Chapter 129: The way to a man’s heart
Yan Jia replied, "Then tell me what is wrong otherwise, I will go and ask him"
Li Jun sighed and said, "He knows," before biting his lower lip, feeling a little nervous.
She sat down opposite him and leaned forward while asking, "Did he say that?"
"No, but it was what he said. He knows... I am sure of it," he replied while frustratedly ruffling his hair. Yan Jia looked at this version of Li Jun and felt helpless. She had never seen Li Jun driven this much to madness by anyone.
Even when they hated each other, Li Jun was driven insane by Yu Wen. In other words, this was the longest relationship he had with someone he didn’t consider family. Yu Wen was a constant in his life. The only thing that changed was their relationship.
Yan Jia didn’t like Yu Wen. That was no secret. In fact, she held everything he had done to Li Jun in the past over his head. She wanted him to pay for all of it. Maybe this was his method of paying back for his sins in the past. Falling in love with Li Jun was probably his divine punishment. Yes, she knew. Li Jun didn’t tell her, but Yu Xuan couldn’t keep his mouth shut.
"If you want to leave, then we can leave, but if you want to stay, we can stay. I will support whatever decision you make," she said.
Li Jun sighed and said, "Ahhh, I want chicken. Sister Jia lets have chicken and beer."
Yan Jia, "..."
Weren’t they discussing an important subject just now? Why did the topic shift to food? Yan Jia said, "Where am I going to get that?"
"Sister Jia, go ask the General. He owes me anyway," he said, and Yan Jia, hearing that there was a chance to mess with Yu Wen, she was more than happy to cause trouble. She was like a mother going to blackmail the man who got her precious child pregnant. She was thinking Yu Wen made Li Jun this way, so you better get him chicken.
Li Jun didn’t really want it. He just wanted Yan Jia to blow off some steam. If she kept it bottled up, she might explode. It was better to let her vent, and she absolutely took that opportunity. She even went as far as to say that Li Jun wanted it personally prepared by him.
Yu Wen, who had barely sat down, didn’t hesitate. Alex tried to convince him to have someone make it, but Yu Wen refused. He would rather have the chef tell him what to do than have him make it. He even called his mother, and Lu Anu, who was watching her rom-com, was more than happy to pause her show.
A cut and burnt finger later, Yu Wen made fairly acceptable braised chicken. He wanted to take it to Li Jun by himself, but Yan Jia refused. She said she would take it to him. Yu Wen wasn’t at all upset. He was just hoping that this would score him some points in Li Jun’s heart.
He would go hunting right now if Li Yu wanted him to. No request was excessive for him. Li Jun, on the other hand, was just thinking about his conversation with Yu Wen. He was tossing and turning on the bed that felt rather uneasy.
Li Jun was thinking that Yu Wen’s bed wasn’t this uncomfortable. Why was his different? Li Jun didn’t realize that the bed was the same. The only reason it felt comfortable was because he was sleeping with Yu Wen. He would find any bed comfortable as long as Yu Wen was lying beside him.
While he was shuffling again, looking for a comfortable spot, the savory and buttery smell of roasted chicken wafted into his nose. His eyes opened, and he sat up. He almost drooled just looking at the golden deliciousness on the plate.
"Wow, sister Jia, you actually managed to get it," he said as he rubbed his hands together. Yan Jia opened a can of beer for him and said,
"What? You thought the general wouldn’t be able to make it happen? If you want chicken, he will get it for you. Now that he knows who you are, your wish is his command."
Li Jun said, "I thought you were going to harass him a bit," before taking a bite. The explosion of flavors in his mouth made him hum in content. It wasn’t the best chicken he had ever had, but it was still delicious.
His mouth greasy, he took another bite, then another. He inhaled that chicken before taking a sip of his beer. His cheeks puffed up as he ate. He looked like a hamster storing nuts in his mouth.
Yan Jia ate with him. She was expecting it to be bad, but Lu Anu’s spice blend was so good that it made it incredibly hard for Yu Wen to mess this up. Seeing Yu Wen burn himself a couple of times and how seriously he took it, she was starting to think that maybe them getting together wouldn’t be a bad idea.
She would prefer that Li Jun be with someone who would be able to cater to his needs. Someone who would worship the very ground he walked on. And Yu Wen was starting to seem like he would actually do that.
Li Jun ate another drumstick before saying, "You should send the chef a tip for making him work this late."
Yan Jia wiped her lips and said, "Oh, Yu Wen made it."
Li Jun paused mid-bite and looked at her. He asked, "What?"
"He went to the kitchen and made it. Sure, he had his mother telling him what to do, and the chef made sure he wouldn’t burn the entire kitchen down, but he made it."
Li Jun heard what she said, but he couldn’t believe it. Yu Wen didn’t know how to cook. From what he knew, he had never cooked. He had too much going on to personally do it. Lu Anu actually had to drop off meals, otherwise he would survive on unhealthy things.
"Are you serious? He made this?"
