Chapter 122: What happened...
"The nerve," Lady Glowen said angrily. "To insult you and then show that disgusting video."
Lyvana let out another long, shaky sigh and buried her face deeper into her grandmother’s side. This had worked better than she imagined.
Suddenly, a large black van sped out from a side road. It swung around and blocked the street directly in front of them. Their driver slammed on the brakes, making the tires scream.
Before they could move, another car hit them hard from behind. They were trapped.
"What’s going on?" Lady Glowen cried out, holding onto the door.
Four men wearing black masks jumped out of the van.
Emily tried to reach for her phone, but the side windows exploded. Glass flew everywhere.
One man pulled the driver out of the car. Two others ripped open the back door.
Lyvana tried to crawl to the other side of the car, but a strong hand grabbed her arm. She was pulled out of the SUV and toward the van.
"Get away from her!" The driver shouted, trying to fight them off. They hit him and he fell unconscious.
"Leave her alone!" Lady Glowen screamed. She tried to hit the men with her bag, but one man pushed her back into her seat.
Lyvana tried to scream, but a man pressed a cloth over her mouth. The cloth smelled strongly of chemicals.
The world started to spin. Her eyes grew heavy. The last thing she saw was the bright afternoon sun before everything went black.
The men tossed her into the back of the van and slammed the doors shut. In seconds, the van sped away, leaving her family behind on the side of the road.
Damon and Isabel, who were driving in a separate car ahead, realized the others weren’t following them. They quickly turned around and rushed back, but by the time they reached the spot, it was already too late.
On the other side of town, Julian walked out of the bathroom of his main house. He noticed that Clara had already laid out his clothes for the day.
He picked up his phone. He was waiting for a file from Lily. Or perhaps he didn’t even give a damn about it. The thing was, he was in a good mood.
A beautiful smile covered his face. He was already making plans. He wanted to send a formal marriage proposal to Lyvana’s house tonight. He didn’t want to wait another minute.
His phone rang. It was his father, Chairman Grant.
"Have you found out who orchestrated the police raid, Julian?" the Chairman asked.
"Yes, Father," Julian replied. "It was a tech officer named John. He is the one who called for the raid. The funny thing is, he doesn’t even have the authority to do that."
"Mmm. Have him picked up for questioning," the Chairman ordered. "Let’s get to the bottom of this nonsense. As for Arthur Reed, I will be contacting the Italians. If they keep protecting that bastard, they will experience a ruthless takeover. My instincts tell me something very serious is going on."
Usually, Julian would be focused on the business, but today, all he could think about was the proposal. fɾēewebnσveℓ.com
"Now," the Chairman said, cutting through his thoughts. "You were telling me about the shipment."
Julian opened his mouth to answer, but another call came through. It was Emily. He ignored it, staying focused on his father.
A second later, a message banner popped up at the top of his screen.
EMILY: Lyvana has been kidnapped.
The air in the room seemed to freeze. Julian’s face went completely still, but his eyes turned dark and dangerous.
"Julian?" the Chairman asked, noticing his son’s sudden silence. "Are you there."
"I will have to call you back father."
He hung up immediately and dialed Emily’s number.
The phone only rang once before Emily picked up. Her voice was shaking, and Julian could hear the sound of sirens and Lady Glowen’s frantic sobbing in the background.
"Julian! They took her!" Emily cried.
"Calm down, tell me exactly what happened."
Emily narrated everything that happened.
As soon as he hung up he called Lily.
"Hello sir."
"Lily, Lyvana has been kidnapped. It happened a few minutes ago," Julian said, his voice as sharp as a blade. "I need you to inform the team. Have them track a black van heading east on Cape Road."
"Right away, sir! I’ll alert the security team and start the drone sweep. Should I contact the police?"
"Yes." Julian was already heading to his car. "But Lily, tell them her safety is the only thing that matters."
"Understood, sir. I’m on it."
Julian threw his phone onto the passenger seat and floored the accelerator. The engine of his car roared as he wove through traffic at a terrifying speed. His eyes were fixed on the road, but his mind was racing.
"Who did this?" he hissed through his teeth.
His first thought was Catalina. But this move was too bold, even for her.
His phone buzzed again. It was Ethan. He answered it on the car’s speaker.
"Julian, Emy just called me. Could it be Mark?"
"Mark is a coward," Julian hissed. "This is professional. The timing is too perfect. This person knew Lyvana had no bodyguard with her."
"That means someone has been watching her every move, waiting for her to be vulnerable."
"Well they just made the biggest mistake of their lives."
....
"What the hell!"
Lyvana tried to move her head, but it throbbed with pain. Everything was pitch black. It took her a moment to realize she wasn’t blind, but blindfolded. Then she remembered, the kidnapping.
She tried to move her hands, but they were tied tightly behind her back. Her wrists stung as the plastic zip-ties bit into her skin.
The van wasn’t moving anymore. It was quiet, except for the sound of muffled voices coming from outside the metal doors.
She held her breath, straining to hear. The men weren’t speaking English. The sounds were smooth and fast. It took her a second to recognize it. They were speaking French.
"Est-elle réveillée?" one man asked. freewёbnoνel.com
"Peu importe," another replied. "Le patron arrive."
Lyvana didn’t speak much French, but she understood one word perfectly: Patron. The boss.
