Chapter 76: Sweet Owen

Editor: Henyee Translations

Anita thought that Owen’s gesture was so considerate that she really felt like she was being taken care of. She had dated and had a boyfriend, but it seemed like no one had ever cared. She felt like she needed care and concern too.

Owen placed his share in front of Anita, then brought hers to her.

Seeing that Anita was still silent, he said, "Anita, try it. I’ve already cut it. It’s really tender."

"Yes, thank you, Owen." Anita came back to her senses at Owen’s words and picked up the fork in front of her to taste it first.

"How is it? Isn’t it very tender?" Owen asked Anita eagerly.

"Yes, it’s really tender and flavorful. The taste and warmth are just right," Anita said with a smile as she looked at Owen.

"I’m glad you like it. Eat more." Owen finally started to sit down and taste the steak in front of him.

"Owen, let’s drink a little together," Anita suddenly said to Owen while picking up the red wine in front of her.

"Anita, stop drinking." Owen was really worried that Anita would get drunk again.

"It’s okay. I just want a little," Anita said with a smile while looking at Owen. She didn’t think there was anything wrong with her voice, but this sounded like whining to Owen.

He couldn’t resist such a voice, so he could only smile helplessly and say, "Okay, then you can only drink a little, not much."

After getting Owen’s permission, Anita quickly nodded and picked up the glass in front of her to take a sip.

Owen glanced at Anita, who had also picked up the glass in front of her and taken a sip. freeωebnovēl.c૦m

The two of them didn’t say anything else after that. When the meal was almost halfway through, Owen remembered what Anita had said last night when she was drunk.

So he couldn’t help but want to ask her, "Anita, do you remember what you said last night?" Owen asked Anita. Anita was a little stunned by Owen’s sudden question and thought that maybe she had done something embarrassing last night and forgotten about it. "What did I say?"

"Don’t be nervous. It’s nothing." Owen smiled and continued, "I just heard you say last night that you made a song that seemed to have been taken by Eric. Can I ask what it is?"

Anita didn’t expect she would say that after drinking last night.

To be honest, she didn’t really want to talk about it. It wasn’t a particularly glorious thing. And she was afraid Owen didn’t believe her.

After all, her status was too different from that singer’s. It was normal for everyone not to believe her.

"Nothing. Did I say something? I don’t remember." Anita didn’t dare to look into Owen’s eyes. She lowered her head and said softly.

"Anita, you made it very clear last night. I remember everything. Can you tell me?" Owen said sincerely while looking at Anita. frёeωebɳovel.com

Anita listened to Owen’s words and looked at his expression to be sure he really didn’t mean anything else. He was just really asking her out of concern.

So she thought about it and finally said, "You don’t know everything about my breakup with Eric, but there’s something else you don’t know."

"When Eric and I were still in love, he was a great musician, but a lot of the songs he composed since graduation haven’t been appreciated. In order to comfort him, I made a tune while I was at home. It was meant to be a gift to him and for him to listen to when he was unhappy."

"But I didn’t expect that after we broke up, I found out that this tune was actually sold to a famous singer and became his," Anita stammered.

She might not have said the name of the singer, including the incident between her and Eric, but Owen could discern the anguish Anita was feeling.

His heart suddenly ached. Why would such a good girl encounter such a thing?

"Anita, it’s all in the past. Don’t feel so bad anymore. I believe what is yours is yours after all. No one can take it away," Owen said as he reached out and touched Anita’s hair.

"Yes, I know. It’s all in the past," Anita said with a smile while looking at Owen.

"It’s best if you think so." Owen smiled and continued, "Anita, can I ask the name of the song?"

"Yes. When I first composed the song, I named it Glimmer. Later, it was changed to ’The Ordinary Road’," Anita said as she thought about it.

"It seems like this song is still very popular now. I didn’t expect my random song to become popular. Do you think I’m talented?" Anita said self-deprecatingly.
