Chapter 133: Fiery Gambit (2)
Shinon and Lova moved with silent precision, their bodies melding with the shadows as they navigated through the dilapidated corridors of the building. The putrid stench of decay hung heavy in the air, mingling with the faint hum of the insectoids’ wings.
Their objective was clear—to set the building ablaze and rid it of the abominations that infested its halls.
As they reached a secluded corner, Shinon signalled Lova to halt. They crouched low, peering around the corner to assess the situation ahead.
The room before them was a hive of insectoid activity, their chittering echoes bouncing off the walls. A swarm of zombies shuffled mindlessly, their milky eyes devoid of life.
"We need to split up," Shinon whispered, his gaze fixed on Lova. "We can cover more ground that way. Be careful, though."
Lova’s grip tightened on her flaming machete. "I’ll be fine, Shinon. Just make sure to meet back here once we’ve dealt with our targets."
They exchanged a nod of understanding before disappearing into the shadows. Each step carried the weight of their task, their determination unwavering even in the face of certain death.
Shinon’s path led him down a winding staircase, the air growing colder with each descent. His senses heightened. He moved with a predator’s grace, his Blade of Chaos gleaming with anticipation. The distant chattering of the insectoids grew louder, urging him onward.
As he reached the bottom of the staircase, he found himself in a vast chamber. The walls were adorned with pulsating egg sacs, quivering with life. The insectoids flitted around, their wings a blur of motion. Shinon’s eyes narrowed, his resolve solidifying.
’So that’s why all of them were attracted to this place,’ Shinon thought as he stared at the glowing eggs. ’But it only makes sense for the insectoids to be here... what the heck are the zombies gathering at this place?’
Just as Shinon was prepared to unleash his final strike upon the insectoid nest, a sudden realisation swept over him.
The eggs contained within the chamber held valuable knowledge that could aid in understanding the insectoids’ biology and weaknesses. Destroying them would mean losing an opportunity for crucial research.
His Blade of Chaos halted mid-air, the weight of his decision heavy upon him. Instead of annihilation, he saw an opportunity for deeper understanding. He carefully gathered a handful of the pulsating egg sacs, delicately placing them within the shadow domain.
These eggs, harbouring the secrets of the insectoid species, would now become invaluable specimens for further study. Shinon’s instinct for survival and strategic thinking combined, recognising the long-term benefits of capturing rather than annihilating.
’Now I can go berserk.’
A wry smile curled upon Shinon’s lips as he closed the container, securing the precious cargo within his domain. He would now have a key to unlocking their weaknesses, a chance to develop countermeasures against their relentless onslaught.
With a surge of shadow energy, he summoned tendrils of darkness to coil around his body, granting him heightened speed and agility. Moving like a wraith, he slipped past the insectoids, his presence masked by their frenzied activity.
Drawing closer to the egg sacs, he could feel the heat emanating from his flaming machete. He unsheathed it, the fire casting an ethereal glow on his face. He brought the blade down on the first sac with calculated precision, the flames devouring it hungrily.
As the fire spread, the chamber erupted into chaos. Insectoids screeched and panicked, their delicate bodies flailing as the flames consumed their home. Shinon moved with deadly efficiency, striking sac after sac, ensuring flames engulfed every corner of the chamber.
"Enough chaos here. Time to switch locations before more insectoids come charging towards me," Shinon mumbled as he slipped through the shadows.

Meanwhile, Lova found herself in a different part of the building, surrounded by a maze of narrow corridors. The low moans of the undead reverberated through the air, a constant reminder of the danger lurking in the shadows.
She clutched her flaming machete tightly. She knew she only had one shot at this, and messing it up would mean death for both her and shinon.
’Why am I even thinking of that moron!’ Lova shook her head, trying to get Shinon’s face out of her head.
With her psychic abilities at the ready, she extended her senses, feeling the vibrations in the air. The presence of the undead was palpable, their decaying stench hanging heavy in the corridor. She moved with a deftness born of practice, her machete illuminating her path.
As she rounded a corner, she came face to face with a horde of zombies. Their milky eyes locked onto her, their twisted forms hungering for her flesh. Lova took a deep breath, channelling her psychic energy.
"Feel the fury of the phoenix!" she cried, her voice ringing through the corridor.
Flames erupted from her machete, engulfing the zombies in an inferno. Their undead bodies sizzled and charred, their moans turning to agonised screams. Lova pressed forward, her flames dancing with each swing of her machete, cutting through the horde like a scythe through wheat.
As Lova swung her machete, she tapped into the depths of her psychic abilities. With a surge of mental energy, she infused her strikes with additional force, propelling the blade further into the relentless horde of enemies.
"Come one, come all!"
The air crackled with psychic energy as Lova’s movements became a dance of power and precision. She focused her mind, honing her psychic abilities to a razor’s edge.
With every strike, she channelled her mental energy into the blade, sending shockwaves of power through the ranks of the undead.
"I warned you not to yell, didn’t I?" Shinon’s voice echoed as his head popped out of Lova’s shadow. ƒrēewebnoѵёl.cσm
"What the heck are you doing inside me!?" Lova freaked out after seeing Shinon’s head pop in front of her out of nowhere.
"That’s what she said," Shinon shrugged, crawling out of the shadows. "I did my part, so I thought, as a good teammate, I should help you."
"Help my ass! You brought the insectoids here!" Lova screamed when she heard the buzzing sound heading towards them.
"Well... that too."
