Chapter 79: I am yours and no one else’s

"My marriage to Catalina was a sham," Julian said quietly. "It was just a one-year contract to please my father. At that time, I couldn’t remember you because of the accident."

Lyvana felt her heart skip a beat. The anger in her chest started to melt into confusion.

"So... you really had an accident? You truly lost your memories?" she asked.

Julian nodded. "Yes, I did."

then he stepped even closer, placing one hand against the wall right beside her head, effectively locking her in place.

The move made her breath hitch in her throat. She was trapped between the cold wall and the heat of his body.

He leaned in until his face was only inches from hers. She could smell his expensive cologne and the faint scent of the drink he’d had earlier.

"Lyvana, I am yours and no one else’s. My heart has belonged to you since the very first day we met. I should’ve fought harder too remember... but baby am here now. And I’m not going anywhere."

"Julian," she began, "You can’t just say these things now and everything will go back to the way it was. The fact remains that you are still married."

He leaned closer to her, his lips were almost touching hers, "the papers are already drawn up, since the moment my memory started to return. Also, I have nothing to do with Catalina. We have never shared a bed let alone slept together."

"But you just got married, how do you get a divorce?"

"I have my ways.

He was so close she couldn’t breathe.

"You are so fucking beautiful," he whispered, stroking her cheek and gazing down at her in a way that made her core melt.

At this point she couldn’t really hear anything he was saying. All she wanted was to ask him to kiss her.

"I... "

He crushed his lips on hers to silence her. Her words disappeared the moment his lips touched hers.

Lyvana froze for a second. freёwebnoѵel.com

Then her fingers curled into his shirt. Her heart was racing and her thoughts were a mess. She knew she should push him away. She knew this wasn’t right — not like this.

But he was here.

Julian’s hand moved to her waist, pulling her closer.

When he finally pulled back, his forehead rested gently against hers. His breathing was uneven.

"Don’t push me away," he said softly. "Not when I just found you again."

Lyvana closed her eyes, her chest rising and falling.

He lifted her effortlessly, her legs wrapping around his waist as he carried her to the bedroom, then laid her down gently on the bed, his body hovering over hers.

"Julian," she breathed. "We really shouldn’t..."

"Do you trust me," he asked her.

Lyvana looked up into his dark, steady eyes.

"I want to," she whispered, her voice trembling. "But I’m scared, Julian. I’m scared that I’ll wake up and you’ll be gone, again. I will not be able to handle it again."

He leaned down, his nose brushing against hers. "Never. I’ll spend every day for the rest of my life making sure you know you’re the only one. My memory might have failed me once, but my heart never stopped loving you."

He kissed her again, but this time it was slow and tender.

Lyvana felt the tension leave her body as she pulled him closer, her hands sliding up to cradle his face.

Then he moved closer and pulled her into his arms. They lay together quietly under the sheets cuddling.

Lyvana felt his warmth all around her. Then, she felt his hand move to her tummy. It was such a sweet, gentle move that it made her want to cry with joy.

He leaned in and kissed her cheek softly. He stayed there for a moment, enjoying the feeling of her soft skin.

"I can’t believe we are having a baby," he whispered. "A part of you and a part of me."

Lyvana smiled.

"I think we need to do something about my temporary boyfriend status," he added.

Lyvana chuckled. "I like you more as a temporary boyfriend. We keep the status and I will review your application for permanent position later."

This made Julian laugh.

"Review my application?" he repeated, amused. "After everything I’ve done, I’m still on probation? What else does a man have to do to get a promotion around here?"

Lyvana lifted a brow, trying to look serious, though the smile on her lips gave her away.

"Well," she said slowly, tapping her chin like she was thinking very hard, "the candidate must be patient, loyal... and able to follow instructions."

Julian leaned closer, his eyes narrowing with playful suspicion. "That sounds like a long process."

"It is," she replied calmly. "Very strict."

He smiled, brushing a strand of hair from her face.

"Of course," she said. "Standards are very high... oh and maybe a few more of those kisses."

Julian didn’t waste a second. He leaned down and captured her lips in a slow, sweet kiss. When he pulled away, he rested his forehead against hers.

"Consider it done," he said. "I’ll be the best temporary boyfriend you’ve ever had. But don’t take too long with that review, Lyvana. I’m ready to sign the permanent contract whenever you are."

They lay there for a long time, watching the shadows move on the ceiling. For the first time in weeks, Lyvana didn’t feel like she was fighting alone. She felt safe. But as she started to drift off to sleep, she remembered something.

"So, did you ever find out who tried to kidnap me?" she asked quietly.

"We are still on the investigations. We are close, all thanks to Lily, even when I couldn’t remember she and Marco kept working on it. Right now we need a much better proof. Then I will bring all the detailed findings to you soon."

"That means you have a suspect."

"Yes, although I want to be sure before mentioning anything right now."

"Alright."

With that she fell asleep in his arms.
