Chapter 179: Chapter 178 - Deity
Point-of-View: Aurora Pretorius

What the...? My Shadow Cat, it’s fading...the moment I grabbed Bastet’s wrist, my shroud around my hand dissipated. But how?
"Hm? A human? What unusual speed," He remarked, as I tightened my grip with a grimace.
There’s absolutely no way I can defeat him...he’s way too powerful, and it looks like the Dark Skill has absolutely no effect on him. This is really bad. I need to de-escalate this situation.
He’s clearly got a distaste for Demons, maybe I can use that to our favor...
"Listen, please hear us out, he didn’t destroy your pyramid just for the sake of it...we were fighting these Demons, and obviously, they’re much stronger than we are, so the thing with the pyramid was a move based on desperation to win and survive," I reasoned, as I let go of his wrist and backed away with my arms raised.
"Yeah, that’s right, and she’s the one who brought the Demons here in the first place!" Added Neo with a nod, as he gestured to Liling.
"You know, I gotta say, this face reveal hasn’t gone anything like I hoped it would, way to steal my thunder," She sighed despondently.
I can’t believe it was her all along...but with the current situation, I can’t afford to get hung up on her, we need to make sure this Deity knows that we’re not his enemies. We can deal with Liling, or rather, Anarchy later.
As Bastet paused to mull over what we’d said, I noticed portals opening up beneath the Chaos members, including one beneath the rubble which Dracula was buried under.
The instant one opened beneath Liling, Bastet swiftly shot forward and grabbed her by the throat, before she could drop down into the portal.
"Where do you think you are going? Is it true, are you responsible for bringing these vile creatures to this place?" He inquired coldly.
Uh, is he referring to the Demons, the Monsters, or all of us in general?
"How dare you...a mere minor Deity such as yourself, you dare suggest that we are beneath you!?" Snapped Lucifer, as he shot towards him.
Oh, guess he already healed his crushed head. He sure doesn’t stay down for long, that’s for sure.
As Bastet let out an exasperated sigh and began to raise his hand towards Lucifer, I shot towards the Demon as he closed in, swinging my arm across in his direction as I rapidly expanded the hand of my Shadow Cat.
It slammed onto him with immense force as he failed to get out of the way in time, eliciting a winded gasp from him and sending him rapidly flying back at a breakneck speed as I chased after him at top speed, firing out sharp, narrow Negative Blast projectiles at him.
"You will not get in my way again, human!" He snapped, as he slammed his feet into the sand to halt himself, before firing out his own Negative Blasts to cancel mine out.
He then formed a massive ball of swirling black flames and took aim at me, before letting out a startled cry as something struck his back, the flames dissipating.
"Hey, remember me?" Smirked Fenris, several meters behind him, his claws glowing...he must have fired out that slashing attack of his.
He then swung both arm out, sending more slashing waves zipping towards Lucifer, who put up a wall of water to absorb the attack, right as I closed in on him from up front.
I slashed my shadowy claws at him, tearing open his chest as he tilted his head back, as Fenris shot towards him from behind.
"I should have killed you both a long time ago...now, to rectify that mistake!" Exclaimed Lucifer, as he burst out a sharp, powerful shockwave of black flames and wind, sending both of us flying back with several painful burns.
He then zipped towards me with a murderous glint in his eyes...when suddenly, a portal opened up right in front of him and he flew into in before he could halt, the portal swiftly shutting.
That was too fast to be one of Neo’s portals...it must have been Chaos’s portal user instead, looks like they’re making a full retreat.
I then glanced back, to see Bastet still having Liling is his grasp, his hand tightly gripped around her neck.
"Fascinating...I did not think humans could acquire this level of power. That Werewolf is unusually powerful as well," Mused Bastet, as I walked over.
"Anyway, uh...like I said, we mean you no harm, we don’t want to fight you," I remarked, as I approached him.
"Yes, I do not sense any deceit in your words. I suppose killing this one will be adequate," He responded, as he turned his gaze back to Liling, who seemed eerily calm, "Speak your last words, ally of Demons."
"I’ve just got two words to say...," She replied with a slight smirk, as she suddenly formed a strange sphere in her hands, "Chaos Blast!"
