Chapter 206: Future plans (2)

"Scarlet? Have I broken you? Was it too soon to tell you that I love you?" Ian asked as she was just staring at him. "Or is it about marriage? The child? We do not need to ever get married if it is not what you want. I didn’t mean for us to get married now either."

Ian recalled jokingly telling her that he could help her have a child so it shouldn’t come as a surprise to now hear him speak of making a baby again. As for marriage, he wasn’t in a rush to do it but he had to show that he was taking their relationship seriously.

"Are you blushing?" Ian asked, noticing a redness to her cheeks just before she turned to look away from him. "Honestly, Scarlet. You should save this side of you for when your grandparents are not here because I can’t take you to your room."

"Don’t say nonsense and don’t fill my grandmother with hope," Scarlet said.

"Why? You wouldn’t like to have a child with me one day or get married? Am I not worthy of being the one you settle down with?" Ian asked as it seemed like she did not want it.

"Do not put words in my mouth. If you show eagerness to have a child as soon as possible, my grandmother will be looking for news about it every week and the drink is horrible. I have smelt it before. I want to go slow," Scarlet said, preferring the pace they had now.

If they rushed when they didn’t need to then they might ruin everything.

"You say that after having me in your mouth-"

"Do not mention that," Scarlet said, now regretting her actions. "If I had known it would be brought up like now, I wouldn’t have done it. Maybe I will never do it again."

"I will behave," Ian said and folded his lips so he wouldn’t make another mistake.

Scarlet shook her head at his reaction. "At the very least, they seem to like you. You may need to be around my grandfather a few more times, but I don’t think he would turn to hate you. You may speak, Ian. Your silence is also annoying so just speak."

"It feels like you want everyone to like me because I might be the man you marry one day. Just let me hear you say it. If we continue to grow closer and you find yourself comfortable with me, would you marry me if I asked?" Ian questioned, wanting to be spoiled for what was to come.

Scarlet didn’t want to answer now even though she had her answer. "Aren’t you to wait for the answer when you officially ask? Why should you know now to spoil it? We can go inside now."

Ian held her hand and didn’t budge from where he stood. "Not until I get an answer. I don’t mind being spoiled. You heard me before, didn’t you? How I said that I love you. I don’t need you to say it because I have, but at least make my day good by answering my question."

Scarlet bit her lip. "I would say wait for the future. If you ask me about my answer now, then I will say no. Stay outside if you want," she said, leaving first to go back inside. She liked the traditional way of giving him the answer when he asked. It would feel more special then than answering now.

The cold air was a quick reminder of why she did not join the others in the walk around the garden in the first place.

"How cruel of you," Ian said, following behind Scarlet. Though he was disappointed, Ian looked forward to what the answer would be. "What a pity. If you had answered me now, I would have told you what I want for a gift."

Scarlet stopped, surprised he knew of her plans. "How did you know about that?"

Ian walked by Scarlet without answering.

"It couldn’t have been Florence. Was it Alana?" Scarlet asked, desperate to find the traitor.

"There is someone who frets about it so much that she mumbles about a gift in her sleep. You have no idea how hard it was to not wake you to ask about it. I would happily share with you what I want, but I shouldn’t make it easy for you. Aren’t you coming inside?" Ian asked, holding the door open for Scarlet.

Ian couldn’t stop smiling as he enjoyed the sight of her being either angry or annoyed that she didn’t have the answer she wanted. freewebnoveℓ.com

"I think that it is time for you to go. I already have to keep an eye on my grandmother," Scarlet said, deciding to save herself from dealing with two troublesome people at once. "Don’t you have somewhere to be with Victor? Oh, Victor!"

Ian frowned as he did not enjoy the way she called Victor’s name. "If you are trying to hurt me then you have succeeded. You should only be so loud when we are alone and it concerns me."

"Focus you horny fool. It slipped my mind to ask my grandmother about helping Victor. She is talented when it comes to poisons and may have the answer to Victor getting better. We must ask her to help him," Scarlet said, taking hold of Ian’s hand once more to pull him along.

Scarlet didn’t know how it slipped her mind to have Rue look for a way to help Victor. The Woods family, which was Rue’s mother’s side of the family, were experts when it came to poison as they used many different types when there was still a war.

"Grandmother! You must help him."

Rue looked at the two rushing toward him. "I thought the two of you weren’t in a rush. I don’t have the ingredients to make the drink."

"Not that. His younger brother might have been poisoned in his youth which has led to him being sick. Is there any way for you to help him get better?" Scarlet asked.

"Well, I should but his youth? He might have needed to come to me long ago. Since he is still alive, maybe there is something I can do but I would need to know what kind of poison it was. After that, he would need to go to the border with me. Everything is there since Eli doesn’t want poison in our home. Even though I have the remedies," Rue said, side-eyeing her husband. fгeewebnovёl.com

Now look at them having to go to the border to help Ian’s brothet instead of having the answers at home.

"He will join you even if I have to tie him up. I will bring the poison as soon as I can," Ian said, now finding it more important than ever to confront Hank and Layla.

Not only was this about finding Noelle now but he had to be quick to try to make Victor better.
