Chapter 100: Chapter 70: Masters and Disciples
Kate let out a "What the fuck?!", startling Elvire and the others.
Elise chided irritably, "Don’t scream like that, Mr. Light Attendant."
Kate, realizing he’d overreacted, cleared his throat. "Sorry," he said coolly, "I lost my composure."
The Bell Ringer was unfazed. "I’m used to it. Just don’t do it in my ear next time."
Kate: "Heh."
’Did this guy think I *wanted* to yell?’
’I didn’t want to.’
’But I couldn’t control it.’
Everyone had a different initial reaction to hearing that Carl Black was about to appear.
Elise was stunned for a moment. "Huh?"
’Is this for real?’
The Bell Ringer snapped his head up, his face filled with joy, yet that joy was tinged with a hint of doubt.
’Is Lord Blake really still alive?’
Elvire, however, frowned. She was clearly skeptical of the news. After all, it had been over a month since they had last "woken" Blake, and the statue had been silent ever since. Those who had first heard the news, like the Bell Ringer, were starting to think it had all been a hallucination.
Now that Blake had suddenly been "resurrected," she couldn’t help but wonder if Sean was just making things up, using the topic as an excuse to get material from her.
Deep down, Elvire actually wanted to believe Sean; as far as she could remember, he had never lied to her. ’But is Sean really that close with Blake? Why would Blake send a dream message to Sean?’
’I’m Blake’s sister-in-law. If he was going to send a message, shouldn’t he have sent it to me?’
All in all, it was highly suspicious.
Only Kate believed it without a shadow of a doubt.
He had already carried out a task for Lord Blake, so he knew Lord Blake was truly still alive. He also knew that Sean, like himself, was someone valued by Lord Blake. Therefore, Sean wouldn’t lie, and he certainly wouldn’t dare impersonate Lord Blake. This had to be real.
Koni, meanwhile, stole a glance at Sean before lowering her head again.
’Most people borrow the might of others to throw their weight around,’ she thought, ’but Sean is "impersonating" himself.’
’So this is the kind of thing Lord Blake is into.’
"Alright, alright, I’m hungry. Let’s go get something to eat." Having announced his own "resurrection," Sean prepared to slip away, not giving Elvire and the others a chance to grill him for details.
He gave Kate a meaningful look. Kate immediately understood, grabbed Sean, and started to leave. "Let’s go," he said. "I know a great place. To celebrate Lord Blake’s awakening, we’ll eat well tonight!"
At the mention of good food, Koni’s eyes lit up. She could faintly feel her stomach rumbling.
Like Sean, she and her teacher had only had afternoon tea before coming to the church to help Sean with his dream-weaving. They were long past hungry by now.
But who was Kate?
A big boss who ran several companies, he was an expert at reading people. Koni was still hesitating, wondering how to convince her teacher to tag along for a free meal, but before she could even say a word, Kate, who had caught her change in expression from the corner of his eye, said, "I’m only treating Sean. The rest of you can get lost. Don’t bother us."
Koni: "..."
’So mean.’
Kate’s words weren’t aimed just at Koni. He was a very fair person, equally hostile to everyone present.
When the Bell Ringer, with whom he was privately on good terms, tried to follow, Kate practically kicked him away.
The Bell Ringer was completely baffled.
’This guy... does he think that because Lord Blake sent Sean a dream message, there must be a deep connection between them, and now he wants to use Sean to get closer to Lord Blake?’
’That son of a bitch!’
’Businessmen really are a cunning bunch.’
Elvire and Elise were helpless against Sean and Kate. One wanted to eat, the other wanted to treat. They couldn’t very well stop the two by force. Besides, their attention was now focused on Blake. If Sean wasn’t joking, and Blake really was going to contact everyone again through the statue to prove he wasn’t dead, then the whole of Alola Town was about to get very lively.
Elise asked tentatively, "Why don’t you send him a text? Beat around the bush a little?"
Elvire wanted to, but she had her pride, didn’t she?
When two people were giving each other the silent treatment, the first one to speak was the one who "yielded." And once you yielded, you’d do it a second time. Then Sean would become even more brazen. She refused to spoil Sean the way her sister had spoiled Blake.
...Wait, that’s not right.
Elvire suddenly realized that she and that guy weren’t even in a relationship. Nothing had even started between them. ’Why am I overthinking this so much?’
Anyway, the event was in a few days. She’d find out what was really going on then.
Elvire suppressed her curiosity and decided to hold it in for now.
"I’m going back. If you want a late-night snack, go by yourselves."
With that, Elvire turned and left the Confession Room.
"We should go too. We still need to find a hotel," Sopea said to Koni.
His original plan was to return to Krim State with Koni tonight. When the Wizard event in Alola Town started, Koni could come back and participate on her own if she wanted. He himself had no interest in such things—fishing, cooking, balls... In Sopea’s opinion, none of it was better than reading a book in the Holy Temple Library in the Void Technique Space. freewebnøvel.com
’What?’
’Lots of Wizards can’t get in?’
’What’s that got to do with me?’
’They should reflect on their own shortcomings.’
’After all these years, they should ask themselves if they’ve ever really tried.’
Koni put on a pitiful expression and asked Sopea, "Teacher, can we get something to eat before we rest?"
Sean and Kate had already left. Sopea’s face instantly turned stern. "Has your Magic Power increased recently? If not, why aren’t you taking advantage of being hungry to find a place for Meditation? At your age, if you’re not studying hard, how can you have the appetite to eat or the peace of mind to sleep?"
