Chapter 212: What family looks like (5)
Scarlet somehow managed to make it through dinner without getting up to search for Herbert. As long as Herbert and Sunny did not cross paths or one of the maids came across Herbert, the day should end well.
"Since you’re all so worried about Herbert, we will go to our room and place him in his box. First, come with us Victor," Rue said, needing to speak to him alone.
"It was wonderful seeing you again, Ian. I will try to be around when you and Leonard go on the hunt. I am not fond of it so I will not join you for practising. I hope you do well to help us win during the hunting contest," said Samara.
"There is something to be won?" Ian asked as he hadn’t heard about a reward.
Ryan stood up from his seat. "You will soon find how competitive this family is. There is a plaque to be displayed for a year to let everyone know you did best in the hunting portion. Scarlet’s group won it last year."
"And I plan to take it again this year. I must practise with my gun. Anyone you need dead?" Scarlet asked as running targets were better.
"There are but I would like to refrain from plotting anyone’s murder after dinner," Ryan replied.
"Please do," Samara agreed with him. "Ian, will you be staying here tonight? Leonard and I are staying as well as my in-laws. It seems fitting that you stay."
"In Scarlet’s room?" Ryan questioned, getting the reaction he wanted from Leonard.
Samara didn’t see why not. It was preferred that the couples did not share a bed until they were married but they had been slipping away from that kind of thing over the last few years. Couples were doing as they pleased these days and she had a feeling that it might not be the first time Ian ever stepped foot in Scarlet’s room.
Scarlet was grown enough to make her decisions and Samara didn’t want to meddle in the relationship. The only problem was the man beside her.
Samara looked down at Leonard who was calm but she knew him well to not fall for his calm side meaning he wasn’t annoyed or angry. No matter how old Scarlet got Leonard was always going to be overprotective of her. It was why he limited the trips they took out of town without Scarlet.
"Ryan wasn’t there something you wanted to speak to my husband about, and Alana, I should look at the invitations while I am here. Excuse us for a moment Scarlet," Samara said, pulling on her husband’s arm to get him to stand. ƒгeeweɓn૦vel.com
Leonard didn’t budge as he wanted to see Ian leave with his own eyes. "He has a home he must go to. Unless you put a ring on her finger, do not expect to share a bed with her here."
"Oh please, you are one to talk about getting the ring first," Samara reminded Leonard.
His mother and father were not shy about how their relationship was before they had gotten engaged and then Leonard was quite the charmer to get her to be intimate with him the very night they got engaged.
"You cannot be this way now that you have a daughter. She has grown enough to not need us to meddle so Leonard, get up and let us go to our room," said Samara.
Leonard looked up at his fuming wife. "You just said you wanted to speak to the princess."
"Well, now I want to go to bed with my husband. Should you not be there by the time I start to close the door, I will not open it for you when you arrive. Excuse us, everyone," Samara said, letting go of Leonard’s arm to let him decide what he was going to do.
As she expected, Leonard followed her out of the room but she knew his attention still had to be on Ian as he walked away.
"I will retire to my bed too. There is much for me to do tomorrow with studying and looking at dresses. Good evening," Alana gave her goodbyes. She pulled Ryan’s hand to get him to leave with her.
"Why is everyone going to their rooms when it is only evening?" Ryan wondered. They were acting like it was late in the night.
"We’ve been together all day. Everyone should enjoy a moment to themselves now," Alana answered.
Scarlet was now left with Ian and the maids cleaning up the table. "Well, it looks like you and Victor might need a room. Victor has been enjoying himself so it would be wrong to have him leave now."
"Is it only that or is it that you would enjoy laying with me tonight?" Ian asked, hoping the latter would be her answer.
"It can be both at once. Though, I don’t think I should spoil you tonight since someone who is in love with you is starting gossip again. I should send you away but I will be kind," Scarlet said, standing up first and then offering her hand to Ian. ’You are to keep your hands to yourself tonight."
They had stayed in each other’s rooms so it was pointless to now be sending him away.
"Scarlet, need I remind you how much you touch me in your sleep? I am not the one to be told about not touching. I will be the one who is kind and allows you to touch me as you please."
Scarlet squeezed his hand the second he placed it on her own. "That is not the kind of touching that I meant and you know it. You must leave early in the morning to start carrying out your plans concerning your father. I can lend you some of my guards if you need them."
"You seem more impatient to get this over with than I am. Want all of my attention to be solely on you?" Ian jokingly asked.
"Yes," Scarlet answered.
"Ha," Ian laughed, finding himself in a pickle. "Before they die, I will let them know their deaths came quicker because you wanted me all to yourself. Have your bags packed for taking a trip in three days. I will have my answers about Noelle by then and then you can have all of my attention."
"You mean it?" Scarlet asked, excited that they could leave Lockwood. Even if it were to be for a day or two, she welcomed getting away from the people here.
"I do," Ian lifted their hands to kiss Scarlet’s. "I will take care of where we will go. You only need to be ready."
