Chapter 141: Chapter 140 - Renewed Determination
Point-of-View: Inoka Fonseka

"Hey, calm down and relax, dude, you’re being way too restless," I said to Dieter, who was pacing around with an anxious look on his face.
It’s the 11th of July, a day later. Dieter had been desperate to go to the Ukrainian Eden base where the Outliers were supposedly being held right away, but naturally, Harmony was going to be a lot more cautious about it.
It was currently 5 PM, and about an hour ago, Neo had set out with a few other Category 0s to the location. Dieter had wanted to tag along too, but naturally, they refused to let him go.
That woman, X, was still fast asleep...she’d passed out shortly after I healed her, and had been deep asleep ever since. Not long after, Neo had brought two more RVs, for her and Fenris, and she was currently passed out in hers.
I was outside right now, taking a break from working on my Augmentation technique. I’d figured out that I could also use it to damage an opponent, like use it upon them to twist their organs or have their bones pierce vital spots...but to make that work in practical use, I need to be able to activate it in an instant.
At my current level of mastery over this technique, it takes a while when using it on another person. But when I use it on myself, it’s much faster. If I can master it well enough to activate it as fast on another as I can on myself, I call kill someone just by touching them for, like, a second.
Anyway, I was currently hanging around Dieter, who looked like he was on the verge of a nervous breakdown. I have nothing but negative feelings towards my own family, so I can’t exactly relate, but I do sympathize with him.
As for the others, Aurora and Alexis were with Kiyana in her RV, since Alexis randomly decided that she wanted to do girl stuff. Heh, I’m totally picturing them doing something dirty in there.
Zoraiz had asked Fenris to help him train, which the latter was happy to oblige with. He really is extremely powerful, much more than any of the Werewolves that we encountered in Hungary.
As his power restrictions work a bit differently too. Normally, when Werewolves transform during the day, they can only access a third of their maximum power, which is comparable to an average Category 1 or 2.
And at night, they access two-thirds of their full power, putting them slightly above the average Category 0. And during full moons, when they can access the entirety of their power, they’re not too far below twice as strong as an average Category 0.
But Fenris is different...transforming during the day lets him access half his full power, which is about the same as a normal Werewolf at full power. And during night-time, transforming gives him access to three quarters of his full power.
And during full moons, with his full power available to him, he’s even more powerful than Aurora, physically speaking, anyway. Her Shadow Cat technique gives her the edge, but in a solely physical fight with no powers, he’s a small bit stronger.
After he explained all that to us, Zoraiz wasted no time in making his request to train, so yeah. They’d been at it for a couple of hours, I bet Zoraiz is getting his ass kicked right about now. He’s incredibly good at evasion, but with such a significant difference in speed and strength, I doubt he’s dodging with too much success.
Hm...I should probably ask Fenris to train me too. It’d definitely be useful to get used to going up against that level of speed and strength. We’ve been training with Aurora too, but a bit more variety with opponents of that level will definitely make a difference.
"Damn it...what’s taking them so long? Do you think something went wrong? What if they were discovered and Eden responded by holding the Outliers hostage, and then things got ugly? Or what if-?" Frowned Dieter nervously.
"Hey, relax, overthinking and speculating baselessly isn’t going to help right now. Just calm down and clear your mind, try to distract yourself," I advised him, but he was barely even listening.
"Why’d they wait a whole day anyway, they should’ve gone there right away...and if they were too scared, they could’ve just sent me!" He snapped in frustration, kicking at a flower as he continued to pace around anxiously.
It’s no use, he isn’t going to ease up or calm down until Neo gets back...I really do hope that the operation turns out to be a success, because I can only imagine how he’ll react if it turns out to be a failure.
I then glanced towards the woods as I heard the bushes rustling, before Zoraiz and Fenris emerged. Zoraiz looked completely beat, with bruises all over his body and a weary look in his eyes, while Fenris looked like he’d barely even broken a sweat.
