Chapter 177: Treat (3)

Despite wanting to get dressed for dinner beforehand so there wasn’t much for her to do after she ate, Scarlet sat in the kitchen, watching as Ian prepared her food.

It smelled good from beginning to end and Scarlet wondered how long it took for him to become good at cooking. What kind of food did he have to put up with when he first ran away from home? He had no choice but to get better if he wanted to survive on good-tasting food.

Ian was completely aware of the way she watched his every move. Scarlet was making it hard for him to concentrate. To not cut his finger because he wanted to sneak a glance at how she was staring at him.

If not for wanting to give her something proper to eat since all she ate were the sandwiches and a piece of cake at their little party, he would end this now and have her once more.

She had him acting like this was his first time being intimate with a woman and it would be the end of the world soon so he had to touch her as many times as he could now. freewebnøvel.coɱ

Ian sighed as he had unexpectedly turned into a love-sick fool. He couldn’t help but laugh at himself. Since when had his evenings become that he would be standing around in the kitchen preparing dinner for someone? He never liked cooking for Owen and he knew the fool longer than he knew Scarlet.

"How much longer will it be?" Scarlet’s question interrupted his thoughts.

"Not long. I will get the plates," Ian answered.

He put everything to the side to focus on getting Scarlet fed. Ian had noticed that good food was also the way to her heart.

Once more, his home felt different as he had someone to sit and eat with him. It was something Ian could get very used to for the rest of his life.

Scarlet and Ian ate in silence, both surprised at how hungry they were. Scarlet wanted Ian to stop putting more food on her plate each time she was about to finish. She wasn’t someone who needed to be fattened up. He only stopped when she picked up the dinner knife.

Scarlet wanted to use the knife to cut the last of her meat. It wasn’t her fault that Ian took it as something else.

When they were finished, Ian offered to clean up which Scarlet found to be suspicious. There were maids around and she thought he would be quick to take her to where they were going to spend the night.

Scarlet disliked it when he would pester her in the beginning to the point she agreed with what he wanted only for Ian to turn around and be slow when he knew that she was anticipating what he would do.

Ian seriously underestimated how quickly she could change her mind. She just might go to bed and fall asleep if he continued to be this way.

Scarlet left the kitchen first so she could look around and find a bathroom to use. She heard someone coming behind her and knew that it was Ian. "Weren’t you cleaning up the kitchen?"

"Do I detect a hint of anger?" Ian questioned. "I didn’t know you would be so upset that I stayed behind for a moment. Are you angry that I am taking so long?"

"Don’t get ahead of yourself. Where is the room that I can use? I am tired," Scarlet said, stopping at every door she passed as she tried to guess which one had her bag in it.

Ian took hold of Scarlet’s hand to take her to their bedroom. "It is up the stairs. I will need to give you a tour in the morning since you are tired. The rain outside is the perfect weather for us to go to sleep."

Heavy rain beating against his home had always helped Ian to relax since there was something about the sound that calmed him. Now, adding Scarlet to be in his arms during it, he might have a good night’s sleep.

Scarlet could not understand Ian. She stayed quiet until they reached the room so none of Ian’s ghost servants would hear what she wanted to ask.

When they entered the room and closed the door, Scarlet found herself trapped.

"Are you truly tired?" Ian questioned, moving her hair from out of her face. He would let her rest if she was tired. Scarlet already had an eventful day so he could allow her to rest now.

"No," Scarlet honestly replied. She wasn’t ready to close her eyes and go to sleep just yet.

"Then," Ian started, his fingers playing with the first button of the shirt she wore. He was ready to undo. "Can I join you?"

"It is your home, Ian. You can do as you want," Scarlet answered.

Ian rested his head on her shoulder as that was the wrong answer. She shouldn’t ever tell him to do as he pleased. "Scarlet, have you no awareness? If I do as I want, you won’t get any rest soon."

"I didn’t work today so I am not tired. We both did not come here just to go to bed. I am not a fool," Scarlet said.

She was prepared for them to be intimate again at some point when she agreed to come here with Ian. A little bit more before bed would not be so bad.

She wanted him and he wanted her. Why play pretend to not notice it?

Scarlet felt his cold hands slip underneath her shirt. She touched them to stop him from undressing her. "I need to get washed up first."

Ian leaned back to peer down at her and it was here that she noticed all his playfulness was gone. Just seeing how he gazed at her, Scarlet wanted to have him now.

’I intend to join you so allow me to help you get undressed. I am giving you right now to take back your offer to let me do as I please," Ian said, waiting for her answer. If only she could be in his head for a moment, she wouldn’t allow him to do this.

Ian liked her voice and wanted to fill this quiet room with it.

Scarlet tugged on Ian’s to bring him closer to her. She was a grown woman who knew what she wanted. She wanted exactly what he had on his mind and needed it now. "I said to do as you please, Ian. Must I be any clearer?"

"No," Ian replied, his hands going under her shirt once more.
