Chapter 215: Waiting

Because of the changes, the wedding guests were now limited to close family and friends only. Sierra returned to her quarters to change out of her coronation dress. Ida and the other maids quickly got her into her wedding outfit.

Vy had originally suggested white since it was tradition for brides from where she was from to wear white. But Sierra never really liked lighter colors. Furthermore, she wanted to make a statement and wore what she liked.

After all, it was her and Alistair’s big day. She wanted it to be special for both of them. Hence, she chose a form-fitted dress that was still easy to move in, with a removable long skirt. Her chest piece clung to her skin tightly, but it still gave her the mobility she wanted.

She gently patted the fabric on her sides. Her twin swords that’d accompanied her through thick and thin were safely hidden under the layers of fabric. No one could tell they were hidden in there.

"You look like a goddess who’s ascended from the skies, Your Majesty," Ida praised as she added the finishing touches to Sierra’s hair which had been braided.

Ida was choking up in tears, seeing Sierra in her bridal outfit. She was no traditional bride, but she was still a blushing bride.

"Oh Ida," Sierra said with a smile, "You flatter me too much."

She turned to face her maid, who’d been with her since the very beginning. She was one of the few who had been with her since the beginning. Her unwavering support and loyalty were more than she could ever ask for.

Sierra reached out her hand and wiped the tears off Ida’s cheeks, "Save the tears for the actual ceremony, Ida. If you cry any more I’m going to start tearing up too."

Both women chuckled, as Ida rubbed away her tears.

"I’ll keep them for later," Ida smiled.

Once all was ready, Sierra headed to the wedding venue at once. Everything had been arranged and the seats were rearranged to accommodate the smaller guest list. Since the sun had already begun to set, lamp lights were lit to brighten up the venue.

As soon as Sierra walked down the aisle, the orchestra began to play. Her friends and family stood up on either side. They gasped in amazement and wonder when they saw her in her dress and veil. Sierra held a simple flower bouquet. freёweɓnovel.com

At the end of the aisle, the master of ceremony was there. Sierra stood at the side when she got to the end of the carpet. She looked back at everyone who gathered to attend the ceremony.

They sat back down in their seats as the wait for the groom began. Music accompanied the guests and the bride in their wait. As the sky turned dark and the moon hung high above them, there was a sense of unease amongst them.

At some point, Ida asked Sierra if she wanted to take a seat, seeing as she’s been standing the entire time. But she refused. According to the last known news from the guards she’d stationed on the travel roads, Vy, Dygo, and Aether had made good progress covering a vast distance. freёwebnovel.com

But things were not hopeful.

"Seriously, how late could he be for his own wedding?" Lord Badol grumbled, "Everyone’s here waiting for him to show up!"

Lady Tessi shot her son a glare, "We will wait as long as we need. As long as our Queen wants."

She looked over to Sierra, offering her a smile of support. Sierra reciprocated, grateful to know she had the support of her aunt. But even she was getting anxious. Her palms were sweating from anxiety.

When dinner time came and went, Sierra let out a sigh. She pursed her lips, feeling like she wanted to give up. There wasn’t any more news from her friends who were out searching on her behalf either.

"What if.., he really..." Sierra bit her own lip, refusing to believe or say the words that were swimming through her mind.

She had faith in him, she always had and always will. But waiting patiently was something she could no longer do.

A new resolve established itself in her mind.

Without much thought, her body moved on its own. Sierra abandoned her post at the end of the aisle. She was still holding onto the flowers in one hand, as she walked down the red carpet.

"Your Majesty, where are you going?" Ida gasped in shock, surprised by her sudden movements.

All of her friends and family got up to their feet too, wanting to come to her aid. But before Sierra could reply to any of them, she sensed something or someone was coming toward her.

Sierra looked up, surprised to see a messenger running towards her. Trailing behind her, were two familiar figures. One of them seemed to be carrying another person in their arms. Sierra clenched her fists.

She felt as if her heart sank. She rushed forward to meet the messenger halfway. As they got closer to each other, she soon realized who the familiar figures were.

"Vy! Dygo! You’re back! What is going-" Sierra stopped dead in her tracks when she realized who Dygo was carrying in her arms.

Her heart dropped.

"Cassandra?"

The wedding guests, who were already on their feet, gasped in shock when they saw the state Consort Cassandra was in. She was badly injured and in need of medical assistance at once.

"Bring the royal doctors, at once!" Ida instructed some guards to get the needed help immediately.

Princess Myra and Princess Taita came forward since they knew who Cassandra was. Lady Rochelle and Lady Diane were in shock by what they witnessed.

"She was like this when we found her, in the back of an abandoned horse carriage. I used a healing spell to stabilize her condition but she’ll still need medical assistance," Dygo quickly explained.

"Was she unconscious when you found her?" Sierra asked anxiously as she looked at the extent of Cassandra’s injuries.

It looked as if she’d been on the run for some time.

"She was awake. Sierra, you have to hear what she has to say, " Vy replied anxiously.
