deeply, exuding an intense masculine pheromone, made her heart race uncontrollably, her body stiffly pressed against the door.

She bit her pale pink lips lightly and said softly, "No."

"Then why have you been avoiding me every day lately?" Griffith Squire saw her eyes wandering, clearly troubled inside, and his stubborn nature erupted, determined to get to the bottom of it.

Was she sick? Did she hate him? Did she fall in love? Each thought that crossed Griffith Squire’s mind made his handsome face scowl a little more.

Aurora Coldwell lowered her eyes, her fingertips nervously clenched in her palm. She didn’t even know when her reliance on Griffith Squire had turned into admiration.

She was very guarded against people, especially men. Normally, if someone touched her, she would feel a sense of resistance, but Griffith Squire was different—tall, handsome, exuding a strong sense of security. He seemed like a rough man, but had a soft heart, much like a protective old hen.

Just because she accidentally brought him home, he had done so much for her.

She originally planned to muster the courage to confess around the New Year. But upon discovering Griffith Squire liked girls like Delphine Carter, she hesitated. If she confessed, would Griffith then agree just to repay her for saving him?

If he found someone he truly loved later, what would happen? Would they divorce and become strangers? The mere thought of this possibility kept her awake at night. After days of thinking, she decided to stay friends—friendship lasts longer than love, unless he truly liked her.

But is that even possible?

"Hmm?" Griffith Squire was impatient. Seeing her daydreaming after he asked for so long, noticing her little face even thinner than before, her skin pale to the point of transparency, leaving only two big black eyes, he panicked at once, squeezed her little face with his hand, and said in a slightly angry tone, "Why do you eat every day and not gain weight? Your face is withering away."

Aurora Coldwell shivered all over when his rough fingers pinched her cheek, and seeing him about to pinch her arm, her big eyes instantly watered up, she pushed him away and rushed out the door.

A bewildered Griffith Squire, with his raised hand still frozen in midair, saw Richard Shaw and Leah Squire sitting side by side on a bench in the corridor outside, talking quietly. Whatever the man said made Leah’s eyes sparkle like stars, her smile beaming brilliantly.

Griffith Squire was hit by a ten thousand point critical strike. Others were sweet and lovey-dovey, he was miserable and pitiful.

"Leah, I want to ask you something," Griffith Squire said through gritted teeth.

"What’s up?" Leah Squire got up with a carefree demeanor, lightly ran over, and asked with her almond-shaped eyes slightly raised.

"Did you say something bad about me to Aurora Coldwell, hmm? Like murderous and brutal methods?" Griffith Squire squinted his eyes.

The smile on Leah Squire’s face froze, and her pretty almond-shaped eyes drifted to the background. The man approached her, standing silently by her side, calmly indicating she could speak freely, for he was there.

"No, I just said you used to have a crush on little Delphine," Leah Squire blinked her big clear eyes and smiled flatteringly, "You said you like her, so why not confess? Kept her by your side for two years, probably haven’t even kissed, right? I’m helping you."

The head bandit, buried by his own sister, instantly felt a herd of wild beasts running in his heart.

"Leah Squire!!!" Griffith Squire’s handsome face turned ashen. As a man in his thirties, never having been in a relationship, never kissed—it’s indeed quite embarrassing. Leah did it on purpose, didn’t she? Had he not delayed for the sake of raising his sister?

"I just wish for our Cox Family to have descendants," Leah said with her innocent big eyes, "Oh right, I just saw Aurora running out. She’s unfamiliar with everything here, aren’t you going to look for her?"

Griffith Squire’s body stiffened, feeling Aurora Coldwell was more important. He’d settle the score with Leah later, especially with Richard Shaw around, hand in hand with Leah—he hadn’t even acknowledged Richard’s status yet, okay?

He couldn’t agree, just couldn’t, his sister wasn’t married yet either.

Leah saw him rushing off urgently, widened her eyes, and said to Richard Shaw in surprise, "My brother didn’t even yell at me, huh."

"Actually, he yelled your name," Richard Shaw’s tea-colored eyes were full of smiles as he said, "I guess men in love have lower IQ."

"So is your IQ high or low now?" Leah Squire asked with a cheerful grin.

Having been tricked by his wife, Major General Richard Shaw rubbed his forehead helplessly, "My IQ couldn’t get any lower."

So obedient! Leah extended her hand to embrace his arm, gently holding his hand.

The man’s warm large hand grasped hers back, asking softly, "Actually, your brother sacrificed a lot for you." For instance, not solving his personal problems yet.

With Griffith Squire’s looks and conditions, many women were chasing after him, not to mention he had both power and methods. For Leah and the Cox Family’s case, he had given up a lot.

"I know. He is a good brother, so I hope he can find his happiness," Leah said softly, "After Delphine got together with Ignatius Leclair, I was actually quite worried about him, but luckily, he found a little white rabbit."

Griffith Squire is a super protective guy. Whoever becomes his woman will be spoiled beyond measure.

Leah thought of Aurora Coldwell, how she was so unlucky for the first twenty-odd years of her life. Most likely, all her good luck was used to meet Griffith Squire. With him, her life seemed to have leveled up.

Richard Shaw nodded. That little girl from Coldwell Family seemed to have a good character too. Growing up in such an environment, yet remaining untainted, was indeed rare.

Fortunately, Griffith had someone else to love. Ignatius Leclair had a very vengeful character, and if they had really turned against each other because of Delphine Carter, it would have been a headache for him, unsure of whom to side with. One side a brother, the other a wife, thankfully that decision didn’t have to be made.
