Chapter 88: Calm down, Sera

"How could I turn her back in case she lose the control?" Vlad asked, quickly taking in the information. He did not have the luxury of time to waste it on being shocked. freёwebnovel.com

"She must drink blood to return to normal," Sophia revealed, her voice strained with urgency. "Remember this Vlad. Not under any circumstances should she drink the blood of her kidnappers."

---

Seraphina slowly moved towards Gabriel, drool falling on the ground from her chin as she intently stared at the blood as if it was the most delicious dish in the world. Her footsteps were unsteady, each step drawing her closer to the crimson pool that glistened under the faint moonlight. Her breathing had turned shallow and ragged, her entire being consumed by the primal urge surging through her veins.

"Y-you want blood, right?" Gabriel murmured, his chest rising and falling from the agony and exhaustion as he raised his bleeding arm towards Seraphina. His voice was a broken whisper, yet his eyes gleamed with twisted satisfaction.

Once she reached closer, she bent down, grabbed Gabriel’s arm and leaned closer. Her fingers dug into his flesh with desperate strength, pulling his arm toward her waiting mouth. The scent of fresh blood enveloped her senses, intoxicating her every other thought.

Her canines were about to touch his skin when suddenly a hand grabbed her mouth from behind.

"I’m sorry for being late, Sera," a deep but gentle voice entered her ears, making her whole body tremble, her iris shaking.

Because she had completely lost her senses, she did not even recognise when Vlad suddenly landed behind her from the ceiling. He had descended through one of the broken openings above, his boots touching the ground with practiced silence. His arms wrapped around her from behind, one hand clamping over her mouth while the other pressed firmly against her stomach, pinning her against his chest.

"Wh-who the hell are you!?" Gabriel muttered, his eyes sharpening at Vlad standing behind Seraphina, holding her tightly. His voice dripped with venom, his gaze burning with possessive fury despite his injuries. "Stop touching her you bast—"

Before he could finish his sentence, Vlad landed a sharp kick across his sides, sending him rolling through the ground. Gabriel tumbled across the dirt floor, his body ragdolling until he struck the rack of steel rods with a heavy thud. He went limp, unconsciousness claiming him at last.

Seraphina’s eyes fell upon the pool of blood beneath her before following its trail, reaching Gabriel. The sight caused her heart to throb in her chest again.

She began squirming in Vlad’s grasp, trying to set herself free. Muffled snarls escaped from behind his palm as she fought with wild, animalistic desperation.

"Calm down," Vlad said in a gentle tone. "I will take you to the academy. You can drink as much blood as you want then." He held her tighter, hoping his words might pierce through the veil of her madness.

His words fell on deaf ears. The force of Seraphina only increased. Realising how firmly Vlad was holding her, she suddenly shoved her hand backward, her nails aimed directly at his eyes.

Vlad closed his eyes and bent his head back at the last moment, protecting himself from the serious injury. Nonetheless the attack did land, causing him to free the grasp.

The moment Seraphina was freed, she rushed at Gabriel with sharp, frantic movements. Her body launched forward like a released arrow, her claws extended and her fangs bared, every instinct driving her toward the source of that irresistible scent.

Gabriel had only reached in his range again when a hand grabbed her by her cloth belt from behind, lifting her upward. She landed on her back behind Vlad over his body.

"Calm down girl," Vlad muttered, his eyebrows furrowing in annoyance as he struggled to open his eyes due to her poke. He blinked rapidly, his vision swimming from the near-miss.

"Grrrrr!" Seraphina growled at Vlad like a beast as she rose to her feet.

She bolted at Vlad, her hands turned into claws with sharp and elongated nails. Her feet pounded against the dirt as she closed the distance in an instant, her arms swinging in wide, vicious arcs aimed at his torso and face.

The swing of her claws materialised thin crimson threads, launching at Vlad. It was only when the threads touched his jacket and cut through it without slightest resistance did Vlad realise the threat they possessed.

He immediately retreated back, moving out of the range of her threads. The stench of leather burning filled his nose as the smoke rose from the sleeve of his jacket where the threads had momentarily touched him. He glanced down at the smoldering fabric, his eyes widening at the clean, smoking cuts that had nearly reached his skin.

"Th-that was dangerous," Vlad gasped. "I would have lost an arm if I was a moment’s la—"

Vlad had not even finished his words when Seraphina had already reached halfway towards Gabriel again.

"Give me a break," he muttered, slamming into her from the sides, sending her rolling over the ground. He was past the point of showing any grace to his temporary master.

While rolling, Seraphina stabbed the ground with her nails, bringing herself under control, her eyes glaring at Vlad with murderous intent. She rose to her knees, her gaze fixed on him with unadulterated rage, her lips pulled back in a silent snarl.

"Damn, she is mad," Vlad gasped, raising his hand before him in a defensive position as he realised she was about to attack him.

Seraphina raised her both hands high and began swinging them in frantic motion, each swing releasing crimson threads forward, forming a tight net of them.

Only a few threads were released when Vlad realised that he would really be chopped into pieces while trying to stop her. He hurled into the air, dodging the incoming strikes before landing in front of her. Before she could attack him, he grabbed her both arms with his hand, and shoved one of her hands towards his neck. The nail of her index finger slightly pierced his neck, taking out a bead of blood.

Seraphina’s eyes trembled again from the sight of blood, drool instantly leaking from her mouth. She hurled at him, locking her arms around his neck and her legs around his back.

"Bl...blood..." She murmured as she parted her lips, her canines reaching Vlad’s neck. They stabbed into his skin, making him frown.

She began sucking the blood from his neck as if a child was drinking the milk. The sounds of her greedy swallows filled the silent warehouse, punctuated by the soft, rhythmic beating of her heart slowly beginning to steady.

"Slow down," Vlad murmured, gently patting her with one hand while supporting her body with other, placing it firmly below her thigh. "No one is taking from you."

He had planned to bring her to the academy by subduing her, but the task proved far more audacious than he had anticipated. If he tried to fight an uncontrolled vampire without a single offensive skill, he would have lost more than just a limb. The most optimal solution was to return her to normal.

Since, for some reason, she could not drink the kidnapper’s blood, and blood was the only thing needed to stabilize her, sacrificing a few milliliters of his own blood was the solution he came up with.

If only he knew what he was getting himself into with that decision.
