Chapter 78: The baby can only be yours
Julian sat in his penthouse and took a swipe of his drink.
It had been a week since the runway show.
Yes, he was angry. He had messed up. Although it wasn’t really his fault. He should have fought to remember sooner. And now she was pregnant for that fiance of hers.
Although he could only remember flashes. He knew now how much he truly loved her.
He remembered how her skin felt under his arms. Her beautiful porcelain, perfect and flawless skin. The thought of Mark, going anywhere near her made his skin crawl.
He slammed the drink on the table.
She was his, but with her carrying Mark’s child, everything had suddenly become complicated.
Just then Ethan entered, looked at him and grinned.
"Hey man, what’s eating you up?"
"Nothing," he said dryly.
"Well I have the most perfect day planned for Emily and I. I have booked out an entire mountain top restaurant and it’s going to be amazing... Am gonna need a favor though. Can I borrow the company helicopter?"
"Fine," I murmured.
"Fine? That’s all you’ve got? No tips, no suggestions?"
Julian got up and patted his back.
"You’ve got everything covered."
Then he smiled and walked to the window.
"Ok, why are you sulking?" Ethan asked coming to join him.
"I am not sulking."
"Tell that to someone who doesn’t know you."
Julian sighed.
"What’s the matter?" Ethan pressed.
"Lyvana is pregnant."
"Huh?"
"I found out today when Lily checked her hospital records. I knew something was wrong as she kept getting sick yet she refused to see a doctor. She even has her first appointment tomorrow."
"Wow... that’s heavy, man," Ethan said, his grin widening even more. He leaned against the window frame, looking at Julian’s tense profile.
"Emily never told me about that. So, what are you going to do about the baby?"
Julian didn’t look at him. He kept his eyes on the city below, his hands shoved deep into his pockets.
"I don’t even know if it’s mine, Ethan."
"It’s yours," Ethan said immediately with a frown. There wasn’t a hint of doubt in his voice.
Julian finally turned, his brow furrowed in genuine confusion. "How can you be so sure? She told me the baby wasn’t mine, but Mark’s."
"She hasn’t been with him," Ethan countered, shaking his head. "Don’t you remember? We even played a practical joke on him with an escort, just to get him off her back. I know because I helped her set it up."
"Wait... you aren’t listening. She told me the baby is Mark’s."
"Of course she did," Ethan said, shrugging as if it were the most obvious thing in the world. "She’s mad at you. What did you expect. Am pretty sure you asked her if the baby was yours?"
Julian’s heart skipped a beat, then began to thud against his ribs with a violent, newfound hope. He turned fully away from the window, his eyes searching Ethan’s face for any sign of a joke.
"She lied?" Julian whispered, "The baby’s mine?"
"Of course the baby’s yours. She hasn’t been with anyone but you."
He let out a short, triumphant laugh, his eyes bright for the first time in a weeks.
"She’s carrying my child," he said.
Julian pulled his phone from his pocket, his thumb moving with a speed that matched his racing heart.
Lily answered.
"Lily, I need you to find Lyvana for me. I need her current location, now."
"I am already sending you an address, sir," Lily replied instantly.
Julian paused, his eyebrows shooting up in surprise as his phone vibrated with an incoming notification. He pulled the device back to look at the screen. It was a small apartment complex on the quiet side of town — a place he hadn’t seen before.
"You already know where she is?" he asked.
"Yes, sir," Lily confirmed. "She acquired a small apartment recently. I have Marco tracking her every move. He reported that she moved there a week ago after the runway show."
Julian tucked the phone away and grabbed his keys. He was going to her, and he wasn’t leaving until she knew he was back — and he wasn’t going anywhere.
....
Lyvana sat on the bed going through the tabloid news. The Vogue magazine was opened on the bed. There were pages dedicated to her designs and even her interview. This was so amazing she couldn’t believe it.
But she couldn’t concentrate, her mind kept wandering back to Julian and how he saved her show.
Why did he still care? I mean he was married and she was nothing more than a fling .
"Stop it," she whispered to herself.
She couldn’t keep thinking about him like this. It would only hurt her more.
She heard a knock at the door. She stood up, thinking it was Emily.
She pulled the door open with a small smile, but the smile quickly vanished. It wasn’t Emily.
It was Julian.
Lyvana froze, her hand still gripping the doorknob.
She wanted to ask him to leave.
"Lyvana," he said. His voice was low and rough, and just hearing him say her name made her heart race.
She finally found her strength and tried to push the door shut. "You shouldn’t be here, Julian. Go back to your wife." frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓
But Julian was faster. He placed his hand firmly against the door, stopping it from closing. He didn’t push his way in, but he didn’t move an inch.
"I’m not going anywhere," he said firmly. "We need to talk."
"There is nothing to talk about," Lyvana snapped, though her voice trembled. "The show is over. You helped me, and I’m thankful, but that’s it. Go away."
"I know the baby is mine, Lyvana."
She felt a wave of dizziness wash over her.
Julian stepped forward, forcing her to take a step back into the room. He closed the door behind him.
"It doesn’t matter how I know," Julian said. He reached out as if to touch her, but stopped himself. "What matters is that I know the truth. I know that baby isn’t Mark’s. It’s mine."

"It doesn’t change anything," she said, looking up at him. "You have your life, and I have mine. I can do this alone."
"But you aren’t alone. I am the father, Liv. And I’m not letting you go through this alone."
He took another step toward her.
"I messed up," he admitted. "I forgot things I should have never forgotten. But I’m here now, and am not going anywhere."