Yeah, guess their training session went more or less exactly how I’d imagined it would. Zoraiz spotted and walked over towards me, flopping onto the grass beside me with a wince of pain as his body stiffened slightly.
"I need healing...," He groaned, tugging on my sleeve.
"Yeah, I can see that," I responded with a wry smile, as I placed my hand on his chest and began healing him.
"Sorry I got a bit rough, you kept dodging me at the start and that kinda ticked me off, so I ended up taking it a bit too seriously without meaning to," Grinned Fenris sheepishly. freewёbn૦νeɭ.com
"Nah, it’s cool...it wouldn’t have made for good training if you’d held back too much," Responded Zoraiz with a wave of his hand, before sitting up with a sigh of relief as I finished healing him, "Thanks a lot, man, that’s much better."
"Sure, don’t mention it," I replied with a thumbs up.
"What’s with the kid?" Inquired Fenris curiously, nodding at Dieter, who was still pacing around.
"Well, uh-...," I began, before trailing off as a portal opened ahead of us, "Oh, looks like they’re finally back."
Mike stepped out of the portal, before Neo followed after him, the portal shutting as he stepped out.
"Neo! Did you find her!? Where’s my sister!? What happened there!?" Exclaimed Dieter, rushing towards him and grabbing his sleeves with a desperately hopeful look on his face.
"I-...sorry, kid. We were too late, that base was already deserted. We did find the underground cells that X mentioned, but...they were all already empty. But...we did find this on the floor, just outside one of the cells," Responded Neo with a grimace, as he held up a pendant.
It had a red jewel in it, identical to the green one that Dieter always wore. The chain was broken, and a bit dusty. He said they found it outside a cell...maybe it broke while Dieter’s sister was being taken away, she might have resisted, and during the struggle, the chain broke...or something like that.
"H-huh? You mean...it was no use? You were...too late?" Muttered Dieter in disbelief, as he collapsed onto his knees.
"I’m afraid so...but based on the condition that the place was in, it was definitely abandoned at least a day ago, so even if we had gone there yesterday, it probably would’ve been too late anyway. It’s likely that they decided to move the Outliers almost immediately after X escaped them," Explained Neo.
"N-no...does this mean that I’ll...that I’ll never see my sister again?" Responded Dieter, his voice breaking as his shoulders began trembling. frёewebηovel.cѳm
"Of course that’s not the case...once you master Thought Communication, you’ll have a chance. That technique gives both users a vague sense of the distance and direction that the other person is in. And that vague sense becomes more and more accurate the more you close the distance between you and the other person. It might take a lot of trial and error before we pinpoint the location that way, but it’s definitely possible," Neo reminded him, placing a hand on his shoulder.
Right then, an idea struck me like a bolt of lightning...
"Actually, the trial and error may not be necessary...hear me out, what if I use Synchronicity to connect what Dieter’s sensing to you? With that, maybe you could pinpoint the location with your portals immediately," I suggested with a grin.
"Huh...you know, what, that could work. My portal technique requires me to be highly attuned to exactly how coordinates are spread out across the planet, with high levels of precision and accuracy. So, yeah...it’s definitely possible," Nodded Neo, his eyes widening.
"Hear that, dude?" I grinned, as I patted Dieter’s head, "Once you master Thought Communication, there’s a good chance that you’ll be able to find your sister right away!"
"So, then...it’s upto me?"
"Yeah, exactly so. You’re the only one who can pull this off," I remarked honestly...after all, Thought Communication apparently requires the user to clearly imagine the other person in detail, so in this case, he’s the only one who can find his sister.
"I’m impressed...this is a great idea, and compatability won’t be a problem since he and I are both Space Skill users," Nodded Neo in approval.
"I don’t really get what’s going on, exactly, but good luck to all involved," Grinned Fenris with a thumbs up.
"Alright, then...I need to hurry up and master Thought Communication as fast as possible," Dieter said to himself, a renewed look of determination in his eyes...
