Chapter 962: Chapter 989: Going Separate Ways (7)
As the most influential news portal in the country, Sunshining Network has been on the rise in recent years, so she doesn’t have to worry about her future.
——
Mia Ginger didn’t take her car; she stood at the intersection waiting to cross the street.
Unbeknownst to her, she had inadvertently caught the attention of her future boss.
At this moment, she was in a pretty good mood.
She had a scare in the elevator earlier, and it really frightened her to death for a moment, fearing she would die young right in that elevator. Now that she was out, it felt like being reborn.
She looked at the tall and varied buildings across the street and felt joy; watching the hurried passersby, she also felt joy.
The happiest thing in the world is being alive.
Being alive is the hope for everything.
After crossing the street, she smiled and walked lightly into a shopping mall by the roadside.
The average temperature in Y Country is much lower than at home, and she needed to add some light summer clothing. She glanced at the mall directory in the first-floor lobby and went straight to the fourth-floor women’s section by escalator.
Since she had a purpose, shopping for clothes was naturally quick.
In less than an hour, she picked out two casual long dresses, a short-sleeved shirt, two thin blouses, and two pairs of trousers. Feeling satisfied, she headed back down the escalator, then saw some shoes.
Mia Ginger stopped on the first floor to choose a pair of sneakers.
Aurora Cooper had been training her to wear high heels two years ago, and every time she brought back shoes for her, they were mostly high heels, at the very least wedges.
She had a hard time accepting it.
Even though her current life was vastly different from before, things that were ingrained in her bones were hard to change. She liked the grounded feeling, flat shoes made her feel safe and secure, while high heels made her uncomfortable.
Besides, the industry she was aiming for wasn’t suitable for high heels.
She preferred comfort over elegance.
The sales assistant packed the shoes for her, and Mia Ginger took the opportunity to rearrange her bags. Summer clothes are thin, so each piece was quite small. She combined the four bags into two, tossed the empty bags away, and felt much tidier.
"Are you Wine?" said a girl trying on shoes nearby, suddenly asking.
Mia Ginger was taken aback, then smiled and said, "Yes."
"I really like you," the girl beamed with joy once her guess was confirmed, speaking quickly, "You are so pretty in person, even prettier than in the photos online. I saw you with long hair and almost didn’t recognize you. I love ’White Horse Town,’ and actually, I love everything else you’ve done too. Can I get your autograph?"
"Huh?" Mia Ginger was amused by her, "No problem, we can take a photo too."
"Really?"
"Truer than a pearl."
"Awesome!" The girl sat beside her with the shoes she’d been trying on halfway through, took out her phone, and snapped a selfie of the two of them. She had a round face which appeared larger next to Mia Ginger, and she looked a little downcast.
Mia Ginger glanced at her and laughed, "I think my hair isn’t done right, let’s redo it."
The girl smiled, and Mia Ginger took the phone, turned slightly, and took another picture of the two of them.
She leaned forward, the girl turned her face with a shy smile, the picture was very harmonious. Satisfied, Mia Ginger handed the phone back and signed her name before leaving.
Unexpectedly, the girl excitedly posted on Twitter, "OMG, I ran into Wine at the mall while buying shoes today, so happy! She has long hair, so excited, but she’s definitely prettier in person than in photos, love love, not only is she pretty but also so nice, considerate of my angle in our photo, my round face instantly became beautiful, love her so much, whoo whoo whoo!"
This girl was a celebrity chaser with quite a few Twitter followers, so once she posted, many friends noticed it.
Mina Lee quickly saw the photo of Mia Ginger.
As a result——
Mia Ginger had just left the mall a few minutes before she received a call from her.
A bit surprised, Mia Ginger greeted her with a smile.
Mina Lee laughed on the phone and asked, "I heard from Roy Anders that you’re not coming back for a few days, so how come you’re back early? And you didn’t mention it in the class group, we could’ve given you a welcome back dinner."
"Aren’t you all doing internships?" Mia Ginger said with a laugh.
"Even if I’m pregnant, I have to give you a welcome back dinner," Mina Lee chuckled, "How’s your uncle lately? Send me some photos of him eating and sleeping; internships are tough, you have no idea."
"Pfft, ulterior motives!"
Mia Ginger occasionally kept in touch with some of her classmates and knew that Mina Lee had found an internship as an entertainment reporter right after the summer break, and Windsor Myres was slightly better with an internship at the children’s channel.
Among the six people in their dorm, it seemed that Windsor Myres was the only one not entering this field.
The two kept in touch, and Mia Ginger knew she was preparing to work on her family’s business with her mother after graduation.
Thinking of her, Mia Ginger zoned out for a moment.
Mina Lee, on the other end, said, "So, it’s settled then. We’ll meet up at the Vermilion Club tonight to give you that welcome back dinner. There are quite a few from our class interning in the Cloud Capital; I’ll call everyone to come and have a good time together."
"Vermilion Club?" Mia Ginger laughed in surprise, "You’re hosting?"
"Come on," Mina Lee said, jokingly annoyed, "I’m just there for free food and drinks. Let Windsor Myres host; her dad is loaded. When he found out she was staying in Cloud Capital, he bought her a small villa in the Cloudy Capital as a dowry. It’s unbelievable. Why don’t I have a dad as loaded!"
"Cloudy Capital?" Mia Ginger blurted out.
"Yes, it’s a top-level villa district, understated yet luxurious. I heard it took considerable effort to get."
Mia Ginger couldn’t help but laugh, replying, "Alright then, Friday night, everyone should be free, so Vermilion Club it is. I’ll be the host."
"We were waiting for you to say that, and don’t forget your uncle’s photos."
Mia Ginger: "..."
