Chapter 107: Her father
Seraphina stood up, her legs still shaking, and walked slowly toward the woman on the floor.
She reached out and ran a finger down the woman’s cheek.
"What do I do with you tonight?"
The girl smiled.
"Anything you want," she said. "I’m yours to use."
Seraphina’s lips curved.
She grabbed her hair, yanking her head back.
"Good."
....
Lyvana left the office at midday with Emily. Marco took them straight to The Royale to see her new suite.
They used a key card and entered. The suite was breathtaking. It was huge, although not as huge as Julian’s penthouse. It had floor-to-ceiling windows that showed the entire city.
The floors were white marble, and the furniture was made of soft, cream-colored velvet.
"Omg," Emily whispered, spinning around. "Lyvana, this is amazing."
In the center of the living room was a massive table covered in fresh white roses. Next to them was a silver tray with chilled champagne and a note.
Lyvana picked up the card. It was from Julian.
For the woman who deserves the world. I will see you later tonight.
This made her smile.
Emily was already in the closet. All the clothes Julian had bought for Lyvana were in there.
"Let’s open that champagne," Lyvana said. "I want to enjoy this before we go see the event planner."
Emily popped her head out of the closet, eyes wide and sparkling.
"I still can’t believe am planning a wedding before graduation?" Emily said excitedly, stepping out of the closet with a pair of designer heels in her hand. "Is this real life? Am I actually marrying a man like Ethan?"
Lyvana laughed, her heart feeling light as she watched her best friend’s joy. "It is very real, Emy. And you deserve every bit of it."
Emily flopped onto the velvet sofa, kicking off her shoes with a grin.
"I like this life," she declared. "I could get used to this very quickly."
"I feel like a princess, and I haven’t even tried on the dress yet."
"I’ve already finished the final sketches for your gown. Once the accessories arrive at Aurora tomorrow, we can start the first fitting."
Emily hugged her tightly. "You’re the best maid of honor ever. I don’t know what I’d do without you."
Emily pulled back from the hug, her eyes landing on the massive, gold-embossed binder sitting on the marble counter. She picked it up.
"Is this... a dictionary?" Emily asked, flipping through the pages. "Wait, no. It’s a menu, for your personal use?"
"Really," Lyvana said, walking over to her. "He already sent over a hundred-page ’Security and Comfort’ manual for my stay here. Section four covers what to do if I have a craving for sushi at 3 AM. Apparently, he’s put a private chef on a twenty-four-hour retainer."
"You’re really saying that like it’s normal," Emily giggled.
Lyvana let out a small laugh, moving toward the table. She picked up the bottle.
"At this point, nothing about my life is normal," she said lightly.
She poured two glasses, the soft fizz of champagne filling the quiet space.
Emily walked over, still glancing around at the sheer luxury of the suite. ƒree𝑤ebnσvel.com
"This place... Lyvana, this is insane." She took the glass. "I hope it’s non alcoholic."
"Of course," Lyvana assured her, giving the bottle a gentle spin to show the label.
Emily took a sip. "Thank God. Because if I start crying over peonies later, I want it to be because they’re beautiful, not because I’m tipsy and hormonal."
"You’re always hormonal," Lyvana teased.
"Says the pregnant one."
"Touché," Lyvana laughed.
As they clipped their champagne glasses together, the crystal rang out like a soft bell in the luxurious suite.
"To happily ever afters," Lyvana said with a smile.
"I’ll drink to that," Emily replied, her voice filled with excitement.
....
Julian walked into Loulou restaurant and immediately went to a private booth. The man sitting there scrambled to his feet, nearly knocking over his glass of red wine.
"Mr. Blackwood."
Julian didn’t offer a handshake, he simply sat in the empty chair.
"Sit," Julian commanded.
The man sank back into the leather cushion, his hands trembling as he rested them on the white tablecloth.
"I... I wasn’t expecting a personal visit, sir. Is there a problem with the accounts?"
"Forget the accounts," Julian said. "I’m here because Seraphina is in town." freewёbnoνel.com
The man’s face went pale, and his eyes darted toward the exit as if he expected her to walk through the door that second.
"Seraphina?" he whispered. "I didn’t think she would show up again."
"Well, she did," Julian said. "And she’s already going near someone she shouldn’t. Which means you have exactly one day to tell your daughter to get out of town, or I’ll make sure your family is the first casualty of the war she’s trying to start."
The man looked like he was about to be sick. He knew Julian wasn’t just making a threat.
"My daughter..." he whispered, his voice cracking. "Julian, please. I haven’t seen her in three years. I thought she was in London. I thought she was staying away like we agreed."
"You thought wrong."
"I... I’ll call her," the man stammered, his eyes darting frantically. "I’ll tell her to leave. I’ll cut her off. I’ll make sure she’s on a plane by midnight."
"See that you do Mr Carter."
Julian got up and walked out of Loulou, as two bodyguards waited by his car.
Julian stood up looking down at the shaking man with cold eyes.
"Make sure you do, Mr. Carter," Julian said. "Because if I have to deal with her myself, I will destroy everything you own."
Julian turned and walked out without looking back. Two bodyguards stood next to his black car. Julian got into the back seat.
Inside the restaurant, Mr. Carter sat frozen for a moment.
His hands were shaking so hard he could barely hold his phone. He quickly dialed a number and pressed it to his ear, his eyes darting toward the door to make sure Julian was really gone.
"Catalina," he hissed into the phone. "Why didn’t you tell me your friend is back in town?"
"Seraphina is in town?" Catalina’s voice sounded shocked on the other end.
"Yes! Your husband was just here. He’s furious," Mr. Carter whispered. "Do you have any idea where she might be staying? I need to find her fast."
