Chapter 157: Chapter 156 - In The Heart of Eden(Part 3)

Point-of-View: Arisu Kimura

———————————————————————————

Uh-oh...this is really bad, I’m up against two of Harmony’s Category 0s, and both highly experienced ones at that. Viktor Gusev and Ravi Iyengar, from what I’ve heard, they’ve been a thorn in Eden’s side for a couple of decades or so.

The former has the Dark, Electro and Physical Skills, while the latter has the Terra, Aqua and Physical Skills. Despite only having three Skills each, they’re both extremely skilled at using their powers.

Defeating them alone won’t be easy by any stretch of the imagination, especially considering the trail of dozens of Eden Meta-Human bodies littering the corridor behind them, the stench of blood heavy in the air.

"Only one left in this area, it would seem," Remarked Viktor icily, as he formed a bolt of powerful black lightning.

"Okay, then I will go and look in another area, you can catch up after you kill this one. Her Aura is quite immense, so maybe she is a Category 0," Replied Ravi, as he turned around and began to walk away.

Tch...don’t underestimate me, you old farts! I shot forward and pressed my palms together, firing out a Negative Slash at Viktor, who swiftly evaded in response, before I closed in on him and unleashed a shockwave of wind, knocking him off-balance before blasting out a Negative Blast at Ravi from behind.

Without turning around, he raised a wall of earth to block my blast, before the wall crumbled and formed several sharp projectiles that burst out towards me.

I quickly countered with several Wind Bullets, wincing as one of the projectiles gashed my right shoulder, leaping forward and flying up as Viktor burst out several streaks of black lightning in my direction, narrowly avoiding getting struck, before closing in on Ravi.

He swiftly spun around with a swirling water blast in his hands, driving it towards the left side of my head.

I managed to grab hold of his face right as his water attack began to close in, and activated the Aero Skill technique Asphyxiate, eliciting a sharp gasp from him as I sucked the air out of his throat and lungs, the shock causing his water attack to dissipate, but his palm still struck the side of my head and dazed me, my grip on his face weakening as a result.

Before I could regain my grasp, he slammed his knee onto my midsection and sent me flying back, earth spikes forming on the ground by where I was about to land.

I quickly used Flight to halt myself in midair, the tip of one of the spikes piercing into my upper back, right before a black lightning blast struck me painfully and sent me crashing onto a wall, dislocating my left shoulder as I slumped to the ground.

As I began to get back up, I let out a scream of pain as earth spikes burst up beneath both my feet, piercing through them agonizingly and causing my knees to buckle.

Ravi then approached me with an enraged look on his face, coughing hoarsely as he rubbed his throat gingerly...damn it, fighting in these narrow corridors is too difficult, let alone against two of the most experienced active Category 0s.

I can’t defeat them, I need to escape...fortunately, I know the structure and layout of this place way better than they do. I’ll have to use that to my advantage and get away before they can kill me. frёewebnoѵēl.com

"Prepare to die, bitch," Growled Ravi, as he formed a swirling water drill and drew back his arm, aiming to pierce my chest with it.

Right as he got within a couple of meters of me, I blasted out sharp, powerful wind blasts from the soles of my feet, which tore through my shoes and collapsed the ground beneath me, the spikes piercing into my feet breaking apart.

I then slammed my palms together with a loud clap and fired out several Negative Slashes as I plummeted through the ground, a cry of pain ringing out as I fell in.

I caught a flash of blood splattering onto the ground as I plunged into the opening...did I manage to hit one of them? Hope that buys me a bit of extra time to get away!

Without wasting a second, I then flew across as fast as I could, before they could drop down after me...there’s a secret exit not too far from here, I need to get there before they can catch up with me!

"Did you hear that?" I frowned, as my ears twitched.

"Hm? Hear what?" Responded Mike uncertainly, as he turned his ears forward with his hands. freeωebnovēl.c૦m

It sounded like an explosion or something...

"This way, come on!" I exclaimed, as I raced in the direction it came from, forming my Shadow Cat arm and using it to cut straight through the walls in that direction.

Mike followed after me, and it wasn’t long before we came across a corridor littered with corpses, and further up ahead...ugh, were the two old, annoying Category 0s.

Oh, but the Indian guy was on his knees, clutching his right shoulder in agony, his arm severed and blood gushing out from it.

There was a hole in the ground, and some blood splatter on some of the broken chunks of concrete around it.

"Oh, it’s Viktor and Ravi. Hey, what happened here?" Inquired Mike with a frown.

Ah, right, that’s what their names were.

"One of them managed to get away...likely a Category 0, a young woman with long black hair," Replied Viktor, as Ravi formed a block of ice around the stump of his arm to stop the bleeding, looking pale and light-headed from the blood loss.

A young woman with long black hair, huh? That sounds like the one who was in charge of the people who attacked me in Namibia...I felt the urge to jump in and follow after her, but that would probably be futile.

Based on how much blood Ravi had lost, and the amount of time since I heard that loud crash, she’s probably long gone already.

"Come on, let’s go, there’s no point in sticking around here," I said to Mike, who nodded after a brief pause, and the two of us headed away.

Neither of us are healers, and honestly, even if I could heal, I probably wouldn’t have bothered wasting my Aura healing that asshole.

"You sure look grumpy," Noticed Mike, as we headed up some stairs.

"Those guys just piss me off...well, at least they were useful and killed a ton of Eden’s Meta-Humans," I replied with a grumble.

"Well, most older be people tend to be kinda close-minded and wary of change, and with Meta-Humans, things have been more or less then same for centuries, so they’re having trouble accepting everything that’s happened lately," He reasoned in response.

"Yeah, well, I say that doesn’t excuse them for being total dickbags."

"Wow, Inoka and the others have really influenced your vocabulary, haven’t they? And I wasn’t trying to excuse or justify their behavior, just explain it," He informed me, before halting as footsteps echoed out from up ahead.

What the...?

"Weird, these footsteps sound like they’re being caused by someone or something really huge," I frowned warily.

"Huh? What do you-...oh," He responded, as a figure came into view.

It was a massive man, at least seven feet tall, and extremely bulky, with a large axe on his back. He had short black hair, and thick facial hair, with a scarred, blinded right eye and black left eye.

"Hm? Who the hell are you people?" He frowned as he narrowed his eyes at us, before drawing his axe, "I don’t recognize you, so you must be enemies. I see, that must be what all the commotion is about."

Huh? Aren’t there a few thousand people here, is he seriously attacking us solely on the basis that he doesn’t recognize us?

"Careful...he’s John Therr, a Category 0 with absolutely ridiculous physical strength," Mike warned me warily.

"In that case, let’s finish this quickly," I responded, as I swiftly formed my Shadow Cat arm and sent it rapidly extending out towards him with the claws poised to strike.

Without moving, he raised several earth walls between us to slow down my shadowy arm, before lifting his axe up high, the veins on his arm popping as he tightened his grip on it.

Uh-oh...I quickly drew back my arm and formed a shadowy dome around Mike and me as quickly as possible, right as he let out a grunt and swung the axe down with immense force.

The impact shook the area as a deafening crash echoed out, the sheer force bursting out a shockwave and rattling my bones, as I felt the ground collapsing beneath me rapidly...
