Chapter 18: 18. Strange device

In a world full of magic and wonder like Ardhez, nothing is impossible. Not even curing nearsightedness.

To do so, one needs gold coins to obtain a single bottle of intermediate-level healing potion. Even a small bottle of low-level healing potion is already very expensive—about three small gold coins—and the price can sometimes rise to as high as one large gold coin if a crisis like a war arises.

As previously mentioned, the war against the enemy has just ended. Or rather, it is currently over. Because war could very well break out again.

Due to the previous war, the demand for healing potions is extremely high. Moreover, those capable of making them are very rare.

Crafting potions requires a potion mage—a talent acquired through natural aptitude. Not all mages can do it automatically.

Therefore, mages with the healing element, or those capable of crafting healing potions, are extremely rare.

According to Keith, currently in the Kingdom of Nagreize, there are only ten recorded mages with the healing element who can craft healing potions.

Because they are so rare, people hold them in high esteem, making them very wealthy and driving up market prices.

So, ordinary people won’t be able to get intermediate-level healing potions easily. Because even low-level healing potions cannot cure eye diseases like myopia or cataracts.

Kai could actually buy that intermediate-level healing potion at an affordable price—just one small silver coin.

But he hesitated to do so, afraid of disrupting the market price. He was also afraid his actions would have a major impact. At least, not now.

For now, he just gave Arga a pair of glasses.

The system could determine the appropriate prescription for the young man.

For the rest of the day, Kai simply taught them how to take care of themselves. Like bathing at least once a day, especially when the weather is as hot as it is right now.

The hot weather made them sweat easily, and sweat would make their bodies get dirty and smell unpleasant.

Kai also taught them to take care of themselves using the same face and body lotion as Peoni and Lily.

"I’m telling you all this because you’ll be welcoming customers. If you look disheveled and dull, especially if you smell bad, it will make the customers uncomfortable. Well, after learning how to take care of yourselves, I’ll teach you how to greet guests first," said Kai.

Then Kai asked Keith to demonstrate to them how to greet guests, especially if the guests are nobles.

It’s not impossible that the nobles will come and try to humiliate Kaileon later. Because most of them are on the Duchess’s side.

In fact, the reason the Duke’s public market was controlled by the wealthy was because the Duchess was the one managing everything.

You could say that all the nobles and wealthy people in the area were the Duchess’s minions.

Of course, Kai was very weak at the time, but he would make sure there were no openings for them to humiliate him.

In fact, Kai wanted them to come right away, so they could see firsthand that the person they considered insignificant wasn’t actually that insignificant.

But Kai had to be patient, because everything couldn’t be resolved overnight.

No problem.

Rose and Daisy followed Kaileon to the pavilion to receive more training. Because their duties as supermarket guards weren’t as simple as just keeping watch.

Kai didn’t know that the service at the shops around there was actually terrible. There was no employee training, so the staff just did the bare minimum. If something went wrong, everything was blamed on the employees, who were then scolded and fired. It was always like that.

No wonder—since the shop owners were powerful people, they wanted everything done instantly. They expected the employees to figure things out on their own and understand everything by themselves.

Daisy even cried when she still couldn’t do it as well as Keith had demonstrated.

"Young master, are you all right?" Peoni asked, while they were still on the horse-drawn carriage.

Kai turned to Peoni and gave a faint smile, "I’m fine, Peoni, why do you ask that?"

The girl shook her head, then said, "No, it’s just that your expression looks both serious and tired at the same time. Why don’t you look out the carriage window now, young master?"

At first, Kai was very confused by Peoni’s meaning, but then he simply followed her advice. He was stunned by the beautiful view of the evening sky.

"Nathan, stop the horse-drawn carriage now," Kai ordered.

Nathan stopped the carriage and looked on in confusion as Kai simply stepped out.

"You want to look at the evening sky, young master?" Keith asked.

Kai nodded enthusiastically, "Yes, I want to look at it a little longer."

Keith smiled, then he dismounted as well.

"Let’s take a break here for a moment, Peoni. Please spread out the mat from the carriage over there—the view from there is even more beautiful," said Keith.

"I’ll help," said Rose.

After the mat was spread out, Kai sat down. He bought a basket of fruit and invited the others to eat with him.

While eating the fruit, Kai photographed the beautiful view of the evening sky with the camera on one of his advanced smartphones. He had just bought that smartphone after acquiring Aery, since he could now use the internet.

Although the internet interface looked very different from what he knew on Earth. It seemed as though the internet there had been further developed. So there was an advanced Ardhez map, similar to Google Maps on Earth. All information about Ardhez was also available there.

Kai could also access general information from Earth’s internet, such as recipes, information about important matters, and more. The only thing unavailable was social media. freёwebnoѵel.com

It was limited, but still usable.

Kaiden loved taking photos of anything—simple things that could make him happy.

Back then, Kaiden’s gallery on Earth was full of random photos, and Kaiden really loved that.

That’s why he also wants to take lots of photos of this world too.

Unfortunately, only he can use that device. Others can only see them if Kai allows them to.

"Are you going to print that photo later, young master?" asked Keith.

Print them, huh?

"You’re right, I’ll print them. Come take a picture with me, Keith!"

"But— wait a minute, young master!"

"Wow, it turned out great, Keith! I’ll print it later, and you can have a copy too!"

Keith, taken aback, just blinked in confusion.

"Wait, am I okay?" Keith muttered, bewildered.

Kai, equally bewildered, just gave a puzzled glance before turning to take photos with the girls.

The girls’ reactions were just as bewildered as Keith’s, and that amused Kaileon quite a bit.

Kai also took photos with Nathan and his horse-drawn carriage.

They thought that the flat, box-like object was a strange magical device that only Kai could use. They thought Kai had those magical devices because he liked them, so much so that he had two of them. One large magical device, or tablet, and a small magical device, or smartphone.

Since it was an unfamiliar object to them, they were still skeptical of it.

"Look who’s here."

Kai, who was having fun with the others, turned around and saw a noble girl he didn’t recognize.
