Chapter 978: Chapter 1005: Honesty and Courage (9)
The heart that raced towards work next chose stability, Windsor Myres was his first choice.
A Windsor Myres who knew how to restrain her sharp edges and was able to yield, very good.
Camden River casually thought about it, picked up the teacup on the table, took a sip, his expression mild and unperturbed.
Amidst the crowd’s commotion, Mia Ginger glanced at him, shifted her gaze, and saw Windsor Myres with a smile tugging at her lips.
There was a bit of glaring pride, certain of victory.
Indeed.
Camden River would actively refuse her one kiss, yet couldn’t refuse a more intimate kiss from her.
That explained the matter.
Earlier, he spoke to defend her, which made her very happy, yet this happiness quickly fell to a low point due to their simple interaction.
He probably still loves Windsor Myres, what should she do?
Thinking about Windsor Myres’s few words outside earlier, Mia Ginger couldn’t help but curl her fingers and touched a glass of wine at her side.
Mina Lee quickly steadied it, whispered, "Daniel Davis is more suitable for you, Camden River is the kind of guy you should just forget; he has too many admirers, totally not suitable for you."
"You’re right." Mia Ginger laughed and nodded.
With those words, she lifted her glass and took two sips, suppressing the surging emotions.
Daniel Davis was wrong; it wasn’t that she hadn’t drunk wine, she was just someone who never drank outside, especially in front of men.
Her father liked to drink; he liked baijiu, beer, and red wine—all of them. She could drink a little of each, almost half a jin of baijiu, but she only drank at home, to make her dad happy, for only home was a place where she could drink freely without worrying about consequences, even if she got drunk, she would simply sleep it off, plus dad’s comforting embrace and mom’s gentle whispers.
At moments like this, she suddenly missed them so much.
Mia Ginger took two small sips and said to Mina Lee, "I’ll just eat, not play anymore, you guys go ahead."
Mina Lee continued to call on others to play a while.
——
It was now half-past nine.
The gathering was nearing its end.
In the booth, half the people were drunk, calling various people to come pick them up.
Mia Ginger looked at her phone to check the time, amidst her unsettled spirit, Daniel Davis’s call came again, as soon as she answered he warmly asked, "Vermilion Club, which floor are you on, which room?"
"Third floor," Mia Ginger thought for a moment, "302, Elegant Charm Pavilion, take the elevator, turn left, and walk straight inside; the room is right opposite a small corridor."
"All right, I’m coming up." Daniel Davis hung up right after speaking.
Mia Ginger: "..."
Pressed her lips slightly thinking for a moment, she didn’t call back and put her phone away.
Daniel Davis arrived a short while later.
Mia Ginger immediately noticed.
Daniel Davis didn’t look as tall as Young Master Jackson, but he was close to 1.8 meters. It was summer, and he wore a finely-made silver-gray shirt, his short hair was neat and shiny black, he wasn’t wearing a tie, paired with perfectly straight trousers, polished shoes, portraying a professional elite.
His features were regular and handsome, not striking among men, yet pleasing to look at, a pair of frameless glasses on his nose made him look more refined, his eyes deep.
Mia Ginger had seen him two years ago, smiled to greet him.
Daniel Davis glanced around the room, gave a brief nod to the remaining sober people in the booth, stepped before Mia Ginger, and softly asked, "Didn’t drink too much, did you?"
"No." Mia Ginger stood up, her cheeks a bit red, but her eyes were clear, "Actually just had two sips."
"Even two sips is too much." Daniel Davis looked at her and smiled.
