Chapter 979: Chapter 1006: Honesty and Courage (10)
Because of the lawsuit, Koa Jackson has met many classmates of Mia Ginger, many of whom are beautiful and stunning. However, none of them can compare to even one-thousandth of the girl before him.
Initially, it was just due to the lawsuit that they interacted frequently.
But the more he got to know her, the more he discovered her adorable and precious qualities.
He is a lawyer, and has encountered countless situations in his career, always calculating for benefits and weighing gains and losses. If Mia’s parents hadn’t directly approached their law firm with a high price, he wouldn’t have taken on such an initially unlikely-to-win case.
Especially since they ended up losing.
But—
The world works in mysterious ways.
He met such a kind and innocent girl. If he had initially pursued her partly because of her father’s wealth, after two years, all such thoughts had vanished, leaving only the desire to marry her.
His family is almost entirely aware of this and wholeheartedly agrees.
Especially his superstitious grandmother, who insists that she consulted a master who said the girl he’s pursuing will bring prosperity to whoever marries her, that she is a blessing, but that the pursuit won’t be easy as it should be gradual and not rushed.
"Camden River, where are you staying tonight?" A voice suddenly interrupted his thoughts.
Daniel Davis looked over instinctively, and the smile on his lips faded slightly.
Ever since he started pursuing Mia, Mina Lee had been actively helping him, becoming more enthusiastic over time.
He certainly knows this name.
Mina Lee said many things, but the most memorable was something Mia had told her, "In my eyes, he is the most radiant person in this world. A little sunshine from him can keep me happy for a long time, but I can’t get too close to him. Getting close is like the legendary pursuit of the sun, I fear I might eventually exhaust myself on the way."
Mia isn’t a talkative person and is shy and reserved in interactions, especially with men, always maintaining a polite distance.
He never imagined she could say something so emotional.
No wonder they say, people in love become poets.
Two years ago, he hadn’t known Camden River. Now, seeing him for the first time, he couldn’t deny that he was one of those outstanding individuals among their peers.
Mia has good taste.
Daniel Davis nonchalantly withdrew his gaze and went downstairs with everyone.
Mia Ginger arrived at the cashier, and after a couple of questions, the cashier informed her, "A gentleman wearing glasses already paid the bill earlier."
Daniel Davis?
Mia quickly thought of him and let it go, stepping out with her classmates who followed.
Mia and Daniel Davis had already left.
The sober classmates also departed.
Those who were drunk leaned on each other, waiting for family or friends to pick them up.
Mia scanned the area and saw Windsor Myres and Camden River talking on the side, realizing it was getting late, and with Koa having already called twice during dinner, decided to say goodbye first.
Roy Anders approached her, saying, "Take care on the way."
"Why haven’t you left yet?" Mia looked at him, puzzled.
"Camden River asked me to wait for him. He said he’d stay over at my place tonight."
"Your place?" Mia was taken aback.
"Yes, he mentioned it upstairs, but I feel it might just be an excuse, maybe he doesn’t want to leave with Windsor Myres, and said he’s flying home tomorrow morning, not sure exactly what’s on his mind."
"Oh." Mia nodded.
There, Camden River and Windsor Myres finished their conversation, and Camden River stepped over, handed her something, and left with Roy Anders.
Mia went to get the car with Windsor Myres.
After a few steps, Windsor Myres casually asked, "How much did it cost?"
"What?" Mia was momentarily confused.
"The dinner, weren’t you hosting?" Windsor Myres smiled casually, speaking lightly, "Next time don’t be so generous, it’s not necessary. In the box earlier, Mina was the most active, loving gatherings as she does, she should host next time."
"Oh." Mia felt slightly embarrassed, "I didn’t pay, Lawyer Davis probably settled the bill before coming upstairs."
"Him?" Windsor Myres chuckled thoughtfully, "Not bad conditions."
"He is an elite." Mia shrugged and laughed, looked at her, and asked, "How are things with Camden River? From the look of him, he should still have feelings for you."
"Hmm." Windsor Myres nodded with a smile, "He said he’s heading home tomorrow, coming back to Cloud Capital in a few days. He also said he still has feelings for me and plans to have a proper talk after his internship is confirmed."
"That’s good." Mia sighed in relief, "Two years isn’t too long or too short. You both have had it rough, so cherish it together. It seems like he’s aiming for marriage now, so don’t be as difficult as before; in the end, no one wins."
"Got it, got it, are all married people like you, nagging?" Windsor Myres playfully pushed her, waved, and said, "My car is over there, so I’ll leave it at that. Drive safely."
"I know, you too." Mia waved back, watched her leave, and opened the car with her key.
