Chapter 166: Chapter 165 - In The Heart of Eden(Part 12)

Point-of-View: Neo Cronje

———————————————————————————

Hm...almost everyone’s arrived now, excluding those who’ve been confirmed as killed. Only two left to arrive...Viktor and Ravi. That’s unusual, normally those two would’ve been among the first to arrive, and then disdainfully criticize anyone who arrived after them for being too slow.

Aurora and Mike informed me that they’d come across those two in not the best shape, with Ravi having lost an arm. Could they have been killed?

They may be assholes, but they’re both pretty powerful, it’s kinda difficult to believe that they were both defeated in battle, especially while they were together.

Based on what everyone who’s arrived has said, we can confirm that eight of Eden’s Category 0s have been killed. As for us, we’ve suffered some casualties among the Category 1s and 2s I brought in as back up, as well as Francesca, with Liling only barely surviving as Inoka came across her before it was too late.

The confusion and panic we ignited among the Eden members in this place made things easy, allowing us to mow most of them down before they could compose themselves. From what I’m hearing from the others, very few of the enemies actually put up a decent fight.

I’d like to think that I put together a pretty well-suited team for this operation. Besides the Category 0s, I made sure to assemble those of our members who have experience with missions where sneaking around is crucial, that was probably a significant factor too.

In a head-on battle with these numbers, we’d have probably suffered a lot more casualties, we might have even lost...but with the element of surprise, along with those who are experienced in these situations, this turned out to be ridiculously easy, considering the numbers disadvantage we were at.

Alright, it’s been long enough, I’m going to go find them. Fortunately, before we left, I had everyone send me their live locations and I asked them to keep it active.

Let’s have a look...okay, both Ravi and Viktor, or at least, their phones are both in the same location, but they aren’t moving...could they really be dead, after all? freёwebnoѵel.com

"Stay put for a bit, everyone, I’ll go see what’s going on with Ravi and Viktor," I remarked, as I opened a portal.

"Wait, hold on, how do you know where they are?" Inoka asked me, narrowing his eyes suspiciously.

"Because of this, remember?" I showed him the tracking app.

"...okay, so why didn’t you just use your portals to pick us up instead of making us come all the way down here?" He inquired with a grumble.

"Because, as I’ve said many times before...I’m not a taxi," I huffed in response, before walking through the portal.

Oh...okay, so they’re both very dead. Huh.

Were they outnumbered, maybe? From what we know, Eden had a total of ten Category 0s...eight of them have been confirmed dead today, maybe the two that are unaccounted for are the ones who did this?

There’s also one Outlier who’s unaccounted for, the former pop star, Luna Castillo. Though, according to X, she’s still around low-Category 1 level, which wouldn’t have been much of a threat for these two.

Through interrogating the stray Eden members that we captured before this attack, we found out more about the Category 0s we knew little about.

Funnily enough, the eight 0s that we’ve confirmed dead are all the ones whom we’d already known about even before the interrogation.

As for the remaining two, one is named Arisu Kimura, she’s probably the one we saw fighting Aurora back in Namibia. The other one, however...seems to have been kept a secret from most of Eden’s members.

None of the ones we captured and interrogated even knew what their name was, but most of them assumed that this is the one who has the Dark Skill technique Condition.

Is this person really so valuable to Eden that they decided to keep them a secret even from most of their own members? If so, it’s troubling that they’re unaccounted for.

We know nothing about them, not their appearance, name, abilities aside from the Condition technique, not even their gender.

Alright, I guess we’re done here. I should retrieve these two’s bodies and take them back, leave with the others, and then once I pick a small group to help with collapsing this building, return to destroy it and then leave for good.

I opened up a portal beneath their corpses and dropped them through, into the hidden base where the higher ups are. I should send them a text, letting them know that these two died in battle.

Oh, right, I should probably go retrieve Francesca’s body too. As for the dozen or so Category 1s that died...eh, I can’t be bothered, too much work.

I then opened up Francesca’s location to track her and opened a portal, walking through it and emerging by her corpse. Blood had poured out of her mouth, Liling said that her heart had been crushed.

This must be her opponent, torn in half...I recognize her, I’ve fought her before, a few years ago, she was a troublesome opponent. If I remember right, her name’s Maya Greene.

Her abilities were actually a bad match up for Francesca, I’m impressed that Francesca still managed to kill her-...hm?

The room up ahead, the door’s been destroyed, and everyone inside has been killed. I dropped Francesca’s body through a portal, before heading towards that room suspiciously.

Something’s off here...it’s a dead end, which means that Liling and Francesca came from the other direction. Maya was probably guarding this room. And since Francesca was killed and Liling was in bad shape, who could have done this?

What is this room, anyway? There’s a bunch of monitors and CPUs, but they’ve all been destroyed, and recently, at that.

Oh, wait, I was wrong, not everyone here is dead...one of them just seems to be unconscious. But why?

He might be worth interrogating later...I sent another text to the higher ups to inform them that I was sending an Eden member there for questioning, before opening up a portal beneath him.

I then let out a sigh as I looked around...who exactly did this, anyway? Let’s try and analyze this...like I surmised before, it’s very likely that Maya had been guarding this door, and ended up fighting Liling and Francesca when they happened to show up here.

But Liling was left in dire straits after that, and Frascesca had been killed. Maybe someone else on our side came over here and did this? But then, why destroy the computers?

A double agent for Chaos, maybe? In which case, asking the others if they came by this area would be pointless, the culprit could just lie.

Alternatively, someone from Eden might have done this...maybe this room held sensitive information, and that’s why the computers were destroyed, along with the people in here because they might have that same knowledge?

No, if that was the case, why spare one of them? What exactly am I missing here? I’m not seeing the full picture, and even if I do come to the right conclusion, I won’t have any way of proving it.

What a pain...hopefully, interrogating that survivor will give us the answers I’m looking for here. For right now, though...I should get back to the others and leave. We need to wrap this up already...

Point-of-View: Anarchy/Liling Jin

———————————————————————————

This was pretty fun...but sadly, this’ll probably be my last mission with Harmony. I’ve maintained my cover for long enough...it won’t be much longer now before I reveal myself as Anarchy.

I wonder, how will they all react? Do any of them suspect me at all?

Hm, I suppose I need to decide when and how to make the revelation. They’ll find out on their own once Inoka uses Dispel on the captives they’ve been holding for all this time-...hm, but, you know what, that’s kinda boring.

I’ll have Chaos attack the base where they’re being held and then kill them. After that, I’ll come up with a fun, grand way to reveal my identity.

Hm, I have to say, Neo’s taking quite a while...oh, right, he probably went to where Francesca is too-...oh, crap.

The guy I spared, if they interrogate him and he gives them my physical description, that’ll reveal my identity too...assuming that Neo took him in as a captive, I should find out where he’s being held and kill him too.

I feel kinda bad, I did say I’d spare him, after all...hm, maybe I’ll drop him off in some obscure town or village somewhere, a place where he won’t easily be found.

Yeah, I’ll do that, I don’t want to be a liar, at least not a big one...it’s not like I’m taking lying off the table, that’d deprive me of a lot of fun options. ƒreewebηoveℓ.com

But I’ll limit myself to small, white lies and lies for the sake of misdirection and stuff, I’ll try to avoid full on, bold faced lies. Yup, that sounds good. I should get in touch with Glenn and some of my double agents in the Harmony bases once this mission is over, and then I’ll get to work...
