Chapter 146: Get out (2)
"I am not leaving. This home is for the two of us and our child. What do you think others will say about you knowing that you’ve abandoned your unborn child? Your reputation had already started to take a hit after you cheated on Scarlet. I was the one to put the effort in to save you," said Beth.
Beth followed Jack as he tried to get away from her to not hear the truth.
"If you abandon me now after everything that I have done, I will ruin you," Beth warned, serious with her threat.
If she had to fall back to the life she had before Jack, Beth was going to ruin his life as well. He could not fill her head with all these dreams and then take them back now that he was jealous Scarlet had a man at her side.
Beth stopped when Jack abruptly stopped before her. She didn’t think he was crazy enough to harm her, but this was the same man throwing her out. "This is my home as well. I spent time decorating it. I will go to your mother if you try to kick me out."
Jack laughed as it was funny to hear Beth trying to threaten him. "You own nothing, Beth. I have paid for all that you use and I can take it back when I feel like it. You’ve lived a spoiled life for some time now. Be grateful and move on."
Jack turned around to face Beth. "Our child will be well taken care of. I will find you a smaller home more suited for someone of your status. You should find a way to make yourself some money because I will only be caring for my child."
"You-"
"I will make you a good offer. Leave the child to me and let it be raised by Scarlet. I shall give you enough money for you to not need to find your way under another man. It is a good offer. Take it," Jack urged Beth.
One problem would be solved when he got back with Scarlet.
Beth couldn’t believe Jack would make such a suggestion. If she was pregnant, Scarlet would not get her hands on her child. "Now you want to point out how our relationship started. You are trying to call me a whore. When will you see your fault in how our relationship started? I am no less or more of what you are."
"You will not have my baby. I am not leaving without everything that I bought- No, I am not leaving at all," Beth corrected herself. Why should she leave when this was her home? She had nothing to return to. "Does it bring you joy to ruin women this way?"
"Funny you say that when you enjoyed ruining the happiness of another woman. Take a few of the things you bought so you can sell them. I want you out by night and do not think of going to my mother. Find someone else to bother," Jack said, uninterested in where she would go.
Jack wasn’t worried about what would happen to the child since Beth knew that it was her only way to get him to take care of her. She would not let any harm fall on this child.
He needed to plan a meeting with Scarlet so he could tell her that he was sorry and let her know that he had a way for them to raise a child. There would be a lot of begging and apologising to be done, but he would do it to get back his woman.
"Jack! You cannot do this to me. Jack!" Beth yelled, chasing after him. What kind of man would put out the woman carrying his child?
Beth didn’t think their disagreement was that big for Jack to want to throw her out. He had said things that she didn’t like so she responded. This was going too far.
"You’ll always be a coward. I spoke of how you were smaller when beside her and this is what you want to do? I will not have you embarrass me this way. Jack!" Beth cried, no longer following him since he wouldn’t stop to listen to her.
Jack had lost his mind and despite what he said, Beth knew that her only hope was in going to Dorothy. Dorothy might not have warmed up to her yet, but she would not want any harm to come to her grandchild.
Beth wiped away her tears as it wasn’t worth her time to be standing around crying. She had to move quickly so that when night came, she had somewhere to rest her head.
"He will regret making a fool out of me," Beth muttered as she walked to the door to get a carriage. She would be back here in a few hours and Jack would be apologising. He had underestimated just how far she could go when her status was on the line.

Elsewhere, Ian stood with Owen looking over what needed to be bought for his business. He was counting down the hours for when he would visit Scarlet to make her tea since she wasn’t going to come here anymore.
While he liked their previous arrangement of sitting in his office, Ian liked going to her estate and sitting down for dinner.
"I can place the order for this so you can go meet with your woman. I can tell that you don’t want to be here," Owen said, taking the list from Ian. "When we planned to come here, you said you would find out what happened to Noelle and then leave because you don’t like the town. Now you are less focused on that and more on Scarlet."
Owen started to feel like Ian was giving up on his previous plans now that he had Scarlet. It was nice but all Ian ever spoke of was finding out what happened. He might regret it later if he did not go through with his plans now.
"Nothing has changed," Ian answered. He was still going to find out what happened to Noelle. The only difference was that he had Scarlet in his life now and that wasn’t planned.
"Good. You spoke about her so much in the past that I don’t want you to give up now. That’s a little surprise," Owen said, looking at the door. "Normally, all our early customers are men."
"Make sure she is comfortable. Don’t let the men get near her to send her away. I am going to rest," Ian said, ready to sleep now that his part was done.
Owen started to doubt that she was a customer since she was coming this way and her eyes were set on Ian. This screamed trouble. "Ian, I think this one is here for you. Do you think Monica has turned to other ways to keep an eye on you? Wait no, Monica wouldn’t want another woman near you. This one is pretty."
Ian wasn’t interested nor curious enough to look at the visitor. He had Scarlet so why should he trouble himself with someone else?
"Mr. Kingsley! Might I have a word with you?"
"No, I’m sleepy," Ian replied as he walked away.