My blood immediately ran cold, as I sprang back in alarm while rapidly extending out my Shadow Cat arm towards Neo, grabbing him and flinging him away as far as I could, my instincts screaming at me.
That sphere is really bad news, and it looks like Bastet has sensed it too...he let go of Liling and backed away several meters in a hurry, as she fired out wind blasts from the soles of her feet to propel herself away as she unleashed the sphere.
It was hard to describe, it was like it was bright and dark at the same time...the sphere then exploded, erasing everything in the radius of the blast, turning the sand below to nothing.
"Whew, that was a close one," Laughed Liling, as a portal began to swallow her up, forming another of those blasts in front of herself to keep us from getting close.
"Not so fast, Anti-Teleportation Field-...huh? It’s not working?" Frowned Neo, as he tried to stop her.
"Yeah, sorry, my guy created a technique to counter that," Smirked Liling in response.
"Hey, wait!" Exclaimed Inoka, as he shot towards her.
"No can do, sorry...and for what it’s worth, I’m gonna miss you. Till next time," Remarked Liling as she met his gaze with a smirk and a hint of conflict in her eyes, as the portal swallowed her up and then closed, the blast she’d formed dissipating.
"I...I can’t believe it. All this time, Liling was Anarchy?" Spoke up Kiyana, following a brief silence.
"It appears so...I can hardly believe it myself, but it does explain a lot," Added Neo grimly.
He’s right...she was highly trusted among the higher ups, that explains how Chaos constantly had access to information about Harmony. It also explains how the whole Meta-Orb incident came to pass in the first place...she must have informed Eden of where the Meta-Orbs were being held.
It also explains the listening device in the RV...she was there pretty often, she’d have had plenty of opportunities to plant the device there.
"Man, is that what she’s really like? She seemed so different, she was usually always so smiley and stuff. Honestly, it was kinda hot," Chimed in Fenris, who didn’t look as shell-shocked as the rest.
Makes sense, he hasn’t really known her for that long in comparison to the others.
"Ahem...do you know where that human resides?" Suddenly inquired Bastet, a sour look on his face...he probably isn’t happy that she managed to escape, despite having her firmly in his grasp.
"If we knew that, we’d have attacked them a long time ago," Sighed Neo in response.
"So, uh, can we go now? You don’t have any problem with us, do you?" I asked the Deity warily.
"Well, regardless of the circumstances, this one did destroy the place of my residence...I shall require compensation," He replied, after mulling it over.
"What kind of compensation?" Responded Neo dubiously.
"The Demons are once again invading this world, and there is a faction of Meta-Humans working with those foul creatures...this cannot be allowed. Therefore, I shall accompany you. When you locate them, you will inform me of it, I shall destroy them," Stated Bastet with a dark look in his eyes.
"Uh, that’s fine...except for the part about accompanying us. We could always just come here and let you know when we find something," Suggested Neo guardedly.
"Ordinarily, yes...however, after what you did, I cannot stay here, and I have nowhere else to go. Additionally, this one fascinates me, I wish to observe her further," Remarked Bastet, eyeing me curiously.
Huh? I’m, uh, not sure how to feel about that.
"Wha-...hey, nuh-uh, I saw her first, I called dibs!" Protested Fenris immediately.
"You’re not helping," I groaned in exasperation.
"Oh, not to worry...you fascinate me as well, Werewolf. I am usually rather averse to dogs, but your scent is rather unique," Replied Bastet with an intrigued look on his face.
"Uh, I don’t know about this...," Frowned Neo skeptically.
"Hey, think about it, having a Deity on our side would make a huge difference, especially if even more Demons enter the mix," Pointed out Inoka quietly.
"Gotta agree with that, as things stand, we’re left relying too heavily on Aurora, Inoka and Fenris," Nodded Mike in agreement.
"I’ll say. If it wasn’t for this guy, that Asmodeus creep would’ve killed us for sure," Added Leonardo, as he patted Inoka’s shoulder.
"...alright, fine, whatever," Relented Neo with a reluctant sigh.
Well, things just got a whole lot more interesting...never thought I’d ever meet an actual Deity, but here we are, I guess...
