Chapter 137: Copy (2)

"Argh!"

The Queen’s mandibles bit into Shinon’s shoulder, their razor-sharp edges clashing against the Scarbite armour. Pain lanced through his body, but the armour held firm, protecting him from the full force of the attack. Even then, the pain was intense as the armour’s durability dropped by half.

As if that wasn’t enough, the Queen grabbed Shinon’s face before liking his face with her weirdly long tongue. ƒгeewёbnovel.com

Shinon could foresee what was about to happen next. Not wanting to be molested by an insect, he quickly phased into his shadow, barely escaping his unthinkable danger.

"Aww... why do you keep running away from fate?" The Queen liked her lips with a satisfied smirk.

She had inflicted damage. She had humiliated Shinon. Maybe it was her way of payback for the threat he gave her, or perhaps, the Queen had specific fetishes as well.

Shinon didn’t know the answer and had no interest in knowing what kind of twisted fixations the Queen had for him.

"Maybe... I shouldn’t kill you after all." The Queen mumbled, caressing one of her eggs. "I could get rid of your limbs as punishment, and it’s not like I need them to mate with you... yes. I could do the same to your companion and let my workers enjoy her."

Her victory seemed assured as she let out a high-pitched scream, a piercing call that echoed through the chamber.

Shinon’s heart sank as he heard the response to her call. The air grew heavy with the ominous buzzing of insectoid wings.

A horde of the Queen’s loyal subjects emerged from the staircase and the vents above, their numbers overwhelming. Shinon was trapped, surrounded on all sides.

The swarm descended upon him, their numbers blotting out the light. Shinon fought with every ounce of his strength, his blade slicing through the air, desperately trying to keep them at bay. But for every insectoid he struck down, two more took its place.

A sudden realisation struck as Shinon fought against the swarm of insectoids. He remembered the upgraded Shadow Mimic ability he had acquired, allowing him to temporarily replicate his opponents’ skills.

Although he didn’t obtain the ability before, the skill’s cooldown was up, and there was no harm in attempting to do what he wanted to. Even if he failed, he’d need to keep repeating until he copied the Queen’s skill.

With a focused determination, Shinon activated his Shadow Mimic ability again, his form shrouded in dark energy. As he concentrated on the Queen, he felt a connection forming, a resonance with her abilities.

His stats shot up, and so did his determination to get out of there alive.

[The User has successfully copied the target’s skill: <Queen’s Cry>.]

[The User can use this ability till the duration of the skill <Shadow Mimic> doesn’t run out.]

A surge of power coursed through Shinon’s veins as he unleashed the replicated skill. His voice rang out, imitating the high-pitched scream of the Queen with astonishing accuracy.

The effect was immediate. The insectoids, caught off guard by the familiar cry, faltered in their attacks.

Confusion spread among the ranks of the insectoids as they hesitated, their loyalty temporarily swayed by the mimicry of their Queen’s call.

Usually, the Insectoids would have been able to differentiate between the two. Still, since Queen had been licking Shinon’s face until a moment ago, she had unintentionally rubbed her pheromones all over him.

Sensing the opportunity, Shinon took control, his voice commanding and authoritative.

"Attack the imposter!" he bellowed, his voice carrying the pheromones of the Queen herself. "Protect me!"

The swarm, driven by instinct and the influence of the Queen’s pheromones that coated Shinon, shifted their focus.

They turned on their own leader, their former allegiance forgotten in the chaos of the battle. The tide turned, and the Queen found herself facing her own loyal subjects.

In a stunning reversal, the insectoids descended upon the Queen, their frenzied attacks raining down upon her. The Queen fought back fiercely, her powerful strikes and deadly mandibles lashing out in a desperate bid to defend herself.

Shinon seized the opportunity, using his Blade of Chaos and his abilities to his advantage. He plunged into the fray, striking at the Queen whenever he saw an opening.

Once under the Queen’s control, the insectoids fought with a newfound ferocity against their former leader.

The swarm overwhelmed her, their numbers proving too much for the Queen to handle alone. She stumbled, her movements growing sluggish as the relentless assault took its toll.

"NO! Stop it, you fools!" The Queen yelled, but none of her children heard her screams for help as they kept attacking her.

"She lies! Kill the imposter!" Shinon kept urging the swarm, and surprisingly, they willingly followed his command.

Shinon pressed the attack, his determination unyielding. He called upon his shadow tendrils, intertwining them with the insectoids’ attacks, amplifying their power and precision by blocking the Queen’s attempts to attack the swarm.

The combined force of Shinon and the swarm was too much for the Queen to withstand.

Shinon stood at the centre of the battlefield, his gaze fixed on the Queen. With a wave of his hand, Shinon signalled the swarm to encircle the Queen, ensuring she couldn’t escape or mount a counterattack.

The insectoids obeyed, forming a protective barrier around their fallen former leader. The Queen weakened and wounded, struggled to rise from the ground. Her insectoid features contorted with rage and disbelief.

Her lust to find an impressive mate had blinded her to underestimating Shinon. Shinon approached her cautiously, his Blade of Chaos at the ready.

He knew he had to end this once and for all. As he neared, he could sense the Queen’s desperation and fury, her instinct for self-preservation overriding any rational thought.

The Queen hissed, her mandibles clicking in defiance. "You may have them for now, but they will never truly be yours. They are mine by birthright, and I am their true ruler!"

Shinon’s eyes narrowed, his grip on his blade tightening. "Your rule ends here, Queen. Your reign and your species will never see another sunrise again." freewebnøvel.com

With a swift motion, Shinon swung his Blade of Chaos toward the Queen. The Blade of Chaos ripped through her body, savouring her blood.
