Chapter 213: Chapter 212 - Control

Point-of-View: Aurora Pretorius

"Damn it...it’s no good, I just can’t pull it off," Sighed Fenris in frustration.

"You were pretty close that time, your fur was starting to turn red," I informed him.

"Yeah, but...I could feel it, this sense of feral aggression welling up inside me, growing more and more powerful till it started to overwhelm me. I’ve figured out how to trigger it, but in all likelihood, I won’t be in control when I do," He remarked with a frown.

"Well, that’s why I’m here. If you lose control, I’ll knock you out. That’s also why we’re doing this in broad daylight, when you’re at your weakest," I surmised objectively.

"I know that and all, but still, I don’t want to end up hurting you, you know," He responded with a conflicted look on his face.

"Yeah, your concern is appreciated and all, but I don’t see that happening. And even if it does, since you won’t be in control, it won’t be your fault," I pointed out with a shrug, before adding, "Now, come on, you’ve been at this for days with barely any real progress. I didn’t see it for myself, but if that Crimson Werewolf form is really capable of hurting a Dragon Deity, we can’t afford to keep it off the table."

"I don’t remember a thing about that though, all I remember is getting angry when I thought you’d been killed, then everything turned red, and the next thing I knew, I was waking up in the upper floors of a building, covered in glass cuts," He sighed wistfully.

"Hm, maybe a second opinion will help speed this along. If Inoka gets a feel for what happens when you try to trigger that form, maybe he can figure out how you can transform without losing control," I suggested, after mulling it over.

Maybe we should’ve given that a try right from the start. Oh, well, no point lamenting that. Might as well try it out now. I then began heading for the RVs, to drag him out here.

"Uh, wait, isn’t he busy training Kiyana right now?" Fenris reminded me.

"Yeah, but it should be over by now, or at least close. They usually wrap things up around this time," I recalled, as I continued heading that way, while he followed after me.

"So, what if he says that it’s impossible for me to transform without losing control?" He asked me.

"Hm, in that case, let’s ask him to tinker with your body so that it doesn’t happen," I suggested after thinking it over.

"I’m, uh, not so sure I like that idea."

"You’ll be fine, I’m sure it’ll be safe," I shrugged in response.

"Easy for you to say," He grumbled with a sigh.

"In case you forgot, he’s done it to me, remember when he boosted my sense of smell? It was just a couple of weeks ago," I reminded him, as we reached Inoka’s RV.

"Uh, let’s decide on it if it comes to that," He replied warily.

"Wow, you’re more of a chicken than I thought," I smirked teasingly, as I opened the door and walked in, "Hey, Inoka, we could use your help with-...huh?"

I stared in bemusement as Inoka and Kiyana stared back at me with startled looks on their faces...she was on his lap, and looking at her black lipstick that was smeared around his lips, it was obvious what they’d been doing.

"You couldn’t knock?" He muttered in exasperation, as Kiyana quickly hopped off his lap and they both averted their eyes.

"I-I, uh...sorry!" I blurted out, zipping out of the RV and slamming the door shut, as I felt my face heat up in embarrassment.

Oh my God, is that what their ’training’ has been all this time!?

"Damn, you’re as red as a tomato. Overreaction, much?" Fenris smirked at me.

"Wha-...no, it’s a perfectly reasonable reaction!" I huffed indignantly, before admitting as I glanced away, "I-I mean, I’ve never seen people, you know, doing stuff before, so yeah..."

"Woah, holy crap...that was really cute," He responded, wide-eyed.

"Shut up," I muttered with a strained sigh.

"I mean, after hearing the twins go at it all day almost every day, I’d have thought you’d be less flustered at seeing something like this," He remarked in amusement.

Hearing and seeing are two very different things.

"You’re enjoying this way too much," I grumbled, as the door opened and Kiyana stepped out.

"U-um, hey, you guys...I’ll, uh, I’ll see you later," She mumbled awkwardly, unable to meet our gazes as she hurried off towards her RV.

"Seriously, why does no one here know how to knock?" Sighed Inoka, as he walked out and shut the door.

"W-well, you should’ve locked the door," I huffed in response.

"Alright, picture this, you’re in a guy’s room and he locks the door after you go in. Would you be comfortable with that?" He inquired with a raised eyebrow.

"Ooh, good point, that could totally come off as a red flag," Nodded Fenris in agreement.

"Wait, does that mean you haven’t been doing, uh, that, under the pretense of training this whole time?" I asked him in surprise.

"What? No! It just happened that way today, so you know, thanks for interrupting," He responded dryly.

He seems annoyed.

"You should apologize, cockblocking is one of the worst things you can do to another human being," Fenris whispered to me.

"Exaggerate, much?" I shot back in exasperation, before turning to Inoka, "Sorry, I’ll knock next time."

"Fine, whatever, let’s move past it. So, what did you guys want, anyway?" He inquired, cutting to the chase.

"Well, we wanted your help with Fenris’s training. Basically, what we need you to do is...," I began, before explaining the situation.

"Hm, okay, that should be easy enough," He nodded after I finished explaining, "Alright, no time like the present, let’s get right to it. I’ll hold on to you and activate Synchronicity, and you start transforming whenever you’re ready."

"Uh, okay, got it," Replied Fenris, as Inoka put his hand on his shoulder.

Fenris then transformed into his full Werewolf form, before closing his eyes and focusing. Inoka’s eyebrows furrowed as a slight red hue began to appear across Fenris’s fur, before he closed his eyes too.

The crimson fur began to become more prominent bit by bit...and then suddenly faded, both of them opening their eyes as it did. It’s been like this for days now, he seems to get close and then just stops.

"Alright, I see what you mean. I could feel that aggression welling up uncontrollably, I don’t blame you for cutting it off. Tell me, what’s your mindset when you start the attempt to transform?" Inoka asked Fenris.

"Well, anger triggered it the first time, so I focus on getting angry," He replied with a shrug.

"Hm...okay, let’s try it again a few times, I want to get a better feel for it," Suggested Inoka, after a brief pause.

"Uh, sure, I can do that."

They went through the process five more times, each attempt going exactly how all his previous attempts went.

"I think I got it. The physical process involved in this transformation, that is. You initially put yourself in a state of heightened rage and aggression, I’m guessing you’re doing so by recalling bad memories.

But it’s not actually necessary...because after that, I can feel most your Aura being concentrated on and around your wolf ears and tail, with the rest of your Aura thinly enveloping your entire body. I think that’s the key to triggering this transformation.

So, in other words, try it like this; keep your mind calm, while focusing most of your Aura around your ears and tail, and coat the rest around your body, from head to toe," Surmised Inoka objectively.

"Okay, got it, I’ll try that. But, uh, exactly how much Aura should I be focusing around my ears and tail?" Asked Fenris uncertainly.

"Let’s see...the amount of Aura around your ears and the amount of Aura around your tail felt pretty similar in quantity. It’s a bit tricky to gauge since your Aura capacity is much larger than mine. Let me try replicating that Aura spread across my own body...," He muttered, as he closed his eyes and concentrated. freēwēbnovel.com

Out of curiosity, I used Appraisal on him. Oh, the shape of his suppressed Aura is spreading across his body, most densely around the top of his head and on his lower back.

"Did you figure it out?" I inquired curiously, as he opened his eyes and his Aura went back to normal.

"I think so...okay, try focusing forty percent of your Aura on your tail, then twenty percent on each ear, and then the remaining twenty percent around the rest of your body. Make sure it’s even and stable," Instructed Inoka.

"Uh, alright, I’ll give it a try. Here goes nothing...," Muttered Fenris, as he closed his eyes and focused...
