Chapter 134: When Nightmares Merge (1)

Shinon, his Blade of Chaos pulsating with dark energy, twirled and slashed through the undead ranks. Each swing left a trail of searing fire in its wake as Shinon used both the blade and the machete, reducing the shambling creatures to ashes.

His mastery of shadowmancy complemented his fiery onslaught, allowing him to manipulate the darkness to strike with deadly precision.

Lova, her psychic abilities bolstered by her unwavering determination, unleashed waves of telekinetic force. The zombies were thrown aside like ragdolls, and their feeble attempts to overpower her met with swift retaliation.

With her flaming machete as an extension of her will, she wielded fire and mind in a deadly symphony.

The battle raged on, the building becoming a battleground of fire and shadows. The insectoids, driven to a frenzy by the inferno, retaliated with renewed ferocity.

The creatures swarmed Shinon and Lova, their numbers overwhelming. Shinon’s Blade of Chaos sliced through the air, a blur of deadly precision, while Lova’s psychic powers unleashed waves of telekinetic force.

However, the insectoids proved relentless, their armoured exoskeletons shielding them from the onslaught. Shinon’s shadowmancy faltered, the darkness struggling to penetrate their defences. Lova’s flames waned, her psychic energy draining under constant strain. ƒгeewёbnovel.com

"We can’t hold them off much longer!" Shinon yelled above the chaos, his voice laced with urgency.

Lova gritted her teeth, her eyes blazing with determination. "We need a way out!"

Together, they fought their way back through the building, the relentless horde of insectoids in hot pursuit. The walls seemed to close around them, each corridor a maze of danger. But Shinon and Lova refused to yield.

"We’re getting close," Shinon yelled over the chaos as they neared the entrance of the second floor. "Lova, follow my lead!"

He veered sharply towards a room filled with thick, overgrown vines snaking along the walls. With a swift motion, he drew his Blade of Chaos and cut a path through the vegetation, creating a barrier of tangled greenery.

"Quick, Lova! Ignite the vines!" he shouted, his voice laced with adrenaline.

"Got it!"

Lova lashed out at nearby vines, setting them on fire to release a thick cloud of dense smoke. The smoke billowed out, enveloping the area, disorienting the zombies and the hovering insectoids.

"Stay close!" Shinon shouted, his voice barely audible over the chaotic racket.

He reached out, grasping Lova’s arm to guide her through the smoke-filled air.

Lova coughed, her voice strained. "What’s the plan now? We can’t see a thing."

"Just wait."

Amid the chaos, Shinon’s eyes narrowed with determination. He knew they had a brief window of opportunity and intended to make the most of it.

With a focused mind, he summoned his shadow tendrils again, extending them towards the disoriented insectoids.

The shadowy appendages snaked through the smoky haze, latching onto the writhing forms of the insectoids. With a surge of power, Shinon yanked them down from the air, their wings beating futilely against the force of his grip.

The insectoids crashed into the ground with a resounding thud, momentarily stunned and incapacitated.

Shinon’s eyes darted around, searching for any sign of the insectoids. "The smoke gives us an advantage. It hampers their ability to track us. We must use this opportunity to locate the other insectoid hatcheries. Destroying them is our only chance at stopping this invasion."

As they cautiously navigated through the murky atmosphere, the buzzing of insectoid wings became fainter, as if they were struggling to manoeuvre in the thick smoke.

Shinon and Lova took advantage of the limited visibility, moving with deliberate steps to avoid stumbling into the clutches of the undead.

Shinon and Lova cautiously made their way through the dimly lit chamber, their eyes scanning the surroundings for any signs of movement.

The acrid smell of the insectoids lingered in the air, mingling with the unsettling stench of decay. As they ventured deeper, they stumbled upon a sight that froze them.

Rows upon rows of large, pulsating eggs filled the chamber, each housing a humanoid figure. The sight sent a shiver down Shinon’s spine, his eyes widening with shock and disbelief. Lova gasped, her hand instinctively covering her mouth in horror.

Shinon’s voice trembled with a mixture of confusion and alarm.

"What... What is this? Humanoid subjects? Are the insectoids using the zombies as hosts to evolve themselves?"

"This is beyond anything we could have imagined. They are adapting, evolving, using the zombies as vessels for their own advancement." Lova’s eyes widened in disbelief, her voice barely a whisper.

"We need to destroy this place-"

Before they could react, a figure emerged from the shadows, her humanoid-insectoid form adorned with an air of twisted elegance. She stepped forward, a wicked smile playing on her lips as she introduced herself.

"I’m afraid I can’t allow you to cause any more chaos... in my sanctuary."

Shinon’s eyes narrowed as he clenched his fists, his voice cutting through the tense silence. "And who the hell are you?"

The hybrid creature regarded him with cold, calculating eyes, a smirk on her lips. "I am the Queen of the Insectoids, the culmination of their evolution, and you... are quite a specimen. It’s rare for a human to pique my interest."

"Sorry to disappoint, I’m not into freaks-"

Without warning, she lunged at Shinon, her movements swift and deadly. He barely had time to react, narrowly avoiding her initial strike. The force of her attack sent him stumbling backwards, his body colliding with the hard surface of a nearby wall.

Lova’s eyes widened in alarm as she rushed to Shinon’s side, her machete ready. "Shinon! Are you alright?"

He pushed himself up, his body aching from the impact. "I’m fine. Just a little caught off guard."

His eyes never left the Queen of the Insectoids, trying to look for a weakness. Unfortunately, he couldn’t find any. Although she did not have a tough exoskeleton like the rest of the insectoids, it felt like the Queen could control her exoskeleton and manipulate it into doing whatever she wished.

The Queen of the Insectoids let out a chilling laugh realising what the look on Shinon’s face meant, her voice filled with mockery. "Foolish humans. You underestimate the power I possess. Nothing in this world can stop me!"
