Chapter 41: Misunderstanding
[Shadow Heal: This ability allows you to heal yourself or others using your shadow energy. You can absorb damage taken by yourself or others and redirect it into a burst of healing energy.
Lvl 1: The ability has a cooldown of 10 minutes. Domination would be consumed depending on the severity of the wound healed.]
"Interesting. But the question is, can it heal any wound?" Shinon muttered to himself as he read through the details. "I guess there’s only one way to find out." fгeewebnovёl.com
Shinon sat in his tent, out of sight of Kira and Rico, who were busy disposing of the undead. He looked over his shoulder to ensure they were still occupied before closing his eyes and focusing on his thoughts.
"Here goes nothing- argh!"
Shinon bit his arm to muffle the screams as he plunged the sword into his thigh. Blood gushed out of the wound like water from a pressurised container.
Ignoring the pain, he closed his eyes and focused on his shadow energy, willing to heal the wound. Suddenly, a burst of dark energy emanated from his body, and the wound on his thigh began to close up.
As that happened, he felt a strange energy coursing through him, like a cool breeze on a hot day. He felt the shadows around him growing stronger, almost like they were alive.
With a deep breath, he concentrated on a small cut on his thigh. He pictured the shadows swirling around him, merging into a dense cloud that enveloped him in darkness.
He felt a tingling sensation as the shadows flowed into him, knitting the cut closed and healing the damaged skin. As he opened his eyes, he saw that the wound had disappeared, leaving only a faint scar behind.
Once the cut closed, Shinon felt the pain recede. He didn’t recover the lost blood; otherwise, he was fine. His movement hadn’t been affected in any way, which meant he could have continued without any concerns if he had been in a fight.
"The problem is the duration I have to concentrate for the wound to heal, not to mention the amount of [Domination] it consumed," Shinon mumbled as the counter showing his [Domination] points got reduced by a third. "It’s better to use the skill strictly in life-threatening situations."

Kira wiped the sweat from her forehead as she straightened up from tending to the corpses. Rico was as energetic as ever. Unfortunately, creating and manipulating vines rapidly drained her stamina; hence she couldn’t keep pulling the bodies from under the moat.
"Hey Rico, have you seen Shinon?" Kira asked, walking over to where Rico was ’sharpening’ his machetes on the undead corpses.
Rico glanced up at her. "No, I haven’t seen him since he left to clear the undead corpses on the other. Ah, wait, he said something about feeling tired. Maybe he’s inside his tent?"
"That’s not like him, and he’s usually pretty energetic. I think I’ll go and check on him."
"You know a lot about him, huh?" Rico teased her. "How long have you known him again?"
"Oh, just shut it!" Kira retorted, visibly embarrassed by Rico’s remarks.
Rico watched as Kira headed towards Shinon’s tent before smiling and shaking his head. "Just admit your feeling for once."
Without wasting another moment, Rico kept hacking the undead corpses, ensuring they were dead. ƒгeewebnovёl.com
Kira walked over to Shinon’s tent and opened the flap. Inside, she saw Shinon lying on his bed. His eyes closed as if he was meditating or something along those lines.
"Shinon, could you clear the remaining undead corpses around the base? I’m beat," Kira said as she walked over to sit beside him.
Shinon nodded. "Sure, I’ll take care of it. You go rest."
Kira nodded and was about to leave when she noticed a small red stain on the edge of Shinon’s bedroll. She had no doubt it was blood. Before Shinon could leave the tent, Kira grabbed his hand, pointing at the bloodstain.
"Shinon, is that blood on your bedroll?" she asked, her voice laced with concern.
Shinon stopped and looked at Kira. His eyes widened briefly before he quickly composed himself and gave her a reassuring smile.
"Don’t worry, it’s just a scratch," he said, pointing at his torn jeans to show her a small cut on his thigh. "I already applied some antiseptic on it."
"Are you sure it’s nothing serious? Let me take a look," Kira narrowed her eyes, not entirely convinced.
"I got everything under control. Relax!"
"Let me see it, Shinon. I want to make sure you’re okay."
Shinon couldn’t help but tease Kira. "Oh, you just want to see me without my pants, don’t you?"
"That’s not what I-I meant, Shinon. D-Don’t be ridiculous," Kira flushed and looked away, scratching her neck.
Shinon laughed and shook his head, "Alright, alright, calm down. It’s just a small scratch on my thigh. Nothing serious."
He rolled up his pant leg to show Kira the wound, which had been reduced to a tiny scratch. Kira examined the wound carefully, still worried.
’This wound doesn’t look like something that was taken care of moments ago,’ Kira thought to herself. ’Something doesn’t add up here.’
However, before she could comment on the oddity of the wound, Rico entered the tent. His eyes widened as he saw Shinon with his pants down and Kira kneeling in front of him. He immediately turned around, embarrassed, and apologised.
"Oh my god, I’m sorry! I didn’t mean to interrupt anything!" he stammered.
Kira tried to explain the situation, but she was so flustered that she couldn’t form coherent sentences. "N-no, it’s not what you think! I was just checking his wound!"
But Shinon cut her off. "Oi, do you mind? We’re having a moment here!"
Rico’s face turned even redder as he realised his mistake. "Right, of course. Sorry, sorry, I’ll just go wait outside, and you guys can carry on with your... business."
As soon as Rico left the tent, Kira turned to Shinon with a scowl. "You shouldn’t have said that! Now he thinks we were doing something else!"
Shinon chuckled, "Relax, Kira. Rico will forget about it in no time."
"But still, it’s embarrassing!" Kira protested. "Just make sure you don’t say anything like that again!"
Shinon grinned mischievously, "Can’t make any promises."
Kira shook her head, trying to hide her smile. Despite the awkwardness, it was a funny moment they would all look back on and laugh about in the future. Meanwhile, Shinon sighed, knowing he had diverted her attention off his wound.
