Chapter 3: A Victim and A Suspect

Rita leaned forward, and she placed a soft kiss on Percy’s lips before she pulled back and whispered.

"You should wake up, baby."

Percy let out a low groan as he put his hand on Rita’s upper back. A shiver travelled through Rita’s body as Percy’s hand travelled lower towards her waist, and Rita let out a squeak as Percy suddenly grabbed her large ass and squeezed!

"Percy!"

Rita hit Percival on the chest, and Percival laughed as he grabbed Rita and turned them over!

"Ah!"

Rita cried out in shock as Percy pinned her to the bed, and she looked up to see Percy staring down at her with deep black eyes.

"Why don’t you forget work for today and stay in bed with me? We can lock ourselves in and practice some stretches."

Rita laughed, and she pointed a finger at Percy’s nose playfully.

"The headmaster wouldn’t like that at all. And whose idea was it to open this library in the first place? It hasn’t even been a year since we came here, and you’re already neglecting your duties, so we can stretch together."

Percy chuckled as he leaned forward.

"All that old man does is sleep all the time. I can take him."

"Percy, I have – Mmh!"

Rita suddenly let out a low moan as Percy dived into her neck and bit her softly! Her hand travelled into Percy’s hair, and she tried to get her voice out as she gasped.

"Percy... Percy, I have a delivery to make. Ahh~"

Percy’s hand travelled up Rita’s body and cupped her large breast before he dived in to kiss her hard! Rita let out another soft moan as she pulled Percy even closer, and her fangs began to elongate as her arousal grew! Rita pressed her knees together as she squirmed on the bed, and Percy smiled as he finally pulled back.

"Tell Lana to make the deliveries."

Rita was breathing heavily, and she swallowed.

"You know... how bad Lana is... with directions. She’ll get lost."

Percy hummed.

"That’s true. Let’s make Roland do it then." fɾeeweɓnѳveɭ.com

Rita rolled her eyes in amusement! Roland was the large golem that Percy kept down in his research lab. If they sent that thing out, then it would destroy the entire Academy before lunch!

"I’ll be back before you even know I’m gone, baby. Come on, we have to get to work."

Percy finally let out a small sigh, and he gave Rita one more kiss before he pushed himself off the bed so he could go take a bath, but in the next moment, a scream tore through the library!

"KYAAAAA!!"

Both Percy and Rita turned in shock when they heard the scream, and Rita immediately stood to leave the room! Percy snapped his fingers, and a magic circle appeared under his feet and travelled up across his body to clean him up, and in the next moment, a pair of trousers and a shirt materialized on his body before he followed Rita out of the room.

Downstairs, there was a small crowd of students forming, and they all had looks of shock on their faces! Percy and Rita approached the crowd quickly, and the moment they appeared, all the students quickly began to move out of the way to make space for them! Rita was the first to reach the middle of the forming crowd, and her eyes widened when she saw what everyone had been staring at.

It was the blonde girl who had come into the library earlier.

She was dead.

There was blood pooling around her motionless body, and it looked like several of her bones had been broken, so it was obvious that she had fallen from a high place. Lana was kneeling beside the girl with her hands over her mouth, and Percy spoke from behind Lana.

"Lana, do you know what happened here?"

Lana turned to Percy with wide eyes, and she tried to speak, but she was so shocked that she couldn’t talk properly, and Percy just held her shoulder.

"Look into my eyes, Lana."

Percy’s eyes glowed with a red light as he gazed into Lana’s eyes, and he scanned Lana’s memories and extracted what had happened over the past few minutes from her mind! Percy looked up with a frown and stared at the girl standing on the tenth floor.

The lynx girl was staring down at her friend with wide, disbelieving eyes. Her entire body was shaking like she couldn’t believe what she was looking at, and Percy could tell that she was about to go into shock. But Percy didn’t understand this.

Why did she look so shocked when she was the one who pushed her friend over the balcony?

....

Over the next hour, the library was cleared up, and the Aquinas city guard was called in to investigate the crime scene. Percy was sitting on the stone slab that held the statue of Verati with Lana sitting beside him, and he was petting her head gently while watching as the little lynx girl was put in magical handcuffs by one of the city guards.

"I didn’t do it! I swear I didn’t do it! I don’t know what happened! I didn’t kill my friend!"

The girl was crying out desperately that she hadn’t pushed her friend, and Percy watched her mannerisms closely and the way she looked around desperately. It didn’t look like she was lying at all, but that just wasn’t possible. Everyone here had seen her push her friend to her death, so what was the point of lying about it?

At the other side of the library, Rita was talking to a female city guard about what she had been doing. The officer looked furious as she spoke to Rita, but Rita kept a calm expression as she responded to the officer without raising her voice. After a while, the officer realized that she wouldn’t be able to get any reaction from Rita, and the guard turned her attention to Percy and Lana and began to walk over.

Percy turned towards the guard curiously, and he looked her over. She was a young woman with short black hair and bright green eyes. She had three marks on either of her cheeks that looked like cat whiskers, and there were two black cat ears on her head to show she was a demihuman. The woman was scowling deeply, and once she came close, she raised her voice towards Percy!

"What were you doing that would allow something like this to happen!? I heard you weren’t even present during the murder! How do you call yourself a librarian!?"

The woman did not look like she was even willing to hear any excuses from Percy, and Percy allowed her to vent all of her anger before he spoke while glancing at her name tag.

"Officer Viva, I don’t think pointing fingers is going to solve anything. No one could have predicted something like this happening."

"But you are the librarian! Should you not be supervising the students? I heard you left this child to look after the library on her own!"

Officer Viva pointed at Lana with a scowl, and Percy had to hold Lana back as she hissed at the officer angrily! Officer Viva took a step back from Lana in slight fear, but she gained back her bravado quickly as Percy spoke up again.

"Lana is a vigilant caretaker, and we’ve left her in charge of the library many times without any incidents. If there was anything she could’ve done to prevent this murder, then she would’ve definitely done it. I think you should focus more on finding out who was responsible for this rather than pointing fingers."

Officer Viva scowled slightly when she heard this, and she looked towards the lynx girl, who was still crying that she hadn’t done it. There was a bit of sympathy in Viva’s eyes when she saw the despair on the young girl’s face, but Viva closed her eyes and turned away as she spoke to Percy.

"What do you mean we should look for who was responsible? There are multiple eyewitnesses who point to her friend being responsible. You even told us the same thing."

Percy hummed, and his eyes narrowed as the lynx girl was slowly being led out of the library. That didn’t look like the face of someone who would kill her friend.
