Chapter 89: He is coming

"Tch...tch...youth these days have no sense of decency," a middle-aged woman clicked her tongue as she cast a judging eye at the couple sitting on a bench beside the city street. She adjusted her handbag and shook her head disapprovingly before continuing along the pavement.

She was one of the many passersby, glancing at the bench before moving on their way and the fourth one to pass the comment.

At the bench itself sat Vlad. On his lap, Seraphina was sitting, her limbs still crossed around his body, her face buried into his neck. She clung to him like a child seeking refuge, her weight settled comfortably against his chest, her breath warm against his skin.

Vlad had covered her red head with his jacket in case someone might recognise her. His face carried a deep crimson hue, his breathing heavy as the warmth of Seraphina’s soft body pressed against him. He stared straight up at the night sky, trying desperately to ignore the frantic beating of his own heart.

Slowly, her grip around his arm loosened, her lips parting from his neck where a pair of red marks remained. She pulled back slightly, her breath still uneven, her senses gradually returning to normal.

"Had your fill?" Vlad asked in a calm voice even though his racing heart was clearly giving away his composed facade.

As she moved a bit back and saw Vlad’s sharp features from up close, her face turned immediately red. It was followed by the realisation of the intimate position she was in with him, causing the fumes rising all the way to her ears, her lips shivering.

The final nail was struck when her eyes fell upon the marks on Vlad’s neck. Her pink eyes turned wide as saucers, her hand reaching her mouth in shock. The twin red dots glared back at her like damning evidence of her transgression.

"I...y-you...h-how..." She whimpered, her eyes turning teary. The last thing she remembered was seeing Gabriel’s bleeding arm, and the overwhelming hunger that had consumed her entirely.

"Wh-what about Gabriel? I did not drink his blood right?" She asked, her complexion darkening in horror. A cold dread seeped into her as she envisioned the worst-case scenario, her stomach churning with anxiety.

"The man that kidnapped you?" Vlad asked to which Seraphina immediately nodded. "No, you did not. I am the only victim." He offered a faint, reassuring smile.

The moment Vlad said those words Seraphina hugged him again, tears falling down her cheeks as she began sobbing heavily.

"S-Sera?" Vlad mumbled, both surprised and taken aback from the sudden hug. He froze for an instant, his arms hovering awkwardly before he relaxed. ’She must have been scared from the incident,’ he sighed inwardly.

He placed his hand warmly on her head and whispered, "everything is alright now." His fingers gently stroked her crimson hair through the jacket, a soothing gesture that gradually eased her trembling.

Now that a few seconds passed and she was finally calmed, the embarrassment that came along with it was heavy enough to make Seraphina almost unconscious. Her cheeks burned like twin furnaces, the heat radiating all the way to the tips of her ears. She could barely lift her gaze from his shoulder, every fiber of her being screaming with mortification.

’You stupid stupid girl! What have you done? How are you going to explain this to father?’ She cried inwardly, her chin still placed on Vlad’s shoulder. ’Moreover, you even cried while sitting on his lap and hugging him. Y-you are as good as married. But you are t he noble from House Cendral. He is just a commoner. Most importantly, how should you part from him. This is very embarrassing!!!!!!’

While she was having a duel with her feelings, Vlad whispered, "Sera, c-could you let me go now? The weather is strangely hot today."

If the temperature would fall a further degree, it would cause snowfall, farthest from the hot that Vlad claimed.

"O-oh right. It is very hot tonight," Seraphina blurted, parting from him. She kept her face hidden beneath his jacket as she jumped from him, holding the jacket’s edge with her hands.

From there, the duo hurried toward the Convocation Hall in quick, awkward steps. Only after they reached the front door did Seraphina speak.

"I forgot my purse in the restaurant."

"Here," Vlad said, pulling her purse from his trouser pocket.

She took out her identity card, inserted it into the doorknob, and unlocked it with a click.

A white void covered the other side of the door, the same one they had passed through when they arrived in the city from the academy.

After stepping through, they found themselves on a narrow path flanked by towering walls. Bright lamps, placed at regular intervals, bathed the passage in a golden glow.

Seraphina returned the card to her purse after it slid out of the doorknob behind them.

"Would you like to talk about this incident?" Vlad asked as they continued walking. At first, he had assumed they targeted her because of the hatred humans harbored toward vampires, but what he had witnessed suggested a very different story.

"He is my uncle," Seraphina revealed, her voice laced with disdain and suppressed anger. "He was the one who orchestrated my abduction. He isn’t my direct uncle. He’s from a distant branch of the family, to the point where the only thing we share is the same family name."

"Then why did he do that?" Vlad asked, genuinely confused.

"He became obsessed with my mother the first time he laid eyes on her. That obsession transferred to me when... wh-when my mother passed away."

"Th-that’s disgusting!" Vlad snapped, his voice rising. The thought of an uncle, someone who should have been a father figure, harboring such feelings for his own niece was something Vlad could scarcely comprehend.

"Indeed, it is," Seraphina said, sharing the same disgust. "It was two years ago when I first saw him at a ball..."

While Seraphina recounted her story, Victor and Aldric watched them from high above, standing upon a translucent circular formation.

"Thank goodness the kids are safe," Victor said with a sigh of relief. His expression soon turned cold as he continued, "Now then, shall we deal with the nuisance?" fгeewebnovёl.com

His hand drifted toward the sword at his waist when Aldric, gazing into the distance, spoke.

"There is no need. We cannot hunt his prey."

Victor’s eyes widened, shock written across his face.

"V-Vice Principal, y-you mean..." fгeewebnovёl.com

"The Pyro Tyrant has arrived in Velarum."
