Chapter 47: Happy Marriage
Editor: Henyee Translations
When Owen heard the butler’s "happy marriage", he recalled their unhappy parting last night, but these things weren’t caused by a hotel butler, so he reached out and said, "Thank you."
"You’re too kind. You’re welcome to visit next time," The butler looked at Owen, who still didn’t look happy, while maintaining the smile on his face as he bowed and said.
When the car was out of sight, the butler patted his chest and whispered to the doorman beside him, "When I said happy marriage, this guest’s expression scared me to death."
"I don’t know what rich people are thinking, but I think the two of them look very compatible. I wonder if they have discovered it themselves?" the doorman said softly.
Owen and Anita, who were sitting in the car, naturally didn’t know what others were talking about. The two of them hadn’t spoken a word since last night, and even the atmosphere in the car was a little tense. The driver wanted to say a few words to ease the atmosphere, but he didn’t know what to say.
The two of them looked at each other in silence until the plane landed and they received a call from Sylvia after retrieving their luggage. Then, Owen turned around and spoke to Anita for the first time.
"Pack up. I’ll send a car to pick you up later."
"Pick me up... to send me where?" Anita asked while feeling a little puzzled.
"Miss Anita, we’re already married. Just now, my mother called and asked where we were staying when we got back. I said we were staying in my own house. Or do you want to live with them?" Owen couldn’t help but tease when he saw how confused Anita looked.
"No... I don’t think so. It’s better to stay with you," Anita said quickly while glancing at Owen.
"That’s good. Then I’ll have the driver drive you back first. You can pack up and stay at my place," Owen said while smiling at Anita’s slightly nervous reply.
"Sure, got it." Anita looked at Owen, who was finally smiling, and her mood brightened.
Owen still had things to do at the company, so he went back to the company with his assistant after giving instructions to Anita.
It wasn’t until Owen left Anita and sat alone in the car that she felt like something was missing. She had been with Owen for the past few days, and they had been eating and playing together. Now that they were suddenly separated, she suddenly felt uncomfortable.
This feeling became even stronger when she arrived at the place where they lived. The house hadn’t been inhabited for many days and was covered with a thin layer of dust. It looked extremely cold and cheerless. Having gotten used to having someone to accompany her, she felt lonely when she suddenly became alone. fɾeewebnoveℓ.co๓
Anita put down her luggage and tried to calm herself down. She cleaned the room briefly before tidying up the clothes she wanted to take with her.
Owen’s driver was punctual. He was already waiting outside Anita’s house just after five.
He didn’t give Anita much time to think about it. By the time she realized it, she was standing in front of Owen’s house with the door key the driver had just given her.
Anita stood in the doorway and thought for a moment before carefully turning the latch. She unlocked the door, pushed it open, and went inside. She put her luggage in the doorway first.
Then, Anita changed her shoes and couldn’t help but size up the house. To be honest, this house was definitely much bigger than the house she rented.
However, the interior of the house was simple and spacious. There were no unnecessary decorations, and it looked like a model house for the sales department.
Anita couldn’t help but think that the minimalist style reflected Owen’s style.
After surveying the living room, Anita went to look at the rooms. There was a master bedroom, a guest bedroom, and a study. There was nothing special about the rooms.
After Anita pushed the door open and went into the study, she realized this was probably Owen’s favorite place. He must have taken a lot of time to design it.
The study itself wasn’t small, but the four walls were made into embedded bookcases filled with all kinds of books. Anita looked over carefully and found that many of them were related to Owen’s profession.
Anita’s phone suddenly rang. It was a call from Sylvia.
Annita didn’t know why her mother would suddenly call her. She picked up the phone nervously and said, "Hey, what happened, Mom?"
"Anita, where are you? I called Owen just now and he said he’s still busy. This guy’s already married but he’s still not home yet," said Sylvia on the other end of the phone.
"Mom, it’s okay. He’s going to be busy for a few days after his break. I’m already home," Anita said politely.
"Oh, that’s good. Anita, your father and I have discussed it. We want you and Owen to stay at our home. What do you think?" Sylvia asked cautiously. She didn’t think it was appropriate either. After all, they were newlyweds.
Anita didn’t expect Sylvia to suddenly say that and was stunned.
