Chapter 57: Going Home to Eat

Owen didn’t drive fast, so it took them about half an hour to get to the house.
Before they reached the door, they saw Sylvia waiting at the door from afar.
When Owen had just parked the car, she went up to him. "Didn’t you agree to come back for dinner? Why are you back so late?"
"Mom, it’s mainly because I had something on at school, so we came a little late. Don’t be offended," Anita said first after opening the car door and getting out.
Owen was stunned to hear what Anita had just said as soon as he got out of the car. Then he saw Anita reach out and pull him back.
"It’s good that you’re here. Hurry up and go in. The food is ready." When Silvia heard that Anita had something on, so she came late, she didn’t say anything and hurriedly welcomed them in.
Owen couldn’t help but think about how enthusiastic his mother was. No wonder Anita had just pulled him back from talking to her. It was because her daughter-in-law was much more important than her son.
Except Owen didn’t dare to say it. If he did, he might be beaten.
"Mom, I want to give you this bouquet. I didn’t know what flowers you liked, so I asked the florist for a recommendation and got you a bouquet of pink tulips and champagne roses. I hope you like it," Anita said with a smile as she handed the flowers to Sylvia.
"I like it. Of course I like it. Thank you, Anita." Sylvia took the bouquet and smiled as she said, "I’m going to put it in a vase in the living room later. It’s too beautiful."
"Really? I’ll buy it for you next time, Mommy." Anita didn’t expect Sylvia to like it since it was her first time buying flowers to give to her elders. She was very happy, and she quickly reached out to hold Sylvia’s hand as they walked home. freewёbnoνel.com
"Owen, what are you waiting for? Come here quickly." Sylvia and Anita were almost in the living room. When they turned around and saw that Owen was still standing there, Sylvia said.
"Yes, I’ll be right there," Owen said with a resigned smile.
After entering the living room, Sylvia pulled Anita to her side and sat down.
Then, she instructed Owen, "Go to the kitchen first and see if the food is ready."
Owen went to look. "Okay, they can serve the dishes at anytime."
Then Sylvia said, "Go upstairs and call your father down for dinner."
Poor Owen hadn’t even had a sip of water when he got home before he was ordered around by his mother. Then, Anita was pulled to the dining room table to sit there comfortably while eating the snacks Sylvia had already prepared.
Anita looked at Owen, who was busying, and wanted to share his burden. However, she had just stood up when Sylvia pulled her back. "Don’t move. Sit here and eat for a while. Let him do it." freewebnøvel.coɱ
Anita gave him a look. When Owen received it, he waved his hand helplessly. "Just listen to Mom. Sit and eat. I’ll be over there soon."
Anita listened to Owen, nodded, and sat down.
The chef was quick. After the dishes were served, Jacob came down.
Anita wanted to stand up and greet Jacob when she saw him. However, just as she stood up, before she could say anything, Jacob hurriedly waved his hand and laughed. "Anita, don’t be so formal. We’re family from now on."
"Yes, Dad," Anita said with a smile as she listened to Jacob.
"Okay, okay. Hurry up and sit," Jacob ordered with a smile.
Dinner was plentiful today. There was actually a lot of food that Anita loved. She was a little shocked when she saw the dishes, but she also felt very touched.
Anita could really feel Jacob and Silvia’s love for her.
At that moment, Anita felt a wave of sadness. How sad would Jacob and Sylvia be when they found out about it the day she and Owen divorced?
"Anita, what are you thinking about? Hurry up and eat." Sylvia looked at the distracted Anita and smiled, then said, "I asked Owen about what you like to eat, and he doesn’t know much, so I asked the chef to make a few of your hometown dishes. Try them and see if they taste good," Sylvia said as she put some food on Anita’s plate.
Anita came back to her senses and looked at the food on the plate. She quickly said, "Thank you, Mom. It’s delicious. I’ve tried it all, and it tastes like my hometown’s food very much."
"That’s good. You guys don’t come back often. Eat more," Sylvia said with a smile as she greeted Anita.
"Mom, don’t be like this. We’re in our own home. Don’t be so formal," Owen said while watching his mother greet Anita warmly. He was afraid Anita would feel uncomfortable.
"Don’t worry, Mom. I won’t be polite. You and Dad should eat too," Anita knew Owen was afraid she would be embarrassed, so she said.
